I have a friend who's in this industry. According to him, people are highly underpaid with a TREMENDOUS amount of work. This is not something we should be proud of. I mean around 350 dollars a month is not worth it.

That is because graphics , gaming and social media are booming and have yet to turn into big industries like the IT . A lot of time , the boss of these small companies keep the maximum profit in their own pockets and you cannot even complain , because you would be replaced . And trust me a whole lot of people are ready to work in the same amount and are happy to replace you . I did freelance in graphics for a year and the most problem is because a whole lot of college students take this job , working for a small time and thus they dont complain about the small pay . But it becomes a problem for those who want to work permanently , because the average pay decreases with such situations.

Very recently movies have started to be produced of finer qualities . Indians now realised that instead of running out to foreign to help them develop their computer skills and graphics and produce blockbuster ,Oscar level ,historical record breaking box office collection movies for a cheaper price , it's now time to step up our own nations graphics industry. Also the indian film industry have now using proper management of their resources or funds , not just giving like 60-75% of the budget to the cast instead investing on proper storylines and real production.

Edit: Since most of you guys are completely ignoring my replies under this comment, i will say it here, YES i agree that a lot of vfx artists in Hollywood movies are from India but, what I'm trying to say is, that our movies don't even have 10% of a Hollywood movie's budget(not that we don't have skilled/talented vfx artists in India) and that's why we are far from taking over the vfx industry.

  • @kayyesdee

I think it's universally true that the VFX artists are paid less than what they deserve given the amount of work. Coming to India, Film producers tread with thin margins as the result of the film getting a hit or flop decides his profit after he spends everything. These days every film needs some amount of VFX. The Producer who makes a small budget film will obviously allocate a very small chunk of it to VFX after the whole film is shot and this applies to the medium budgeted films too. So when the producer decides to get the VFX done at a cheaper price to increase the margin of the film profit or to decrease the margin of the loss if it becomes a flop or even if it's a good film with less box office. And the producer gives that price tag to the VFX company if a major company doesn't like the quote. A minor or a newer company takes it to showcase the number of films they've done to grab bigger projects resulting in the VFX artists getting paid less eventually. VFX training institutes also take small films to train their trainees with hands-on real-world films which the producers take advantage of as it's a win-win.

In this you can find a name Jakanna, it's SS RAJAMOULI nick name people used to call, this name was given by JR.NTR who played Bheem character in RRR. Jakanna (Amarashilpi Jakanachari) was an Indian legendary sculptor credited with building many fine temples and he gave very fine details in his sculptures, that's why Jr.NTR always call him as Jakanna, after people also started call him as Jakanna.

But the most expensive movie of India till now is worth only about 550 Crore INR, and including future projects, the most expensive movie in India will be Aadipurush and its budget is also not over 650 Crores INR.

The problem is If you earn $1500 in USA your expenses are $1800 due to high prices for things that are need to survive. For eg:- You pay for water, WATER! 🤨 Most of the water in india is free and even if we pay for monthly water connection bill its $0.0000310 per litre which is ultra cheap. on the other hand If you earn $1500 in India then you can live a normal life in just $385 and save the remaining amount for your retirement or invest it somewhere. But if you decide to spend whole $1500 every month that you earn the you can live a luxurious life in india. That's why High Salary in USA doesn't matter as expenses are High too.
