    My name is Isaiah Rivera and I have the highest officially tested vertical on the planet at 50.5 inches and am the co-founder of THPstrength, a company that focuses on vertical jump training for athletes.
    What makes me a little different from most athletes that jump high is that I started with a pretty low vertical and documented my entire journey on this channel. Here is my journey in a nutshell:
    14: Started working out to jump higher for basketball
    16: Hit my first dunk and shortly after found out about the world of pro dunking
    17: Trained like a madman and hit my first between the legs dunk
    18: Entered my first professional dunk contest
    19: Knee pain almost made me quit dunking
    20: Met my coach John Evans, who helped me get rid of knee pain
    21: Won my first international dunk contest
    22: Tested a 48 inch vertical and started coaching full time
    24: Tested a world record 50.5 inch vertical
    The reason I make so much free content about jumping higher now is because it’s a resource I wish I would’ve had when I was in high school that would’ve prevented a lot of unnecessary mistakes and injuries.
    My mission is to share my passion and love for dunking and training and to make dunking an officially recognized sport.
    I hope that I can be an inspiration for your jump training and dunking journey,
    Isaiah

    Hey I can dunk 10ft at 5'7 and have a vert of around 40-42inch at 16, you have been a massive inspiration for me to reach this and helped me so much with all your information. Thank you

    Im 14 (15 in january) and 6ft. I live in Poland and when i jump i can almost grab the 10ft rim (its been like this for like 4 months). My fingers are a little over it, but i cant grab it. My problem is that i have way to much school to go to the better gyms at my area, and i need to go to the one nearest one. That gym is allright but its really small and i cant squat in there. Another issue is the weather, and the fact that there are no indoor courts where i live so im kinda isolated from basketball ( i can only play at tuesdays, when i have bball pratice at my school). But still, from watching your vids i improved so much and i wanted to thank you.

      I’m not an expert but I’d say start slowly working on mobility and strength on both sides so like calf raises tib raises and stretches or just full rom weight movements, also low level plyometrics like pogo jumps

    I was training really hard for the last 2 months so I added a few inches to my vert, now I have shin splints and lost all the work I did. I was reaching 3.13m before now I reach around 3.04m, I keep training but I think I should stop because during training my shins hurt a lot.

    Hello! You have been a great inspiration for me, and I went from not touching rim to 2 handed dunking on 9'11 rims. The only problem I have is when I do isometrics before my lifting, it gives me pain during the workout. Is there any way for me to fix this, or should I just move the isometrics to the end of the workout?

    Isaiah I was wondering if you take any supplements as a lifter or just for dunking and health. Do you take creatine because it’s supposed to help with explosive movements and if you don’t I would like to see you try. You can do the research and make a video about if it is good and shows results. Love you bro

    I just realized I have been doing pin squats wrong on my cycle 😂. I started from the pins instead of lowering to the pins so my first rep was extremely difficult lol oops. Yeah I felt it in my back a lot too so I used a belt, no pain, but that dead start from the bottom is toughhh.

    • @IsaiahRivera1
      @IsaiahRivera1  2 роки тому +3

      That still might've been correct! This one was specifically focusing on the eccentric.

    • @athletic_doc
      @athletic_doc 2 роки тому

      @@IsaiahRivera1 no it wasn’t these specifically but I was doing the pin squats at half squat starting from the pins/safety bars at my half squat position and pushing up from there instead of unracking from the J hooks and then lowering to the pins and pushing up for my first rep. Still got a great stimulus tho with the supramax load🤣 I made it harder than it needed to be.

    • @justbreathe8835
      @justbreathe8835 2 роки тому

      Naw bro those are a type of pin squat that address that level of your squat progression,they are hard af. As long as no unusual pain your good to go. From my understanding where ever your weakness is adjust the pin to that height and rep from there.
