The most beautiful thing about this episode is that he only heard the lady that was stuck. He heard her, and nobody else. That's when all might got the strenght to keep going, all because he heard one person believe in him.

    It always gets me...
Allmight's bait and switch punch. "It's weak!"
    - Mechanically, it is. His weight is wrong, it's an awkward angle. A clumsy hook without a lot of strength.
"That's because my back wasn't in it!"
    - A lunging step. Planted leading foot. Pivot at the hips. Tucked fist into a rotation out for full extension.
That's a hell of a lot more than his back.

Alica's "I need you to win" hit just as hard as the civilians begging All Might to win. She, in that moment, became one of the citizens watching the news. This is one of several reasons why I adore Alica as a reactor. She's so perceptive, but also so invested in the show that she BECOMES part of the show! She transforms into someone on the side, watching everything going on, as opposed to a force observing the universe. I respect her a lot, and wish her nothing but the best! Maybe when I am more financially stable I'll toss some money her way to help with her cancer recovery. She deserves it.

Horikoshi's writing. You've got the lines like 'that's because my back wasn't in it', and AfO's 'that's something I would do'. Just on a line by line level, really powerful stuff.
You've also got the super subtle worldbuilding about All Might's past, deciding to be the symbol of peace because the world they lived in was so crime-ridden even with heroes working against the chaos of a superpowered society (remember this when more of the history comes up, All Might is GOAT).
The pressure on the narrative for the main characters to do the same thing.
Work in Endeavor's motivation at the same time.

12:25 no need to relax, you're exactly right. As I saw one person put it, Endeavor is basically a reflection of what Bakugo's future would be like if he continued to hold on to jealousy and pride without getting proper closure. Of course the difference is Endeavor's pride extends to his progeny beating All Might. Bakugo would probably never take that route because no way he's letting some little sh!t kid of his be better than him.

I know I saw this in a reddit thread and elsewhere, but I still love this fact.
Can we appreciate WHY All Might is the Symbol of Peace? Because before All Might, evil ran rampant. AFO was at the peak of his power, criminal activity was at an all time and the attempts to bring peace constantly failed.
    All Might, stopped it.
All Might brought about a World of Peace where evil was put away and the World can shine bright once more.
One man, stopped the machinations of so much evil and power BY HIMSELF!
This is why this moment is so powerful (to me) as it shows the unyielding heart of the hero that All Might is, regardless of his form and just makes you think... just how effing strong WAS he in his prime, when THIS is him at his weakest?!

The second he sees All Might, battered and bruised, he screams out in rage. What is he thinking about? His own family and how he mistreated them. As awful of a person as he was outside of work, it's fascinating that in that very moment he immediately recalls his past actions, akin to asking: what was all the suffering he caused even for if it all ended up like this?

Still my favorite episode of the entire series
Fun fact: this fight was hyped up so much there was like 3 trailers for it throughout the 2 weeks between the last episode and this since it was a week break at the time lol

In this one case, I do prefer the English dub to the sub when it comes to Endeavor telling All Might about how he has always tried to surpass him, but no matter how hard he tried, it was never enough.
Here in the dub he says "What is with that pitiful back?!"
In the dub, he screams "STAND UP AND SHOW THEM WHY YOU'RE BETTER!" And for me, that hits SO much harder and deeper, and it says so much more about who Endeavor is as a character. Despite what he may say, there's is no one he respects more than All Might, because that is the person he has always measured himself against and been found wanting every time.

It's not. It's a mistranslation and completely misses what Endeavor was feeling at that moment. Endeavor sees All Might as this insurpassable wall, and to see him in this broken down, deflated state, completely shatters Endeavor's world view. That's why he asks "What is that pitiful back?!", because he can't understand how this man, who he has worked his entire life to surpass, could seem so weak and powerless.
Endeavor saying "stand up and show them why you're better" is not only a mistranslation, but it's also completely out of character for Endeavor.

12:10 Well you're not wrong. XD
It is fitting though, this whole series is about passing the torch on to the next generation-
History doesn't repeat, but it rhymes,.
Also fitting since we also saw all might getting passed the torch and how much he was like Deku.

Symbols have power beyond mere ink, cloth, and the muscle underneath. Though they are not as indestructible as one Bruce Wayne instance believed. At least, not here. Though of course, even when a symbol crumbles, those who it inspired may still stand firm.
You just KNOW that AFO aimed All Might specifically at that new chopper full of bystanders.
AFO: I cast Vicious Mockery, does my dark revelation give me advantage?
The only person All Might heard was the one immediately behind him.
Even beyond this one series' conventions, the number of times a superhero thinks back to their origin to find resolve is.... substantial. Or even if it's not for resolve, it's to contextualize who they are for the audience. Consider how many times we've read or watched the Waynes die over the decades of Batman Media. Of particular note in my mind is the graphic
I take zero offense at you saying Endeavor is similar to Bakugo. I actually agree with you on that.
A singular pillar with no backups. All Might's drive to be a symbol of peace means that if he falls today, the entire world will feel the shock.
The way All Might is rerouting power..... He may not be the greatest teacher, but it takes a wise master to learn from the apprentice.
UNITEDSTATESOFSMASH! Man, my best friend and I were whooping it up when we first saw this final blow.
He's out of juice, but he used the last drops well.
Don't you dare feel bad for crying. This is one of the most potent moments in the show, and it is exceptionally bittersweet.
Appreciate seeing snake lady actually heroing.
A whole lot of things are going to change. One thing that hasn't really is that Deku needs to speedrun his training. AFO is down for the count, but All Might just retired on international live news.

Still think this is a better kind of DEATH OF SUPERMAN story than film & animation adaptations we've seen.
You FEEL how much the crowd NEEDED All Might to win & how much was at stake for the world.
While he didn't die, it was the end of All Might.

I’m not normally someone who cries while watching anime. The think I only cried for Dragonball Z when I realized the story was over before Dragonball Super even was a thing. But this episode I have seen so many times and it makes me cry every single time. It’s so heartbreaking 💔
