It’s certainly an interesting socio-political phenomenon. Many accusers were just lashing out due to internal and external stressors. For example, Mercy Lewis, who was one of Giles Corey’s accusers, was forced into indentured servitude after her entire family was killed during several attacks by natives throughout King William’s War. She could have used the witch trials to express her anger and frustration at her circumstances, at who she believed was an agent of evil in league with those who slaughtered her family. (It was a common puritan belief at the time that the natives were worshippers of Satan.) It probably also gave her a sense of control, something not readily available to women in the 17th century. Ironically, independent women who acted against social norms were the most likely to be accused of practicing witchcraft.

Oh well see there's the issue! Everyone knows you have to feed the dog the cake at midnight or it won't work! 😔😌😔 Yep,its a very common mistake. This is why you need a qualified witch hunter,a...witcher if you will. To think this all could have been avoided had they simply fed the dog that pisscake at the right time. Well i suppose it still wouldnt have worked because i heard no mention of the "protective pales" which of course are metal pales you use as a witch barrier(when found out a witch will jump out of the human body and wiz around finding a new host, then you have to start the process over again! So you place 4 pales around each person and insure they are topped off with the flatulence of a virgin cow and the semen of boy the lord hath cursed with devil hand(left handed heathens). Man these people were playing with fire, no wonder it went to shit!
It's taken me a bit of time to get around to watching this video. not sure why. My first encounter with the Salem Witch Trials was through High School English Literature classes (That's going back over three decades now). One of the plays we studied for our Eng. Lit. 'O' Level (as it was then) was 'The Crucible'. It was one of two we studied that was written by a famous American playwright, the other being 'Death of a Salesman; (thanks to the passage aod time I can't recall the playwright's name). Based on the events of the Salem Witch Trials, I remember my teacher pointing out the play was written during the McCarthy era, with the communist trials going on in the background, and him telling us there were a lot of parallels between the two, and that the play was a critical commentary on what was happening at the time it was written. Perhaps he had a point, and perhaps it's part of human nature to want to blame somebody else for our mistakes, or if things go wrong. Witches, Communists, even people of different races, at the end of the day, it's all too easy for us to blame somebody else, rather than face up to our own failings.
John Balch is my ancestor. He had The Balch House in Salem, the first structural house built in America. We also kind of started the witch trials. David, Benjamin, and Elizabeth Balch, anyways. Unfortunately, my aunt is the one who testified and got Bishop killed (Elizabeth and Benjamin Balch). Crazy times! They were trying to get Sarah killed for witching, but she escaped with her husband, and Bridget was killed instead.
Hello I am a college student who is a History Major I really do enjoy your videos. Oh well see there's the issue! Everyone knows you have to feed the dog the cake at midnight or it won't work!
😔😌😔
Yep,its a very common mistake.
Holy crap this got out of hand really quick. I swear that if you sneeze you'd be accused of being a witch in Salem.
Women: *existed*
Salem: You're a wizard, Jennie
Jennie: Yay!..........what one damn second.
Very interesting, I very much enjoy these explorations of history. Maybe a really odd one would be interesting. Something real obscure.
Had to do a double take at the very start, coulda swore he said "Beer and superstitions..." lol
Thank god i thought i was the only one
EXCELLENT VIDEO
I didn't notice that this wasn't an scp video until halfway through. Still a great one though, and I finished watching it
For a moment, I thought you said "BEER and superstition have been guiding forces for mankind for thousands of years" and it made perfect sense.
liking this upload regularity lol
Thank you so much for this, I have an exam on this in my History Lecture today 😁

Hello I am a college student who is a History Major I really do enjoy your videos. I was wondering if you would cover one of my favorite topics in history and that would be The Great Pestilence of the 6th century (The black plague) or the Fall of Rome and the outcome of ruler Valerian at his defeat to Salphur I. Thanks for the awesome videos man!
3:30 she then came back as a dragon witch and wanted to destroy all of Orleans in-which a person from the future, a girl with a giant shield, the same saint but the non-evil version....somehow, a general who looked gloom 24/7, a dragon-vampire pop star, a yandere dragon yokai, and a Norse hero that’s also a shit 4-star must stop them and their giant fucking dragon

I’m actually a descendant of the Putnam family. It’s crazy to think about, bc I’ve also got family ties to a handful of the VICTIMS of the trials. Weird to think my ancestors were convicting each other of witchcraft...
