I was given a Wizard X220HV to review and it promptly death rolled. I did NOT try your first suggestions because I broke an arm already from the malfunction and am waiting on a replacement. I DID try your tip around the 8 minute mark for raising Motor Idle Throttle Value. I raised it to 4.5, 6, 8, 10, and 10 fixed the issue briefly for one flight but then continued death rolling shortly after. I believe your fix comes from your first suggestions, although I'd raise the motor idle throttle value to 4.5 anyway just because that's where all my other quads are set at.

demag comp is just a timing change, that should never solve the problem you described. Your deathroll issue and its solution sound like a serious signal error, possibly induced voltage spikes into the signal pins. If that's the case then strong changes in power might cause it, high current going through the wires and sudden changes in current. Since we're on the topic... What if a motor does not stop properly? I have a quad which sometimes goes into a half roll when I'm dropping the throttle rapidly. BlHeli_s ESC. Blackbox says command for this motor is zero, but the quad continues to roll and pitch away from this motor for about a second. PID stops it from death rolling, but it's not pretty...
I need your help! I get death roll on a new build and I don't know what to do. this is my 10th quad all new gear never had this issue before. Once I get my quad in the air sometime after lift off i get a deathroll. I can't even get a log longer than 2 seconds cause it happens so fast. Props on right, motor direction good. got completely rid of horizon mode i thought it was only doing it in horizon but now i know it does it in acro too. I just bought new drone and v2 goggles, swithced to 6s so i got like 8 packs new. Im like 1500 dollars into this upgrade from my 4s and it's killing me that I can't fly. I did datalog but it only shows motors and stick movement. all I can see is that at some point all motors max out but not at the same time. I will pay you money to fix

I did this before I ever flew it and on my second flight it dropped and I wasn't even flying hard, using a 5s and landed on concrete and broke an arm..... is there any other ideas?
At first I thought it was battery, now I'm pretty sure it went off momentarily, but somehow recovered quickly. The sound and movement of the quad looks very much the same as mine does, and from others, going into DR. The quad did somekind of a yaw spin on its own, if it would be part of a trick , Bardwell would do it nicer, I guess
Good morning!!, Please, I need your help to solve a problem that I have with an Iflight IH3 pro (revobee mini 32K f4 FC) I had just bought. The problem is I had broke my FC USB port by accident when I soldered my spektrum serial receiver. So, to solve the issue of connecting with a PC, I'm using a FTDI converter connected to my UART1 configured on MSP (I had to flash a custom Betaflight firmware with MSP turned on in UART1). The big problem for me is that the UART 6 (the only free port on this board) is not usable for dsm2 because of it Sbus nature. Even though I can see there exist a UART3 on betaflight configurator, there is no UART3 pads on the board. I tried remaping serialrx 3 to a pin assigned to a pad called "LED" (I assume its for controlling a rgb led strip), but did not worked. (remaping worked fine, but betaflight still can´t see rx signal). Can you PLEASE help me to figure out where can I connect my dsm2 serial receiver on this damm board!!? I will really apreciate any suggestions! Thanks, Rodrigo Martinez.-
Hello! good video! a question, in the first image of the video, the drone appears with some protectors for the motors. Where can I get some like that? Thank you!
if you disarm the motor and arm the motor when is rolling or you disable and enable the air mode maybe... it isn't a solution but maybe you can save the drone..
@Joshua Bardwell I have just ordered mine yesterday, before I started to read about the Deathrolls .... :) But Banggood automatically gave me a PDB for free to my order. Could not be the PDB wrong on the ESC? I already asked them, now Im waiting for the answer. But why they gave me an extra PDB 2-8S 200A then?

I already have my drone all ready to fly. I tried it at home and I have a problem. Both the turn and the lateral displacement do it the other way around. (Yaw and Rol) In Betaflgth in the initial adjustment screen, in the drone display, it looks and moves well, but in the receiver tab, when moving the sticks the preview does it wrong. When hitting the right moves to the left. In my station the channel display behaves as in other drones that I have flown. @JoshuaBardwell mine did a runaway yesterday on its first 6S pack; was in the air 3-4 seconds 20metres high quick roll and bang to the ground and broke an arm.... It did displayed runaway in the OSD... My Demag was already set to High :( so I have now set runaway protection a little lower to 20% throttle and 300ms from what it was set at 25% and 500ms (shipped with 25/500) as well as setting gyro_overflow_decet = off Maybe all of these things together will allow 6S flight will test this today.. ...

Thank you @Joshua Bardwell your pointers have now made it possible to fly my HV.... Had to drop Startup Power right down to level 2 (0.047) but it seems to not deathroll now.... more testing to be 100% confident but this is a start
Hey @Joshua Bardwell , I recently purchased your flight controller and ever since had problems. I purchased it to replace a bad fc on one of my kwads. The replacement board turned out to be defective and RDQ shipped me a replacement one. This one worked better, and I put it in tonight. Everything works perfectly except for the esc's. They refuse to power on their led most of the time , and only one of them will occasionally connect to blheli_32 suite. They also fail to produce any start up tones. Before the switch they were fine, and I am using the same settings in betaflight as before. I don't know what do do to fix this, any help would be greatly appreciated.
The ESC should make startup tones whenever power is applied even with no FC at all. If the ESC makes no beeps when it's powered on, the ESC is not getting power, or is broken. Test with a multimeter to confirm battery voltage at the ESC power pads. If it's there and you still don't get any startup tones then the ESC is damaged or the motor is not connected. Email me or RDQ support for further help since I may not see your response to this comment.

So my question is for anyone to answer, It seems everyone is saying on 4s its fine but 6s it has the issue, I did the change Joshua said, unable to test due to SNOW!! but what is wrong with 5s? for anything I see its either 4s or 6s, I have a few 5s, is there a reason people shy away from 5s? seems a little more powerful than 4s but not as expensive as the 6s. Am I missing something? odd number of cells is an issue? I truly do not understand, any help is appreciated.
i have one of these and it flew great no issues at all. until the escs let all their smoke out. is there a direct replacement that will plug into the factory fc?
I was looking for a replacement FC for this quad a while back and couldn't find any spares. So I'm not sure it's available. And the real problem is it's a stackable plug header so you can't even buy some other ESC and solder it up. At least not very easily.
I have a question about what I need to do to setup my controller and everything :/ I know Joshua is a good pilot, but will my controller have the same capabilities right out of the box? Any downloads or updates I should do before? Thank you!
So I was gonna get this quad, now I'm not sure, I'm a beginner so this seemed like a good one to go for, I've had some small toy quads and have been using my taranis x9 to practice on the simulator,. Any other recommendations??

Since we're on the topic... What if a motor does not stop properly? I have a quad which sometimes goes into a half roll when I'm dropping the throttle rapidly. BlHeli_s ESC. Blackbox says command for this motor is zero, but the quad continues to roll and pitch away from this motor for about a second. PID stops it from death rolling, but it's not pretty...
Perfect landing!😂
Thanks for the update. Hey I have a problem with my video showing Black and white building blocks on the bottom half of the google view , any ideas.
hi joshua, how are you? my BABY NAZGUL 73MM keeps deth roolling hehehe a changed the motors thinking would be there the problem, but now im seen that could bee actually the ESC.. could you help me?
I did this before I ever flew it and on my second flight it dropped and I wasn't even flying hard, using a 5s and landed on concrete and broke an arm..... is there any other ideas?
what was that beep during punchout at 5:37? it was a single beep real quick... low voltage?
Yes possibly.
I think it's the ESC's little CPUs getting spiked by the 6S voltage and having a glitch, somewhat like the Cl_4s FC did. Not enough voltage filtering.
Good morning!!, Please, I need your help to solve a problem that I have
with an Iflight IH3 pro (revobee mini 32K f4 FC) I had just bought.
The problem is I had broke my FC USB port by accident when I soldered my
spektrum serial receiver.
So, to solve the issue of connecting with a PC, I'm using a FTDI
converter connected to my UART1 configured on MSP (I had to flash a
custom Betaflight firmware with MSP turned on in UART1).
The big problem for me is that the UART 6 (the only free port on this
board) is not usable for dsm2 because of it Sbus nature.
Even though I can see there exist a UART3 on betaflight configurator,
there is no UART3 pads on the board.
I tried remaping serialrx 3 to a pin assigned to a pad called "LED" (I
assume its for controlling a rgb led strip), but did not worked.
(remaping worked fine, but betaflight still can´t see rx signal).
Can you PLEASE help me to figure out where can I connect my dsm2 serial
receiver on this damm board!!?
I will really apreciate any suggestions!
Thanks,
Rodrigo Martinez.-
the change of startup power was te fix for you???
thanks brother this really helpped!!!!!!!!
Hello! good video! a question, in the first image of the video, the drone appears with some protectors for the motors.
Thanks Joshua
this could be the solution of my X140HV. Will try. Thanks
how do you download the software you used to fix it ?
What the blheli program your using? Is there a link to it? Thanks
Looks like your visit to Ryan was very fruitful! I am still waiting for the video for brake. Should we have it off or on. I have it on for safety reasons but I do not know the full down side.
I cant even get blheli to read on the wiz x220hv. What flight controller is on it? What rates is everyone useing?
I already have my drone all ready to fly.
I tried it at home and I have a problem. Both the turn and the lateral displacement do it the other way around. (Yaw and Rol)
In Betaflgth in the initial adjustment screen, in the drone display, it looks and moves well, but in the receiver tab, when moving the sticks the preview does it wrong. When hitting the right moves to the left.
In my station the channel display behaves as in other drones that I have flown. The displacements on the left give a maximum of 100 and those on the right a maximum of -100
My receiver is R-XSR
My Wizard X220HV drone
Channel configuration: AERT
Can you help me?
Set the mixer weight to -100 and it will reverse the channel.
Alternative: there is a channel reverse option in the outputs screen.
@@JoshuaBardwell Thank you. I had not found in the station the option to reverse the channels
@JoshuaBardwell mine did a runaway yesterday on its first 6S pack; was in the air 3-4 seconds 20metres high quick roll and bang to the ground and broke an arm.... It did displayed runaway in the OSD...
My Demag was already set to High :( so I have now set runaway protection a little lower to 20% throttle and 300ms from what it was set at 25% and 500ms (shipped with 25/500) as well as setting gyro_overflow_decet = off
Maybe all of these things together will allow 6S flight will test this today.. ...
Runaway is something different. Watch my video "Betaflight won't arm runaway". Search for it.
@@JoshuaBardwell Thank you; as always excellent content.. I fixed up the runaway I hope... its just weird it was already in the air for seconds and upto 20 meters high so it was not really a runaway...
@@JoshuaBardwell OK so I flew around again and did some fast rolls and flips and again it death rolled, I managed to get footage of this from the 1080p camera and there are no ESC beeps so its got me beat.... I will have a video on my Quad Wizard channel shortly... :(
Thank you @Joshua Bardwell your pointers have now made it possible to fly my HV.... Had to drop Startup Power right down to level 2 (0.047) but it seems to not deathroll now.... more testing to be 100% confident but this is a start
Thanks for the videos
Good info. Might help me out.
I still have mine brand new on my wall as my back up quad and now I'm afraid to fly it lol
How can i reduce the startup power on blheli32 suite??
I have a problem, i have a warning: Runaway, While I'm flying, I get this warning and the drone falls. Do you have repair or buy new fc?
Thanks video because in new eachine hv140 6s same problem ...and with your video now it is ok! First test hv140 death roll, death roll ...ok now with your configuration very thanks video ! MrT
I did that but it didn't fix it and I think it's my gyro or flight controller so I'm asking you what else you may think it is
It's your ESC.
@@JoshuaBardwellwe think the signal wire came lose or is coming lose on the flight controller... It fell out the sky and broke an arm and we saw that... It happened tonight
Hi my eachine connects to BLHELI, but it wont read the esc and advises to check the data- and power-connection does anyone know how to solve this?
Hi does that wizard have a microphone or was that from a GoPro thanks love the sound
That was from a GoPro.
Damn brother, not just intelligent anymore!! You're becoming quite the pilot!!! Way to put the hammer down on a bangood special!!
i guess it helps his exact property is on a simulator lol but yes much improved and props
Yeah it's funny I have the sim as well as velocidrone.....so guilty of not practicing!! I really should though. It just seems so floaty...for lack of better words! I dont it just seems unrealistic in my opinion.
McFlyAwayFPV same. I know it’d help but it just isn’t the same as the real thing, which makes it me not want to use it. I’d rather just go crash my noob beater (r239).
Thnaks Joshua i have done it but i taste in that when you are i acro and move witout props the quad in a fast roll it stops and resets , and that is why he falls down taste it and you will see that what iam flaying Tattu v 3 1300mph 6S 120C and he never falls down . its your settin in BL Heli and this in the CLI : Desconectar Runaway del dron en Betaflight:
1º. Set runaway_takeoff_prevention = OFF
2º. Save
Listo Saludos dsde Alicante Spain and happy flaying times :-)))))))))))))))))))))))
Jamming the connection harness into their sockets hard (connection between the boards) seems to fix that problem.
I just got mine, haven't flown it yet, and I am still new at this, so this is my first other than the tinyhawk I been practicing on.
Hey bro 5s is a really good size and it doesn't matter having od cells at all
i have one of these and it flew great no issues at all. until the escs let all their smoke out. is there a direct replacement that will plug into the factory fc?
I was looking for a replacement FC for this quad a while back and couldn't find any spares. So I'm not sure it's available. And the real problem is it's a stackable plug header so you can't even buy some other ESC and solder it up. At least not very easily.
😂😂 what sound dose the FC make I'm having truble following along
Nice Fix!!!
👍😀👍
I hope this will fix it. Or eachine will have fixed it on the next batch. Because I will order one for my birthday! It's not happening on 4s right?
I have a question about what I need to do to setup my controller and everything :/ I know Joshua is a good pilot, but will my controller have the same capabilities right out of the box? Any downloads or updates I should do before? Thank you!

So I was gonna get this quad, now I'm not sure, I'm a beginner so this seemed like a good one to go for, I've had some small toy quads and have been using my taranis x9 to practice on the simulator,. Any other recommendations??
Emax Hawk and Holybro Kopis 2 are my current go-to for 5" quads. They are a bit more expensive but they are damned good.
@@JoshuaBardwell cheers Joshua I'll have a look at them,. Your content is really great. Thanks so much
I had the Death roll and my first flight today. Broke 2 props and an arm and ripped of my RX antennas. Will try your solution and edit this comment after I got some results.
How do we know this is a footage done with wizard ;)
Did the black box data give any clues ?
No.... it just shows that the motor failed, but it doesn't say why.
I don’t have this issue but I do have an issue when I’m hovering it twitches to the right a little bit.i figured noise in the fc but do you think it could be esc demag as well? Thanks for your feedback
I don't think it's demag. It's likely gyro noise.
6:14 tight spot xD
I'm trying not to do this I really like this quad but I'm gonna eventually install a new stack if I dont crash and destroy it😁😎 your always awesome bardwell thanks👍
Great job, JB! 😊
I don't have one, but I do hope it fix things for most people. 😊
