so just to be clear all of the additional refinements as it relates to nvh ie the thicker carpet insulation, insulated a and b pillars etc, are only applied to the A-spec but as you move up to type -s they strip it back out? …i get it from weight perspective (allegedly 30lbs) but i think this buyer still wants a quiet interior.
I think I watched your a spec review a couple years ago when I had one dreaming of a type s. As of 8 months ago I'm a proud owner of a type s.

It is definitely a looker on the best looking sedans out there definitely looks better than the Audi A4 and a Mercedes. I have the 330 I Xdrive this is very comparable. Doesn’t have to take a backseat to anything out there.
Hub-centric wheels are designed for the center bore of the wheel to be a perfect match to the vehicle’s hub, sometimes called a hub pilot. This allows the wheel and tire assembly to be centered on the hub, which is the most accurate way to install your wheels.

the push button transmission select almost instantly killed my enjoyment, interior does not feel the level that dealerships around me are asking for

The Tlx will not hold a candle to a IS500 when all this EV’s come into play. Look what clean ISF’s are going for so you have an idea where the IS500 is headed
That's honestly a tough choice. The Type S was on my radar but I bought the IS500 for the V8. I tried to buy a Type S for my wife. I loved how the Acura drove but she went with a Red Sport.

Over the IS no, over the BMW yes. I saw one yesterday, very good-looking car in person. Love the BMW lines, not the maintenance or ride. Maybe not baller level but very nice. Good to see you in the seat again, Kevin. I love the copper wheels. I would be proud to drive it.

Extra year of maintenance with BMW and get the adaptive damper and get rid of run flats. Better infotainment too. Acura comes loaded up overall and is great as well.

I really really like vehicle, and these are my favorite kind of reviews that you make. I just don't like the buttons to shift and the touch pad. I can see the buttons for reverse and drive being annoying for tight parking spots where or parallel parking and things like that.
I appreciate that brother I can get over the shift buttons but that infotainment..my gosh that is some A1 garbage 😂 can't believe Acura's audacity to green light that for a production car.
This car looks awesome. The wheels are perfect, and look easy to keep clean. With that being said. I am still very much into the Lexus IS 500 F Sport.💙✌️

Did you say the Lexus IS V6 has more character than the B58 in the M340? Can you explain what you mean?
Yea for sure, B58 is a complete soulless vacuum cleaner that gets endless amounts of hype because the world is programmed to say it’s great. Essentially it’s just group think.
But those who can look past the matrix indoctrination, think for themselves and not regurgitate what others say can now hear the audible quality, exhaust tones, and induction noises that the Lexus engines have to offer.
Aside from everyone worshipping BMWs can you honestly say after driving a new BMW B58 that it’s special? Yea it looks good on paper but if that’s all you care about, EVs are even better on paper and cheaper.. I can lease an E Tron GT for $600 a month that will smoke any B58 and can get performance Teslas for next to nothing.
We don’t drive paper, we experience cars.

This coming from someone who owns a 2016 BMW 340 6speed, with induction sounds and pops and bangs from factory(in sports mode). So that part I don't understand, that is if you're referring to sound when you mention the B58 being a soulless vacuum cleaner. In terms of hype, B58 has the reputation it has or hype as you call it based on its aftermarket tuning potential. Don't think you can call it hype if he B58 is proven to handle lots of power for a relatively low cost.

I’ve owned several BMWs as well last of which was a 440i 2019. I liked that car very much actually but just not the characterless B58 you keep raving about.
Not only have I owned several cars but it doesn’t take a genius to see that I test cars for a living…whose word are we going to take, a BMW fanboys or a journalists?
Owned an LC 500 Lexus with a proper V8 bet you’re going to tell me a B58 has more character than that too. It’s faster yes but faster doesn’t mean more fun or more engagement.

Such a good looking car and it would be nice if Acura come up with a true performance version to compete with the German cars.
This is the performance version 😅😂 but yea I know what you mean a proper full M, RS, and 63 AMG competitor. This car feels like it can handle way more power. Aftermarket can probably unlock this car to give us a hyper performance model that you’re referring to. If Acura made one from the factory nobody would buy it so they won’t bother with it.
@@MeynMotorGroup You totally got my drift. Honda/Acura is good in the racing world but they are conservative on passing down to consumer cars their racing techs. Must be a corporate policy or mission vision responsibility to the public.
@@geocam007 it’s mainly sales they barely stock these ~$60k Type S models at dealers like 60 in the whole country so if nobody is buying this at $60k nobody wants a $90k-$120k Acura product sadly

How does this compare to Porsche or Maserati ghibli
It’s definitely a beautiful car but for that price I’d go with the BMW M340i a lot more bang for your buck.
One thing I got to say Acura and Honda know there shit I'm very impressed are there enthusiasm precision crafted performance amazing car brand love the Honda in the Acura name beautiful craftsmanship😊

One of my favorite cars out there and still never see any or them on the road its a shame. I think the price is a big problem theres a LOT of good cars in that price bracket and people rather get other cars for that price. These things are so underrated and look so good
Wish these had an 8% discount, a $57k Type S would be around $52k. That would have been great value.

@@BrayZap that means S4, M340i, C43 should all be $40k. Competition has set its price this aligns with it. For $40k you’re looking at V6 Camrys.
the problem is it weighs a ton, no wait, TWO tons, and the powertrain is lackluster, not to mention awful infotainment...

I loved those cars and had a bunch of them. I bought a TLX Type S last year and I took it back in three weeks. Went to service a few times to fix some unbearable transmission noises that they were saying is normal. I know what normal is. I went back to BMW real quickly. It was a horrible choice and I wasted a lot of money on that mistake.

Far better than many reviewers give. It's a better Honda more than trying to be better European luxury car which most are far less reliable and resale value and crash test. Acura products and Honda products is best American made and labor costs why so expensive.

I’m one of the first owners from 2021 and this car is a 7/10 from a honest owners perspective. The vehicle looks sexy. Everywhere i go i always turn heads or get compliments still. I love the sound system, suspension and features and the headlights. But my biggest complaint is the transmission. It’s awful. Gear hunts way too much. In the most aggressive settings.. it never puts you into the right gear. My stock transmission broke at 25k mikes. It needs improvement in many areas. The engine is solid but the performance with gas efficiency isn’t good at all. It weighs too much with little space with no performance or better efficiency. The rotors are straight garbage. Had to go aftermarket and i don’t track the vehicle or drive that aggressively either. I have enjoyed the experience but it’s leaving my driveway for an Audi RS5 SportBack Competition. I would recommend it over a genesis or infinity. Lexus is a maybe. But as a daily commenter it’s not a bad choice just needs more improvement personally. Reliability isn’t as perfect as you may think.. had other issues with carplay, puddle lights, steering rack and door frames

Yea sadly first model year is always worse, this 2024 refresh has been flawless excellent shifts in manual and auto mode and great for both daily/sporty driving. Of course, as mentioned at the end, every car drives differently gotta do a thorough test drive but hard to do with these as there are so few in the country

I have an Acura TL type s so I've been on the forums for years. I have never seen anything related to carbon buildup on a Honda or Acura on any of the farms or in real life and I have a 2016 and a 2008

Yea my friend I just can't deal with the over jarring ride and fake steering of most bimmers. Would much rather enjoy the dual nature of this TLX and the capabilities of this car is already overkill for the streets. Having something more capable is more or less a waste so would rather enjoy the other luxury features as well of the TLX

Front legroom is only 36in I’m 6’4” i have owned three TL’s in my life I don’t think I can fit in this model..
Legroom is 42.5" in the front headroom is 37.2" I'm not sure where you are getting your information my friend.
This has only a few downsides. One is the V6 is a Turbo and no port injection, Two the sound is pumped through cabin, Three infotainment is not touch screen. Lexus IS 350 / IS 500 are the closest competition for this car. I would give Acura the upper mark because, Lexus did not address the chassis in the 3IS so there's no bracing on the strut shock towers like Acura did, and its worse on IS 500 as it has a bumper sag issue. IS 350 also does it sadly. And guess what Lexus did ? a TSB with a ziptie and glue, imagine that guys in 2024. Toyota shat on their premium Shimoyama born 3IS and a shameless TSB that does not work. Acura unfortunately does not have a V8 nor an NA engine vs the Lexus IS with 2GR FKS and 2UR GSE V8 beast. I think ELS Audio is exceptional as I often heard, ML in the IS is top notch too. 1800W, 18 speaker system in my IS 500 rumbles like the beating heart V8. Lexus is pathetic now as they removed the engine bracing from their RC F. Utterly pathetic. So yeah even though the NA V8 is top class I would advice this car for new buyers. I forgot, IS only has Nuluxe, but this has a nice Leather seating and trimmed interior.

Objectively, the Acura TLX Type S is a better buy option than its BMW competitors because you get so much for your money. It also holds more resale value than BMW who undergoes crazy price depreciation annually.
Subjectively, the BMW is a better choice if you are caught up with brand prestige.
These still depreciate cheapest rn is like 40k in the used market most are around 45k-48k and pretty low miles. Honestly, I would only buy the TLX Type S if it came with an 8% discount and get it for around $52k imo that would be a sweet spot and make this phenomenal value like you mention.
Something like the m340ix is categorically better than this car in every possible category except the TLX looks better
@@BabySkinCondomLooks also go to M340. The blue and white propeller lone makes it better looking than any Acura. Not to mention that this engine is no match to B58.

All of those nanny modes are making people horrible drivers! They should be banned because people just can't look over their shoulder now, whether they're backing up or changing lanes they rely on the technology to let them know. The light on your mirror for example, that's just a notification, an aid to tell you that something is in your blind spot, if it's not on it doesn't mean you can change lanes!!! I had way too many close calls with people backing up with the camera only!
I can get about 28 MPG on the S but only on flat surfaced level roads long distance and At Cruising speed around 80 MPH.. The S has a Very Impressive TQ Curve and it can litterly push other Super Cars up big Freaking hills. I have done it before...A Cammed SRT, A Viper, Many Stupid I340s and those Q50 and 60s Its fantastic on the Curvy roads.. The Interior is superiour and has a very classy Classy High Class feel.
Japanese BMW
I would put my Bowers and Wilkens system in my Volvo V60 up against anything. The Acura is good, but not even close.
I've heard good things about the Volvo Bowers but when I tried it in the XC-90.. it was good but sounded similar to the HK they offer. I wouldn't be surprised if it does sound better in your V60

The m340i so exhilarating , stock for stock , blows the doors away against the TLX , and it’s a sports sedan…It’s supposed to be a little harsh . I love a firm ride … if I wanted a cushy ride, I’d get a Lincoln or a caddy! The M lites are not that harsh when it comes to ride comfort in my opinion, And I am sitting on high-performance summer tires on my x3

I owned a 21 Type S for 3yrs, the car sucks bro I’m sorry. You can say what you want about the euro cars but they build a proper sport sedan. For the price of this car it’s better to spend the extra 4-5k and get the German. I recently got my 340i and tbh it’s the best car I’ve ever driven. I hated my type s 2 months after I got it. Honda over hyped and under delivered. Looks great tho and the headlights are awesome because to be honest everyone will always see your headlights in their rear. For a sport sedan not being able to out perform certain trucks , I’m good. I actually began to question my level of intelligence owning the type s. It was a stupid buy I had a 2020 accord 2.0 and that car was amazing so I thought it was a no brainer upgrade …… boyyy was I wrong
You had a 2021 my friend, this is a 2024 refresh. First model year of every car is trash they make improvements every year without disclosing them.
You should also watch my conclusion segment it’s towards the end so I’m sure nobody got to it.
But this is exactly why I hate reviewing cars and why I only care about helping consumers get a good deal. People are going to buy what they want.
Not everyone can be a car reviewer and have seat time in everything like me and realize every model within a brand is going to have drastic differences in how it performs.
If I show consumers how to get a good deal, at least that way they can just sell the turd and not lose a bunch of money like the average consumer
Bmw doesn't hold its value though. Drops significantly as soon as you drive off the lot. Insurance and maintenance will be more expensive and the car won't be anywhere near as reliable. Guess if you change your cars out every few years it wouldn't matter though.
@@starvinmarvin7964 BMW offers free maintenance for 3 years, TLX for 2 years. Most people are leasing and dumping these and not hanging onto it like a family heirloom. I feel most people shopping for these cars understand how disposable they are and these things get boring after 2-3 years so most will be looking for that next car to fulfill their lust.
@@MeynMotorGroup yes I actually extended my maintenance to 6yrs , I plan to take care of this car as with every car I’ve owned, I had a ford mustang that was great to me it comes down to maintenance. In the few weeks of ownership I will say that the TLX doesn’t compare. My TLX warped rotors lefts and right. I am actually enjoying this car if I’m cruising or driving spiritedly. After 2 months I hated my TLX I don’t care if this car is worth 5k at the end of my paying it off if it works I will keep it and I’m willing to change some of the plastic parts with better aftermarket parts down the line. I plan to invest in a computer and I’m learning as much as I can about my car now. I feel that I have finally found a car worth every mile and at my job it’s a plethora of bmw owners all the way from the 80s until now all series and all of them love their bmws

one thing that may contribute to the sense of variability in transmission function is that virtually all modern transmissions employ adaptive transmission technology which enables the transmission to adjust its shift pattern and behavior according to the driver's specific driving style…so with you-tubers and press cars this obviously results in probably the worst "adaptive learning data pool" in that it is a series of non professional drivers thrashing a car for short periods, potentially resulting in a less than optimal transmission algorithm.

Is this better than the "bmw m lite" - you mean the m340ix? no lol not even close. it looks a lot better than the generic looking 3 series, but that's about it.
i ended up getting the integra type s over both of them but i wouldn't have gotten the TLX over the 340.
If you can tolerate the back shattering ride and the 3% higher capability a 340i has to offer which can't even be used on the street (TLX is already overkill for the streets) then sure I suppose M340i is "better"
