Pragg defeated Anish in the semis , Carlsen in the qualifiers and almost forced Armageddon on Ding in the finals . Also there was the slight matter of appearing for his board exams between the matches with Anish and Ding . Superhuman performance from him but well if you had to lose to someone in the finals none better than Ding (or Carlsen that goes without saying 🙂 ) .

I watched this on Magnus’s channel and saw the queen vs 3 minor units. And man, that one was super crazy. Believe it or not they were all crazy to watch! Praggu really showing how powerful he can be!

This series has been wild! Honestly I believe at least some of these games have been inspired by observing how alpha zero plays. I had thought that AI would ruin the game. Instead I think it has inspired the masters to be more creative.

I'm curious because this enjoyable cliff-hanger in the finals between an insanely talented 16 y.o. wonderkid vs a "heart-of-steel" 2800 should be given sufficiently compensating prize-money for one of them to earn enough to buy a set of airconditioner to seal his room from mosquitoes, and the other to get a chauffer-driven car to get him to the exam hall the next morning. BTW, why is it fair that all virtual/online games always conducted in the time schedule more suited to those in the Atlantic timeframe? If it is meant to be really a world-wide event in spirit, then it ought to be rostered in a fairer manner, in other words have a rotating time-frames suited to a truly world-wide online audience.

Hello, at 10:36 (rather than advancing white pawn) isn't white rook to G8 completely winning as it forces the exchange (losing a bishop) but opens for supported pawn to C7 ??
I am not analyzing with a computer but I am wondering at 6:00 why Pragg couldn't just take the c5 pawn as the knight would still be forking both rooks and the bishop. My gut instincts were screaming to get rid of that c5 pawn before Ding could play b4 or protect it with the bishop as he did in the game. Once Ding protected that pawn I already knew he was going to win that game. If there is some reason the immediate Bxc5 was bad, then NxB followed by Bxc5 certainly looks like a good practical way to play it in a blitz game. Having said all that, Pragg played amazingly well, especially given his age and taking school exams during this same time. He certainly can be a top player for many years to come, maybe even the very top player.
Prag was in winning position in both blitz, so it was probably fatigue and Ding’s experience. It is clear he has arrived. We have had many exciting players after the incomparable Vishy, like Vidit, Sasikiran, Adhiban, Harikrishna etc. But now we have someone to take Vishy’s mantle.

At 7:10 in the what-if scenario, the black night jumping to F3 with check would have been a better move than black bishop capturing. White would have to eliminate the knight with the g3 rook, and then the white knight could be captured?
Praggnanandhaa was winning in even both of his blitz games but ding put him a lot in time pressure and it costed him the whole tournament...Looking about the quality of games he played I think he just needs bit more experience and he will even soon cross 2700 in classical....
At 10:35 wasn´t here also a forced win on the board? White starts with Rook G1 to G8 - check, force a trade (let´s not forget about our good friend the bishop 🤭 - basically give up 2 pieces for the rook) afterwards just pawn C6 to C7, black either gives up the bishop but in the end white gets a queen never the less & win the game, or am i missing here something?

The truth is that he makes the videos before the games begin, and the players just watch them before the game and replicate the moves.

At 7:10 in the what-if scenario, the black night jumping to F3 with check would have been a better move than black bishop capturing. White would have to eliminate the knight with the g3 rook, and then the white knight could be captured?

Praggnanandhaa was winning in even both of his blitz games but ding put him a lot in time pressure and it costed him the whole tournament...Looking about the quality of games he played I think he just needs bit more experience and he will even soon cross 2700 in classical....

At 10:35 wasn´t here also a forced win on the board? White starts with Rook G1 to G8 - check, force a trade (let´s not forget about our good friend the bishop 🤭 - basically give up 2 pieces for the rook) afterwards just pawn C6 to C7, black either gives up the bishop but in the end white gets a queen never the less & win the game, or am i missing here something?
