JB i think it needs to go to at least halfway through EV3 so we can see some of the drama with Dawn's departure as well as "Don't Let Go (Love)", "Runaway Love" and "Whatta Man" with Salt N Pepa so we can see how everything EnVogue touched (or was involved with) turned to gold and platinum, even in between albums/cds, but people were still making shitty decisions.
We had already recorded the episode by the time you wrote in, but we have your message set aside to read on the next one! We're glad you enjoyed the episode. Thanks for listening!
Welcome Back! I missed you....were are the other two? So many great points in this podcast I'll just bullet them: * Not a point but wanted to start off with Rhona's new song butterfly- Do you like it? ua-cam.com/video/DrOOVvpncNE/v-deo.html * Agreed - EV continues to miss out on opportunities.. I just thought of them when SWV did Tiny Desk recently. Also the Essence Festival...they shoulda been there this past weekend. * Agreed to testing new music out on the road because most likely we Die-Hard Fans are the ones that will buy it. I would love a collab between TTT & Them but as you said the past relationship dynamics may mess it up. But a collab between them and B2M would also be good. Regarding Girl Group collabs.... I would love to see them do something with the Shindellas. * Regarding deals: I agree that cashing in on how good they look could REALLY be the thing that brings them back. They should do something like the cover girl campaign the way Latifah does (taking notes from her success off of how she looks). I can Also see them promoting healthy lifestyle stuff like exercise and diet * Regarding who sings the best I think it does not apply because they were meant to be an ensemble that blends well and sounds unique when doing solos. Their individual solos are SO unique that they are incomparable. I think the Shindellas have that quality as well. * The Electric Cafe songs I still listen to...Reach 4 Me, Oceans Deep, and I love the way (It reminds me of the pointer sisters). *Your answer for Caroline is correct. Go to a Therapist that specializes in bereavement. Google "Bereavement or Grief Psychotherapy" in your zip code for in-person therapy. If you prefer online (telehealth) google that in your state. It is very accessible for all kinds of insurance. If you have private insurance go on their website and choose therapists that take your plan. The same applies to state insurance and medicaid. There is always a way to find help. The help is there.... peace & love ☮💜
I agree, I don't think Raphael Saadiq gave his best work to EV with "I'm Good" but also maybe EV didn't demand the best from him or much from most of the production on that album. Maybe they actually truly like the music that ended up on EC or maybe they were over the recording process after awhile and wanted to be done with it lol. I would actually be interested to hear their honest opinions on their music one day lol. In regards to EV5 working together whether they like each other or not well sometimes it's not always about the money but having peace in your life. Working a 9-5 with co-workers you despise is one thing where once you clock out you don't have to see them the rest of the day or night, especially not on your days off. Being in a performing group where you're touring and promoting, spending like 10, 15, 20 something hours a day together, for months, can be draining. You'd want to be around people you like lol. Xscape comes to mind with that. While Kandi and LaTocha tolerated each other during Xscape's reunion tours, you can see how much happier the group is on both sides (for the most part) now that LaTocha isn't there. I did see the petition to have them receive a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame as well. I think they deserve it and all of them should be present. It's a shame that Dawn and Maxine has missed out on some EV's big events like: 1.When their "My Lovin" dresses were inducted into the Smithsonian's National Museum of African-American History & Culture. 2. Their cameo in 'Coming 2 America' & re-recording of "Whatta Man" for it (I think they should recorded a new song imo). 3. Their Billboard Music Awards performance of "Whatta Man" with Salt n Pepa. 4. Their NYE's performance. 5. Their performance on Jimmy Kimmel with Chance the Rapper. 6. Their time on the Masked Singer where they should've won (I really wanna hear an EV5 version of their "Leave The Door Open" cover). I would wanna hear new music from them as EV5 with top notch production, writing, arranging, and marketing teams. The Sylvia Rhone event was a sign that they could work as 5 imo. I really wanna hear more of their harmonies as a quintet especially 5 part harmonies ("My Lovin" is a good example of what we could hear; there's a fifth male voice, probably Tommy or Denny, singing the lowest harmony part under Maxine's) . They can revamp their songs: A. Adding back this intro to "Whatta Man" when they perform it: ua-cam.com/video/xsge4MB_XJc/v-deo.htmlsi=r7d4jLyfrzh3Lmz3 B. Adding back this outro to Don't Let Go when they perform it: ua-cam.com/video/-TUDGm5-ohQ/v-deo.htmlsi=FN3Z3vcNu48WSCpz&t=230

I just googled Anissa Felix. I can see it.
