Nothing has emotionally destroyed me more than Guardians Volume 3 idk if Alicia is ready for that since it is the most emotionally heavy Guardians story and a perfect send-off
It's kinda ironic that the movies within the MCU that pack the heaviest emotional punch is the trilogy that at first glance comes off as the lighthearted comedy break in-between the serious movies.
The Fact Fiend episode on how they got the car for this is amazing! Apparently they were trying to get a supercar but none of the companies wanted to touch it because yknow, the car crashes and nearly kills the main character. Except for Lamborgini, who gave them 4, based on the principle that "yeah, but he survives" suggesting that a Lambo is the safest car out there! Their only proviso was "It shouldn't be the cars fault". Love It! oh and WONG!
This is absolutely true. The Lamborghini Huracan is famously strong and overbuilt for the amount of torque the chassis and engine and transmission can hold. It's one of the few true modern all-weather supercars aside from the Corvette and Porsche 911. I used to see people drive them in the snow in Michigan all the time lol. And it doesn't hurt that it was a massive evolution of the R8 and had Audi's massive engineering might thrown behind the program.
Man, it is so great watching you watch these--it reminds me of my own journey with these movies when they were new. Seeing your lack of cynicism and just enjoying the ride is so wholesome and welcome.
Fun fact the guy who regained the ability to walk with magic is the guy who was testing out the hammertech ironman knock off suit in Ironman 2 that spun 180 degrees at the spine.
I thought that was the first call that Strange got in the car just before his accident "I've got a 35 year old Air Force colonel. Crushed his lower spine in some kind experimental armor. Mid-thorasic burst fracture." That isn't Jonathon Pangborn who was already healed.
This is a true martial arts movie, and not because it takes place in Asia, but because Strange's character arc involves substantial physical, mental and spiritual breakdown and regrowth.
This was a Movie I wanted to see in Theaters but wasn’t able to. The affects and CGI are incredible and this Movie is One of the Best that introduces a new character in the MCU
7:46 When I was diagnosed with Stage IV Hodgkins Lymphoma and told about the treatments I’d have to go through, my first thought was “how would the treatments affect me regarding my ability to have kids” because all my life I also lived for the day I’d get married and have kids so the fear that the treatment possibly making me unable to have kids scared me almost more than the cancer itself. The fear of being told you might not have them is truly terrifying. As you said, I’m also not against adoption but to have your own kids….its different. It’s something I’ve waited all my life for. Im fortunate to be 5 Years Remission and now considered Cancer Free, paid off all medical bills, and was even able to buy my first home this past year. The next step in my life is to now finally start looking for that special someone to share my life with. I look forward to the day where you give us the announcement of not only being considered Cancer Free but also having a child.
My all-time favorite comic character. Way back when I was a kid, the artwork captured my attention. As I got older, I loved the balance of him having incredible power, but how using it comes with a price. They whole 'cost vs reward' matrix makes it interesting to me.
Now Alicia has Guardians 2, Homecoming, Ragnarok and Black Panther, in that order, before Infinity War. She's in for a TREAT! Absolute BANGERS back to back before the Big One!
For those who dont know, at the start the reason that dr strange has all his watches rotating is because thats how you keep high end expensive watches calibrated
3:00 Benedict Cumberbatch was my immediate first pick for Stephen Strange after watching him on BBC's Sherlock. 😂I even guessed he was gonna do the Dr. House style American accent like Hugh Laurie did.
someone did the math and its estimated dr. strange died repeatedly for over 10 years inside dormamus domain, think about the pain and suffering he faced dying over and over and remembering EVERY death and the pain connected to it. thats a hero
I love how he's a jerk at first but develops as a character after he sees the Ancient One. Kind of a similar story to Tony Stark. You don't appreciate what you have until it's gone. 17:14: Oh this part trippy. 33:57: YES! XD 36:27: Yup! Oh we're leading up to something big here, Alicia!
People don't realize the eye of agamotto is not a relic that holds the time Stone. The eye itself is very powerful that's how the eye is able to hold the Infinity Stones similar to Ronan the accuser universal weapon which held the power Stone shown in the guardians of the Galaxy film. When the power Stone itself can vaporize a planet and yet there were items in the film shown to be able to contain the infinity stone but only Ronan universal weapon could use the infinity stone power without shattering.
So, apparently Dr. Strange has Photographic memory. This is why he can learn so well and retain all of the information perfectly. Essentially, this makes him the greatest possible person to be a wizard.
i remember when people were campaigning for him to be doc strange. i mean, the guy is the spit image of the original. its how RDJ looked perfect as tony stark, and so on. their casting director deserves some award,
Fun Fact: in the closet scene the mop was not supposed to fall over but it did and genuinely scared Rachel McAdams making her scream and it was so funny they kept it.
This is one of my favorites of the MCU as well, so I'm glad you enjoyed it! I really loved how Strange was able to keep Dormamu at bay by losing over and over again, a great follow up on how earlier in the film his drive to succeed was from fear of failure. And yeah, *Wong* is a great character.
It took this long to have a superhero who implicitly refuses to kill, and they did it my incorporating his background as a doctor. Gotta give them credit for that.
When I was a kid in the 70s and my brother let me read his Marvel Comics collection, Dr. Strange was one of my favorite titles. So I was really looking forward to this movie to see how they translated him to MCU. I was so happy to see that he retained the colorful, trippy, and philosophical nature that the comic had possessed since it was created in the psychedelic 60s. I'm so glad you enjoyed it, too. Also, as I've gotten older the phrase 'pain and I are old friends' has resonated more and more.
Honestly as someone with multiple chronic illnesses and a hefty amount of painful doctor visits, Dr Strange was an immediate fav for me just cause I relate so much. ❤
Your reaction has made me realize this was even better than I always thought it was. The fact that you could so completely grasp his character within the first 20 mins says a lot about the character writing. Good shit. Also, im glad I'm always ready to tear up a bit during this one, because damn.
I laughed so hard when Chiwetel Ejiofor turned up in "Venom: The Last Dance" (which is TECHNICALLY also a part of MCU) as a totally different character, I was like "Really, Disney? You already ran out of actors for your Marvel movies?" 🤣
In the comics, Baron Mordo is Doctor Strange's archnemesis. He learned at the feet of the Ancient One and had vied for the position of the Sorcerer Supreme, but the Ancient One didn't think he was ready/worthy. He was always wanting more and more power... He hates Strange because he was an outsider that gained the vaunted title. He has tried to steal the Ancient One's powers a few times, and tried to unseat Strange constantly. He's also made many a deal with Dormammu, who has walked on Earth to try to take out Strange. Its always an epic battle when these two clash.
36:43 different stones different rules too. The eye in the comics is different too which the game more closely goes off the comics. So you're not running around with the time stone in Marvel Rivals lol.
Doctor Strange may not be my favorite MCU movie, but he is my favorite MCU character. The fact he's the only hero with a no kill rule and the movie actually explored it as part of his character and arc is so refreshing, and the film actually took a very clever spin on that idea Instead of him learning sometime murder is necessary evil, he stayed a pacifist and resolved the conflict non-violently, by sacrificing himself and being imaginative with magic, which is a call back to his responce to Mordo when he called him spineless for not killing, "You lack imagination" And my favorite part is, unlike other MCU heroes who chose to be heroes, Doctor Starnge didn't want to be one, but was forced to be one, because as Ancient One said, "it's not about you." He became a hero despite he didn't want to, because it's the right thing to do, to me that's 100x more heroice and compelling His conversation with Ancient One is still in my opinion, the best scene in the entire MCU, and it's actually thought provoking, and not fake thought provoking like the conversation between Ultron and Vision
I love Marvel Rivals for the fact that it introduces so many people to the comics, Alicia's excitement at the beginning made my heart skip a beat lol ✨✨
31:16 tbh I’m not the biggest fan of this moment with the cape, it should be intense to show his determination for his new responsibility with the power he has, and they play it off for a joke instead.
Yay, you got to see what "magic Tony Stark" is all about! I love Dr. Strange too. But I'm also a wizard and sorcerer simp from D&D background so...lol. Thanks for the vid, Alicee!! We loves you!
Cosmic Dormammu is crazy looking but the OG fiery skull demon version is what most stuff will show of him The reason no one tried to restore the pages is because the book was part of the Ancient One's "Forbidden section" so no one but her would've even known the pages were gone
Alicia! That scene where the broom fell and Dr. Christine squealed was non-scripted, she wasn’t expecting it to fall and so she genuinely screamed as a response out of shock 😂 which makes it so much better!
Alicia's reaction to Steven's hands reminds me of a short comic by Erin Roseberry called Fantasy is Metaphor for the Human Condition. Its about having post concussion syndrome and having to relearn being an artist told through the framing of a little fox witch bumping their head and being unable to do magic properly anymore. It always struck a chord with me.
The Power stone is the only stone that overwhelms a (normal) person holding it. Also, as stated at the end of Guardians 1 that Peter is half human and half something else that helped him hold the stone.
Alisha, you're so strong. I just want to share that I lost my aunt about a year ago before Christmas to cancer. She and I were very close to the point that her son, my cousin, felt like my little brother, not just a cousin. I remember crying and praying for her recovery, but she was so strong up until the end. I miss her so much. Stay strong Alisha💪❤️
Doctor strange is easily my top all time fav superhero ever (maybe she hulk is in contention for that spot in a tie too.) and i love how well this movie nails him by the end. All summed up in that one line 'its not about you'. Cos thats what Strange is all about. A brilliant impossibly powerful man who lives with the understanding his purpose far outweighs his personal gain. also the sanctum santorum is without contest the COOLEST superhero lair in all of comic book history and the movie gets it right.

the reason why the guardians needed all that strength to wield the power stone was that the power stone does things to the person who wields it but the rest of them do not and thats why all else who have held infinity stones did not die
This was a fantastic reaction and I'm so happy to see how much you loved this movie. Also, that personal connection you had to Stephen was incredible ❤
23:23 It's a coincidence, it's a real address of an apartment in New York, 2 Marvel Writers (Roy Thomas and Gary Friedrich) used to share it in the 60s so Stan Lee (or maybe Steve Ditko) threw it in as a reference, ironically it does sound like 221B Baker Street, and then an actor who played Sherlock Holms would also play Doctor Strange in a movie 53 Years after it's debut in the comics
Dormammu is a terrifying mighty entity that is powerful enough to conquer Earth. But greatest reason he does not is that he holds the word he gave to Strange for a favor. So essentially, he is trapped in his dimension due to his honor. But whenever there is a loophole, he will take it and Earth is in trouble.
So, a little Easter Egg - the "22 year old woman with a malfunctioning implant" is actually referring to a villain by the name of TYPHOID MARY*, who is a street level assassin and hired goon who often goes up against characters like a certain *Devil Of Hell's Kitchen (whose own show started the same year as GotG Volume 1 and is often cited as one of Marvel's best adaptations).

It's kinda ironic that the movies within the MCU that pack the heaviest emotional punch is the trilogy that at first glance comes off as the lighthearted comedy break in-between the serious movies.
I cant wait for her reaction to gotg 3 💀💀🙏
@@dreamybullx1oh she will cryyy…..
A good messages this movie has. Like even if you spend your whole life on something, it doesn't mean it's your purpose.
I love how emotional you get with all these movies because that means you truly connect with them and that is priceless.
Imagine if she reacted to the marvel what if episode with doctor Strange
@@SaraTiggs ...Rhodey?
@@SaraTiggs I always thought that was referencing Rhoadey
@@SaraTiggs
That's probably Rhodey, since he's a full-bird colonel. The other guy would most likely be a lower officer rank.
Where is the Iron Man 2 connection confirmed?
This is a true martial arts movie, and not because it takes place in Asia, but because Strange's character arc involves substantial physical, mental and spiritual breakdown and regrowth.
This was a Movie I wanted to see in Theaters but wasn’t able to.
The affects and CGI are incredible and this Movie is One of the Best that introduces a new character in the MCU
Just rent a theater out and live that dream
I look forward to the day where you give us the announcement of not only being considered Cancer Free but also having a child.
wish to give Alicia a million hugs for the early part of the video
My all-time favorite comic character. Way back when I was a kid, the artwork captured my attention. As I got older, I loved the balance of him having incredible power, but how using it comes with a price. They whole 'cost vs reward' matrix makes it interesting to me.
Now Alicia has Guardians 2, Homecoming, Ragnarok and Black Panther, in that order, before Infinity War. She's in for a TREAT! Absolute BANGERS back to back before the Big One!
I mean, two bangers.
Guardians 2 is going to wreck her bad. Especially the discussion about his mother.
@@MasterofInterspace 3 depending on who you ask, all are bangers to me because well, im not a fucking idiot
What about the spiderman movies?
@@MasterofInterspace 4 they named 4 movies
For those who dont know, at the start the reason that dr strange has all his watches rotating is because thats how you keep high end expensive watches calibrated
3:00 Benedict Cumberbatch was my immediate first pick for Stephen Strange after watching him on BBC's Sherlock. 😂I even guessed he was gonna do the Dr. House style American accent like Hugh Laurie did.
23:15 177a is not a reference to Sherlock's home, it's literally where the comic writers lived at the time. That's what's really strange about this.
Ironically in the comics Strange was offered to be a medical consultant but his ego prevented him.
Strange, Loki and Stark in no particular order - the absolute GOATs
someone did the math and its estimated dr. strange died repeatedly for over 10 years inside dormamus domain, think about the pain and suffering he faced dying over and over and remembering EVERY death and the pain connected to it. thats a hero
That part where he says he could’ve done a better job with his hands reminds me what happened with Derek Shepherd in Grey’s Anatomy. 😢
Don't remind me, i still cry like a baby 😭
Iirc its been a long running troupe in soap operas too." The only one good enough to save him was ...him😢"
ALICIA! I’VE COME TO BARGAIN!
Now say that again, lol 😂
ALICIA
I've come to bargain!
ALICIA!
I've come to bargain!
I love how he's a jerk at first but develops as a character after he sees the Ancient One. Kind of a similar story to Tony Stark. You don't appreciate what you have until it's gone.
17:14: Oh this part trippy.
33:57: YES! XD
36:27: Yup!
When the power Stone itself can vaporize a planet and yet there were items in the film shown to be able to contain the infinity stone but only Ronan universal weapon could use the infinity stone power without shattering.
hope he uses it to hold the eye he got
So, apparently Dr. Strange has Photographic memory. This is why he can learn so well and retain all of the information perfectly.
Essentially, this makes him the greatest possible person to be a wizard.
Benedict Cumberbatch played a perfect Dr. Strange in this movie and the sequel
i remember when people were campaigning for him to be doc strange. i mean, the guy is the spit image of the original. its how RDJ looked perfect as tony stark, and so on.
their casting director deserves some award,
@@marcosdheleno agreed 100%
Fun Fact: in the closet scene the mop was not supposed to fall over but it did and genuinely scared Rachel McAdams making her scream and it was so funny they kept it.
No matter how many times this movie gets reacted to, I always end up watching those reactions.
In the begining of the movie, in the car before the crash, the person who needed spinal surgery was Rhodey after Civil War.
Honestly as someone with multiple chronic illnesses and a hefty amount of painful doctor visits, Dr Strange was an immediate fav for me just cause I relate so much. ❤
Next week is Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2! I'm so excited!!😁
Your reaction has made me realize this was even better than I always thought it was. The fact that you could so completely grasp his character within the first 20 mins says a lot about the character writing. Good shit. Also, im glad I'm always ready to tear up a bit during this one, because damn.
alicia has finally entered the wong cinematic universe iykyk
I laughed so hard when Chiwetel Ejiofor turned up in "Venom: The Last Dance" (which is TECHNICALLY also a part of MCU) as a totally different character, I was like "Really, Disney? You already ran out of actors for your Marvel movies?" 🤣
It’s so cool how they made movies about all the characters from marvel rivals
The fact he's the only hero with a no kill rule and the movie actually explored it as part of his character and arc is so refreshing, and the film actually took a very clever spin on that idea
Instead of him learning sometime murder is necessary evil, he stayed a pacifist and resolved the conflict non-violently, by sacrificing himself and being imaginative with magic, which is a call back to his responce to Mordo when he called him spineless for not killing, "You lack imagination"
And my favorite part is, unlike other MCU heroes who chose to be heroes, Doctor Starnge didn't want to be one, but was forced to be one, because as Ancient One said, "it's not about you." He became a hero despite he didn't want to, because it's the right thing to do, to me that's 100x more heroice and compelling
His conversation with Ancient One is still in my opinion, the best scene in the entire MCU, and it's actually thought provoking, and not fake thought provoking like the conversation between Ultron and Vision
Saw this movie in 3D in theaters, and it was the best experience with 3D I've ever had.
I want to say that in the comics, the Eye isn't an Infinity Gem, it's "merely" a magical artifact.
I love Marvel Rivals for the fact that it introduces so many people to the comics, Alicia's excitement at the beginning made my heart skip a beat lol ✨✨
I can’t wait to watch this on her Patreon when I get home from college!
17:03 - I always love how Tilda Swinton literally KNOCKS THE WHITE right out of Benedict Cumberbatch in this bit.
4:39 that’s not aesthetic… they self wind as they move so if you have them off for extended periods you need them rotating so they don’t stop
Cosmic Dormammu is crazy looking but the OG fiery skull demon version is what most stuff will show of him
The reason no one tried to restore the pages is because the book was part of the Ancient One's "Forbidden section" so no one but her would've even known the pages were gone
WOOO my favorite Marvel Character!!!! You should totally check out the animated Doctor Strange movie too. In any movie Wong is awesome
Alicia, as a medical interpreter, I've literally been through the same process with countless people. It's ok to let things out.
Sherlock lives at 221b Baker Street. On many clocks I saw as I grew up, the 7's were upside-down 2's.
Ah, one of my favorite finales in MCU, I do love it when villain is defeated through NOT outgunning them.
33:40 - 34:08 🤣Dr Strange basically saved the Earth with a Groundhog Day, making Dormammu into Bill Murray smashing his alarm clock, with the radio playing Sonny/Cher.
🎵Just put your little hand in mine,
There ain't no hill or mountain we can't cliiiiiimb!
Babe! I got you, babe!🎵
✊️👊🤜⏰️💥
the reason why the guardians needed all that strength to wield the power stone was that the power stone does things to the person who wields it but the rest of them do not and thats why all else who have held infinity stones did not die
Honestly, my favorite solo movie from the MCU, it's so good!
8:30 I relate to that concept so much, everyone only really knows what they want if it's almost out of reach, including myself
“What’s the CG budget?”
“Yes”
23:24 No, that is, in fact, Doctor Strange's official address in the comics - 177A Bleecker Street, Greenwich Village, NYC.
fun fact theres a reason the watches are spinning. Its how the watches can stay accurate while not in use!
Doctor Strange is my top 3 Marvel heroes, alongside Ghost Rider and Dr. Doom
Yes, I consider Dr. Doom a hero, in his own way
And I love Wong too
