actually, it works for basically everyone!
drop the kids off at school
drop my friend off at her house
pick a friend up from the airport
airport drop off and pick up is also very common!
if you take someone in your car to a place we often use drop off and if you bring them back to their home by car, we pick them up

Great question, it’s more emphasis, yes we really truly do have the bus! America really truly does have the big yellow bus. It emphasizes the verb more in the sentence ☺️ hope that helps!
