    Shoelaces! When we rope dropped Fantasyland, Alice in Wonderland was down, so we did Dumbo first, Mr Toad’s, Casey Jr., Snow White, Peter Pan (it had dropped to a 25 minute wait), Pinocchio, and Tea cups. We did Storybook in the evening (not only was it a low wait, but it was all lit up), used a LL to ride “It’s a Small World” and turned a multi experience pass to ride Alice in Wonderland that night (our LL for Matterhorn turned into one because it went down). We still got to ride the Matterhorn on a different day.

    When I was 7 or 8, we were in line for the "Storybook Land Canal Boats". But I refused to get on the boat, because I saw boats go into Monstro, but they didn't come out. So the cast member, walked me down so I could see the boats coming out the back. Disney cast members are the best.

    This was an excellent video. Particularly for me, and I hung on every word. I've done rope drop with great success. We're going in November and have been busy planning (I started planning months ago). In spite of my better judgement and common sense, we are going to be able to do Early Entry. You better believe I intend to take full advantage. And our first day in will be Fantasyland for the little girls. You did FOUR in 1/2 hour. You reassured me that we should be able to do a lot without getting frazzled, and be able to get breakfast in there! Yes, we will take snacks with to help. I am really hoping that we can have a more leisurely time than we have had. My fault. I have always been a GOTTADOTHISANDTHATHURRY! type, since in the old days, we would go to Disneyland for one day and try to do it all. OH! And I realized that as I grew older and moved to different places, I call them SHOE LACES. But growing up in Wisconsin, we called them SHOE STRINGS.

      I am the “go go go!” Type person too. 😂 I’m always trying to maximize our day. And our boys love it. That’s the key there. If other family members don’t like the fast pace, then you gotta slow down.
      But there’s definitely a lot to be said about soaking it all in rather than rushing through your day.

Saved longer wait rides until later, when wait times dropped. Only waited 50 minutes for Rise of the Resistance. Longest wait time was at Cars, 60 minutes. 2nd day able to do Hyperspace Mt (they changed it over nite), Peter Pan's flight and Pirates, before 9 am. Thanks so much for your tips and tricks. We also were able to get walk up reservations for Lamplighter Lounge and get the Lobster Nacho's!

    About Matterhorn, it is in refurbishment again I noticed in your video. Is it normal that it has maintenance twice a year or is this year an exception?

      Haunted Mansion hands down if you don’t have Genie+ and don’t want to wait 60 minutes.

      I would rope drop Fantasyland as all of those rides aren't on Genie+, so it's better to ride them in the AM when there are minimal waits. You'll have Genie+ all day to hit those bigger rides with no to minimal waits.
      Plus, it's a waste to use Genie+ at 8 AM because there's no line to skip. You're better off using an LL on Space Mountain when you can skip 60 minutes, not 10 minutes. If that makes sense?

    1. if one has early entry, should we go ahead to rope drop Peter Pan?
    2. If one has early entry and rides Peter Pan at rope drop, then what time would one expect to make be able to make it back to a character breakfast at Plaza Inn? (trying to plan a character breakfast but don’t know ow what time to get)
    3. What would you advise is the best way to use one’s early entry?
    Thanks!!

    • @SoCalDisneyDad
      @SoCalDisneyDad  21 день тому +1

      Peter Pan has a 20 minute wait during early entry, so provided you arrive at 7:30 AM when it opens, you’ll have ridden it by 7:50 at the absolute worst. But you might get done sooner. You could potentially also ride Space Mountain before 8 AM and the regular rope drop crowds get released.
      If you did a 8:15 character breakfast that would allow you to check in anywhere from 8:00-8:30, which is plenty of time to ride both those rides provided you are ready to begin riding right at 7:30.
      Gates open at 7:15-7:20 I believe.

    What’s your strategy for 2 days, 1 park per day? Planning a trip end of July and I am hoping to have a great mix of rides, shows, dining experiences etc. There’s SO much to do/see!

      I mean, that's really hard to answer. Watch some of my older vlogs. Like 2 years ago old (should be able to scroll back in my Disneyland playlist ua-cam.com/play/PL_0Qje8SjlSDqdmiVcpA-Ps2W4nt5upCV.html)
      You'll be able to see what we have done in a day, but we almost never go see shows. My kids are pretty ride-focused.

      @@christinacorn8556 Oh, yes! For a young girl, you can’t miss either the Tangled or Beauty and the Beast show at the Fantasy Faire theater (to the left of the Castle when standing in the hub).
      Fantastic show.

      If she loves parades, the Magic Happens parade is phenomenal (usually has two times during the day).

    Rope dropping Fantasyland? Hmmmm personally I wouldn’t start my day in that section first unless u have small kids and toddlers then by all means go for it. If I was doing Fantasyland i’d probably do it after the fireworks which is a smart move since many kids are gone by then lol 😂. Also Toontown I plan to leave that one for last as its always crowded during the day. Now if we r talking about the Matterhorn being my first ride of course that would be the very first fantasyland ride lol

    Thanks for the tips
    We are Going last week of june, with our 14, 11 and 4 yo (4 yo first time) I was planning to use your fantasy Land strategy but wondering if All the thrill rides for our oldest Would be packed when we finished fantasyland
    What do you think is the best strategy ?
    We do have genie +, would you do fantasyland and book genie + rides later??
    Thanks for your advice

    • @SoCalDisneyDad
      @SoCalDisneyDad  Рік тому

      Use Genie+ for the thrill rides and definitely hit the fantasyland attractions first thing. You can knock a lot out during the first hour or two. And Genie+ is generally better used later when it’s busier (otherwise you’re basically just wasting it if the standby line is 5 minutes).

    • @SoCalDisneyDad
      @SoCalDisneyDad  8 місяців тому +1

      Not really, no. You can ride Mickey and Minnie’s with a pretty low wait (20ish minutes) between 9-10 AM most days.
      I generally advise not going to rides that instantly have higher waits (the places everyone else is going) because you’ll lose precious time during that first hour the park is open.
      You’re much better going to the walk-on attractions that later in the day will be 20-25+ minutes.
      Almost every single dark ride in Fantasyland with the exception of Peter Pan, is a walk on first thing in the AM.
      You could ride all 4 of the others besides Peter Pan in like 15 minutes right at park open.
      If you went up to Toon Town, there’s a good bet you’d still be in line for Mickey and Minnie’s at that point having not rode anything.
