Squeezing More Power from the LS3 Swap C10 - 1962 Supercharged & Bagged Chevy Stepside Ep. 11

- The slammed & supercharged Chevy C10 Stepside is hitting the dyno again this week! With the blower pushing closer to 10 lbs of boost into our LS3, our fuel pumps were struggling to keep up. So Andrew is yanking out our single 350 pump and replacing it with TWO 360 LPH pumps for a combined total of 720 LPH. This is more than enough fuel to see this C10 gain some more power on the rollers. But we're not stopping there. We're also changing up our exhaust system too! The customer took a test drive in the truck and wanted a bit more chop and a little less drone when cruising in the truck. So we're creating a custom x-pipe exhaust system to give this 1962 bagged stepside a new sound. Once all the work is complete, we're ripping this truck over to Blow By Racing to get it onto the dyno to see how much power we can pull out of this build and blown LS motor. All and all, we're super stoked with the numbers that our new pump set up got us, even when we blew the injectors out on our last run!
This isn't the last you're going to see of this truck though. The owner is going to be ripping on this thing soon enough; showing everyone what those dyno numbers mean when the rubber meets the road!

I mean this is in best way possible; I love seeing the guys who, obviously, know what the hell they're doing have a tough go at it sometimes too. Makes an amateur like myself feel more confident in my shortcomings. Keep it up, love what you guys are doing. And, you make us Florida Boys look good too.

That's what I love about these guys,, No hack jobs. I've seen pumps zip tied together and shoved in the tank. Customer can't see it. You have to be professional in every aspect of your job. And when you go home at the end of the day you feel damn good about the work you have done.

I prefer short exhaust pipes with outlaw mufflers, makes a nice sound especcially when slowing down.

I'm curious if that tiny air filter is enough for a supercharged V8. Seems like that would be starving the motor.
We don't have any issues with air flow. If anything we'd push the tubing farther out from the engine bay to keep our IAT down!

Lol, yah definitely not the norm. But there wasn’t any room to change that and we were only trying to get the sound further back and it worked. So it was a win

Hope pumps have check valves built in running duals. if not you won't get the correct pressures to the rail.
You guys do know Holly makes drop in fuel cell pumps right 6 8 12 bolt pattern
Then the customer would have to pay for a full new set up. Where with the dual 360 pumps, we already had them at the shop and just had to modify our hanger!

can you explain how the exhaust gets past the differential if and when the rear end is raised? it is absolutely incredible to watch y'all work. Keep it up.
That’s the question I was going to ask. Looks like it’s low forever, look out speed humps
When the truck is hanging on the lift, the entire suspension, including the rear end, is at full droop. It's as far apart as it will ever articulate. So the way the exhaust is being fabricated, the truck (if the wheels were touching the ground) would be sitting even higher than our highest ride height, even with the bags pumped to the max.
Where do you guys get all this knowledge it's incredible really is

really surprised that you went with such a small pump from the start for an FI setup on a v8.
We used similar sized pumps on similar builds. If we were N/A or even running only 5 lbs worth of boost, the 350 would have been more than sufficient. Even at 8/9 lbs of boost we were only running into fueling issues at the top end of our RPM range. We would have left the 350 in there too and just tuned down for the pump's capacity, but the owner wanted to see a number closer to 700 so we swapped her out!

Since yall are running duel high flow fuel pumps how did yall run them Power wise? Direct from battery so they have less chance of power drop with a keyed relay or just from the fuse box back to pumps? Also did yall test voltage @ pumps during different ram ranges? Would suck to have volt drop and have fuel cut out and burn that motor up.
The pumps got their own small panel right in the back of the truck that ran direct from the battery. That's what you see Andrew wiring them into in that segment. Andrew's really good with electrical and made sure that all the voltages were correct, even when we were pushing those pumps to the limit. We also kept an eye on that fuel pressure, and even throughout the dyno tuning we didn't see any signs of fuel drop off!
@@SalvagetoSavage that's awesome. I wasn't sure if his wiring was from the other fuse box or its own. I know that sometimes the wiring and voltage from dual pumps tends to get overlooked sometimes. Truck looks great can't wait to see some burnouts
I really enjoy this channel but what happened to Tim Moceri? He was an excellent fabricator. Also did that duel fuel pump set up fit into that fuel cell or did y’all have to buy a new one?
Tim moved on to other projects. The dual fuel set up worked. We just had to modify our brackets for it!

Yup! We're running a stock ECU tweaked with the HP tuners software!
@@SalvagetoSavage who is the tuner? I've got a turbo 5.3 that I'm running a stock ecm on and tuning myself but I can't seem to find a professional tuner that wants to work with a stock ecm.
Shouldn’t the x pipe be before the mufflers coming out of the headers into them and then straight pipe out?
Yes in most cases that’s correct, but there was much room to change the design and our main goal was to get the sound further back and it worked so it was a win

Probably! Blow By Racing does mainly Mustang performance builds!
Off subject but, Please help me understand I'm old school I have a 671 on my 354 small block every revolution of the blower pushes 426 cubic inches into the motor. Now doing the math your 6.2L (378 cubic inches ) has a M122 which from what I could find only pushes per revolution 1.22L (74.44 cubic inches). Are you overdriving the crap out of it? This really has me confused it looks like you put a choke point on top your motor. What am I missing?

Isn't chop down to cam and tuning?
The overall chop of your exhaust will be dictated by your cam; but your exhaust set up can play a big part in how well you'll be able to hear it

Well Phil, we have v clamps right after the muffler so it can be removed in a jiffy. So I guess we’re not that “stupid “ 🫢
you finally mentioned in another video that that motor is not a LS3.... my L92... not a ls3... with a vortech v3 made the same power... hp... but over 600 torque at 3400 rpm.... at 11 psi with a single 345 lph pump... something your doing is wrong... you dont need that much fuel to make that much power..
I would have taken a electrical outlet hole punch and just knocked two small reliefs in and bolted it back in.
You should borrow one next time.
