Hi hello Linda, what an absolute blessing of mother nature to offer such a good harvest, I enjoyed every minute of your video's content , it's amazing how we actually do our garden at the same time but different seasons, over here it's spring time, and to you it's autumn time, how many good pumpkins soups ahead soon !!!, a way of mother nature to say thank for sharing your knowledge with us worldwide , merci beaucoup pour votre partage avec nous love from 🇫🇷 Merci ❤
Linda, WOW! What a beautiful harvest. I especially love the vibrant colors of the Turk's Turban. I would enjoy seeing you prepare the pumpkins, particularly any savory recipes you have. Today I put my dill seedlings and winter squash seedlings outside to begin hardening off. As you put your garden to bed, I am preparing to get mine going.
@@huttonsvalleypermaculture This season I am trying Jarrahdale, Sweet Dumpling & Boston Marrow. I am girding my loins and preparing to do battle with the noxious squash vine borer.
@sueperkins8853 hi Sue - just discovered your generous gift - thank you so much. Sorry for slow thanks - I forget to check my HVP email where I get notifications. Thank you xx
Great harvest Linda! I’m so pleased the seeds did well for you as our climates are pretty similar. The japnuts are really nice for soup and roasting. Ours are ready for picking too! Enjoy 😊 xx Cathi xx 😘
congratulations on a good harvest, 2024 is already more colorful than the 2023 harvest. I am very impressed with the red pumpkins, they have a different shape than the other types ☺️
Yep I really upped the colours this season without making a conscious effort to do so. Will maybe give more thought to the varieties for next year to ensure ongoing beautiful harvests!!
They are certainly heaps of fun to grow - I love the early season checking what pumpkins have started, watching as they grow bigger, then the harvest is always a surprise with some hiding from view and when they are all piled up it's amazing to see what the garden has produced - a definite winner!!
Yes - I made the comment about being a christmas display but looking back it was definitely more like an easter egg hunt - just a little more nutritious perhaps - Happy Easter Christa
A fun treasure hunt then look at that gorgeous, colourful pile. I am determined that next season, I'm planting many more pumpkins everywhere. I want my own huge pile of pumpkins . That one was a monster! I guessed 10.5kg. I wonder if you'll have plenty of pumpkin recipes coming up. Lol. Thanks for sharing lovely ❤🧡💛💚
Wow, what a beautiful harvest! Such a variety, it's such a nice feeling to have a good stockpile for meals and to share with others and our ducks/chickens : ). I also wanted to say thank you for all the interesting information about seed saving in your last video, that was really good, I hadn't thought about that with growing different varieties of pumpkins, zucchini and cucumbers. Always look forward to your video's, hope you've had a beautiful Easter weekend.
Thanks Joanna! Yes I’ve never given much thought to seed saving those things either but felt I should start sharing correct info 😆 Happy Easter to you and your family!
@@huttonsvalleypermaculture I have just purchased the Seed Savers Handbook, I've been trying for the last couple of years to put more time and effort into saving seed. For some reason, I never put a lot of thought into the cross pollination aspect. I'm very grateful for the fact that you not only inspire but get me thinking, so good!! You come across so welcoming and natural in your video's, it's like walking through the garden with a friend ☕🍊
@joannabrown4238 oh that’s a lovely comment - thank you! Sharing my garden via videos has brought me a whole world of online friends - so I get what you mean ☺️
It could have been worse - at least one pumpkin will make a tasty soup, lovely roasted pumpkin, pumpkin scones ... or ??? - I suppose the challenge is to work out what delicious recipe to make with it - enjoy!!!
@@huttonsvalleypermaculture Over here you can nowadays buy so called "decoration pumpkins" made out of plastic or even terracotta - we sure live in interesting times.
What a fabulous bounty!! That's a wonderful harvest of nutrition and flavour. Hopefully you will make a pumpkin recipes video? So jealous over here where we only had a single summer night that I didn't need my blankets! I have a few pepita that are still green, but i think should be yellow when ripe, so don't know whether they will make it now that there have been so many spiteful frosts. Also some teeny red kuri. I'll be buying my supply of pumpkins from a farmer living near the coast where the weather is so much warmer.
Wow pumpkins everywhere.I got none this year and a friend was the same. Our weather was really hot and I have to sort my rainwater as our council have put chlorine in the mains water and I'm sure it's made a negative difference with my plants. Next year onward and upward =-) Take care.
If you run your water into a drum or tank and leave it for a few hours, the chlorine will all evaporate. Then you can either have a hose running from the bottom of the drum, or use a watering can. I do this with my gravity fed water from a dam, because the water pressure is so low from a hose.

Planting a heap of different pumpkins just to ensure a pile in Autumn is a win! So much joy from this pile haha!!
weightlifting DONE!
This made me think about Kathy Bowman of "Move your DNA"-fame
It was a bit of a workout! Will have to check out who Kathy Bowman is for sure!

What a shame to have the frosts so early. Yep I'd be snapping up some of those pumpkins before they are all gone!

Oh that’s a shame! You’ll have to put a filter on your tap - the chlorine can affect the soil microbiology!! Better luck next year 🤞🤞

Might need a chainsaw on those big ones. Great video we both enjoyed it
haha - was thinking of a chainsaw - Kardella chainsaw pumpkin massacre!!
I use large knife and bang it with a rubber mallet. Usually cuts thru quite easily!
@janew5351 yes that’d do it!! Thanks 😊
