We are at the airport now, just coming back from our Disneyland trip. We went to Goofy's Kitchen a week ago as it is a tradition every time we go to the parks. To me, it's never worth it but my kids absolutely love it and always say it's their favorite restaurant in the world, so I continue to pay for it every time.
It’s really the experience with the characters that make Goofy’s kitchen worth it for a special occasion. I think James enjoyed himself and Benjamin’s enthusiasm and the joy on his face made it truly a memorable splurge. The food actually looked delicious IMO.
Every penny invested in this type of restaurant is worth it, it is a memory for a lifetime. We have enjoyed the castle with the princesses, Winnie and his friends, Chef Mickey, among others and seeing our daughter happy makes us as a family happy. Aww. Happy birthday to James!!! 🎉🎂🥳 Great video, as always! Also, thank you sooo much for showing how to get to the restaurant. My sister and I have always wondered how to get there from Downtown Disney. Thanks to you, now we know! 😁
I went to Disneyland on the 4th of July and your tips saved my visit I rode all the rides I wanted to ride and more thank you for all the tips you’ve given us!
We stayed at the Disneyland hotel last month and at 3:00 the characters from Goofy's Kitchen came into the hotel lobby and would meet with any guests in the lobby. It was a fun surprise for us and our youngest daughter loved it!
Great video! We went recently we had a great time definitely worth it. The food was delicious. It is a must especially for a birthday celebration. We ordered the white chocolate birthday cake one of the best cakes I ever had! Worth the price.
So excited to watch! I was hoping you would review soon! We’re going in September for my sons 5th birthday, booked with get a way with your code! Can’t wait ! Love your channel ! 🥳
I love Goofy's kitchen. I went when I was going up each time we went with my parents and loved it. Now I take my family of four each time we go to Disneyland for the experience. 🎉❤ Never a dull moment. It is a little pricey and mostly pays for the character dining in my experience as an adult haha but as a kid and my kids now it was dope all around lol.
I agree, I love that place! Once when we were there they had Cruella DeVil coming around to the tables. She was great too! Can’t wait to eat there again.
I thought about going last year when we were there, but my kids are teens now and when the characters come to the table I would have had to do all the talking and it’s just too stressful for me 😅. But the food does look good. And James and Benjamin looked so happy, it think James will never forget his 10th birthday! 🩷🥳
I’m SO glad you guys finally made it to a character dining! We’ve done all three (and me and my youngest two kids have done the princess breakfast) and we loved goofy’s kitchen. It’s such a fun party environment. I would add to say that character dining is a great way to have some Disney in your trip if you don’t go to the parks. Our last trip we drove to San Diego and on our way back we stopped in Anaheim and did downtown Disney and finished at Goofy’s kitchen. It’s a great way to have a little Disney magic if a trip to the parks isn’t in the budget
I just had the warm chocolate chip cookie, the angry dog, and the boysen apple slushy based on your recommendations. They were all really good! Your videos and tips about rides and rope drop have helped our trip so much. Thank you!
I appreciate the review! We’re doing Goofy’s Kitchen our arrival day for dinner on Aug 6!!! And we’re celebrating 5 birthdays within the month, and my 40th birthday falls during our trip!!!! It’s definitely our birthday pick lol!
This is the character breakfast we haven’t done - thanks for covering this! We like Plaza Inn but there was always a line to see Minnie and she doesn’t roam around and no Mickey of course. Storytellers was better - we had both Mickey and Minnie and they spent time at each table.
I have done both Goofys Kitchen and Minnie's Breakfast and have enjoyed both. Yes, it's expensive but you're paying for the fun and the characters. I do recommend both. So glad it was a great birthday dinner. 😊
Im so happy you made this video🎉 Im planning my first time visit to Disneyland and I told my husband we should eat with the Caracthers at the park and hotels. Plus we are celebrating 2 Bdays🎉 Im doing the math with all the food that we are going to eat only Disneyland 4 days including Breakfast, Luch & Dinner for 3 people the total cost is more than 1,ooo$ This does not incluide tax or tips. Only price food. I have on my list Goffys Kitchen twice for Breackfast so Im so happy for this video. Thank You ❤🎉
That looks like such fun with the kids! We have done Cinderellas castle, Polynesian breakfast and garden grill character meals at WDW, but the food here actually looks pretty good 👍🏻
I went to Disneyland for my first near the end of march this year and i stayed at the Disneyland hotel and we did goofys kitchen even though we didnt have any kids in our party i loved it especially when the characters came to the table
Love Goofy's kitchen. Went for dinner once with family about 5 years ago, and wasn't a huge fan, but seeing what y'all had for offerings I think I need to go back. However, I absolutely love their Breakfast options. It's one of those things we do when we can afford it. We went back last year and I have to say, as someone with a dairy sensitivity, they're sorbet was delicious !It was a strawberry sorbet that you could tell was made fresh.
Also, I really suggest Minnie's Character breakfast at the plaza is pretty great. You see characters not often seen at other character breakfasts. From Hook, to all the Pooh characters, max and goofy, chip and dale, the mice from Cinderella and more. If your family ever has a chance to go, I highly recommend!
We like Minnie's Character breakfast at the Plaza Inn. It's breakfast food which we love and there are a lot more characters roaming around and in less time.
Next visit I need to take the kiddos to try. The roasted pineapple sold me more. The hubby and I just ate lunch at Brasao Brazilian steakhouse here in Texas and the roasted pineapple with cinnamon and sugar is amazing
So glad you took James to Goofy's for his birthday! I heard you guys say you've been to Storytellers but not the character breakfast. But I was gonna say, if you love breakfast food (I know you love those Mickey waffles), I think Goofy's breakfast/brunch is way better than dinner!! So definitely do that next time!! I've been to Goofy's a couple of times recently and Storyteller's as well, though it's been over 5 yrs since we've been to Storyteller's. It definitely wasnt as lively as Goofy's.. but it makes sense that it would feel more upscale to match the vibe of the Grand Californian. They didnt do any of that fun stuff with the characters parading around as you twirl your towels. Also, their characters are more critter based so Mickey & Minnie weren't even there but Chip & Dale were. Also, they are great with food allergies! They can have the chef come out and walk you through the buffet to let you know what's safe for you to eat. We requested vegan desserts for the kids and they brought a whole plate variety! Unfortunately it was for the palate of an adult 🤪 Character dining is a great way to guarantee meeting the classic characters all in one place and not having to wait in line! My kids definitely loved it! But it's def a splurge 🤑
@@SoCalDisneyDad 👍 the pricing is confusing character dining in the plaza is $142 but in others it was $15-$36? Thats a big gap in pricing. So im pretty sure im missing something.

That's one of the best benefits of the hotel restaurants, not sacrificing park time. We want to try Plaza next, but it'll be a few months. Maybe for Benjamin's birthday.
I like doing character meals. So many food options there. I have done The Plaza Inn twice. They have lots of characters. That's the only one I have done. It's a good way to meet characters if you have limited time. And don't want to wait in long lines. But it is expensive, I agree. But so much fun.

Hello I’m back from my slumber. I’d like to know if there will be a Disney world ride guide and roughly when it will come out + happy birthday James sorry I’m a bit late
@@SoCalDisneyDad Great thanks! I’m older now and having a meal there without younger people would be a bit awkward but when I used to go when I was younger I loved it.
I did a character dining many many years ago but it was in the grand Californian I think. It was meh... Goofys kitchen looks far better! I personally love buffets. I like being able to get my $ worth. Looks like they had a wide variety for all flavor palates! That's awesome.
Thanks for this! I'd love to go for our visit in September but it doesn't look very friendly for people who can't have any milk ingredients. If it was just me, I wouldn't care, but both kids would be very disappointed since they are in the same situation.
@@Tygmaa you might want to contact Disney via their chat. They often will work with allergies. They might be able to cook you something in the back at your request.
Is it necessary to purchase a birthday cake in your opinion? That birthday cupcake looked great and good enough for me plus the bday cakes at Disney are expensive!
We didn't buy a cake. Though I saw others who did. We couldn't have eaten it, though. I would really only do it if you plan to take it back to the room and eat it as a snack in the evenings or something.
Thank you so much for letting me know! I’ll definitely opt for the beautiful bday cupcake like the one your son got and for everyone else they can grab something from the buffet. I have been binge watching you guys for all the amazing tips since we’ll be there next week for three days! You guys are awesome!
We bought the cake and it was a mistake due to all the deserts they had. We took it back to the room but it needed to be refrigerated as it is a light sponge cake.
My family did the character breakfast at Ohana at the Polynesian. It cost about $200 for a family of 4. It was fun to do once, but not worth it. Also it felt very rushed and the service was not very good. But I do have great pics of my kids with Lilo and stitch, and Mickey and Pluto.
We spent more than that after tip for dinner at Ohana and it didn’t have characters. I’m not sure what the food is like at breakfast, but dinner was fantastic.
New sub here! We are 4.5 hours away from Orlando and we go to Disney World all the time... however, we will be in Vegas and L.A. in a few weeks to do Universal for SNW and Disneyland... How are Disneyland crowds during the week this summer? We plan to go on 7/24 with park-hopper and possibly Genie, but I'm not sure since at Disneyland you can only book upon entry if not staying at a Disney resort 😢 With that being said, do you think the difference is noticeable enough to go? & we are staying at Hotel Burbank so not close... Thanks in advance for any advice. I love your videos and Happy Belated Birthday to your son!
@@simpleandsweetshares2174 you can pre-purchase Genie+ without staying on property. You just have to do it at the point of purchasing your ticket. But Disneyland goers don’t use it as much as WDW so don’t worry. There’s plenty of availability and it does not run out early. There’s no 7 AM booking here. No one, on property or not, can book a reservation until they are physically scanned into the park. I think you’ll be fine and will have an awesome visit all the same.
@@simpleandsweetshares2174 Just one heads up, though. The day you are coming is the first day Genie+ is renamed as Lightning Lane Multi Pass. So there’ll be all new terminology. Same thing, but you’ll be looking at different wording on the app.

Ooh! I'm going to Goofy's Kitchen this upcoming Monday (for my Birthday) dinner! I'm vegan, would I need to talk to the chef prior (in advance) about request veganized items?
Plaza Inn is a great character breakfast. The food is the food, but some great character interactions with Chip & Dale and also Tigger when I visited. Plan on doing Goofy's Kitchen during my visit. I'm staying at the Discovery Tower, I hope I don't get lost finding it.
@@SoCalDisneyDad do a little game next time you are at Disneyland like grab a paper and write the rides names and area of parks and whatever ride u pulled out you go and do that
Tell me about it. There's a reason we haven't done it up until now. I just can't justify the cost when I can get a perfectly good meal for my whole family in the park for under $50. Hawaii is worse. Even their "quick service" is $80+ for a family of 4.
We always used to go to goofys kitchen until they opened storytellers, now we go there. The food is better and no reason to walk all the way over to the dl hotel for inferior food.
For the price it doesnt appear like the food selection is worth it. Seems like youre mostly paying for the character meets and even then only having 4 or 5 there doesnt make it seem worthwhile. Especially since you can run into more in Fantasy Land typically.
We thought all the main food was phenomenal. It looked great. Good selection. Very delicious. The only things we DIDN'T get were the basic American fare like chicken, pizza, and mac 'n cheese. If that's all you're interested in, this is definitely not the restaurant for you. McDonald's outside the park is much more affordable.
Took our daughter to this place. Definitely one of those things you try ones for splurge reasons, and that one time should be good enough. Cough*cough* lookin at you din tai fung with your overpriced small portions 🫣

I’d like to know if there will be a Disney world ride guide and roughly when it will come out + happy birthday James sorry I’m a bit late
When is the best time to see world of color? First showing or second showing?
Either, though the 2nd one might be slightly less crowded. Just make sure to grab a virtual queue for it to get the better viewing areas.
Great video Traver and happy birthday James! Could you tell me what exactly makes that price so high? Is it the food or the service from characters?
Character meals are always priced higher but it makes it fun for a celebratory meal
That ones the Storyteller's Breakfast.
What brand is your neck fan
Civpower or something. The link is in the video description.
@SoCalDisneyDad That would be an amazing option!! Thank you. I will.
Years ago they had an amazing breakfast lasagna that I still dream about. But it’s not there anymore… 😭😭😭😭
The PB&J pizza used to be much prettier in 2015. It had more of a wavy look like one of those bars from M&M meat shops.
Is it all you can eat.
Yes. A big buffet.
New sub here! We are 4.5 hours away from Orlando and we go to Disney World all the time... however, we will be in Vegas and L.A. in a few weeks to do Universal for SNW and Disneyland...
How are Disneyland crowds during the week this summer? We plan to go on 7/24 with park-hopper and possibly Genie, but I'm not sure since at Disneyland you can only book upon entry if not staying at a Disney resort 😢
With that being said, do you think the difference is noticeable enough to go?
@@SoCalDisneyDad I don't know how I almost missed this, but awesome feedback and advice!! Thank you sooo much for the detailed response. I absolutely cannot wait!! So glad I found your channel 💃
Ooh! I'm going to Goofy's Kitchen this upcoming Monday (for my Birthday) dinner! I'm vegan, would I need to talk to the chef prior (in advance) about request veganized items?
I would, yes. It never hurts to have a conversation with the chef for special requests.
Plaza Inn is a great character breakfast. The food is the food, but some great character interactions with Chip & Dale and also Tigger when I visited. Plan on doing Goofy's Kitchen during my visit. I'm staying at the Discovery Tower, I hope I don't get lost finding it.
So we decided just a road trip for my 2yo daughter..
5:26 crudite, pronounced like "crew-de-tay"
It was ok my daughter liked it but we don't have to go back she didn't care for the characters when she is eating 😅
The restaurant it looks like it's not that expensive 35 per adult maybe?????
@@sergioperez09 $60 per adult (ages 10+), $35 per child ages 3-9. Gratuity of 18% is automatically included in your bill.
@@SoCalDisneyDad honestly everything looked delicious 🤟 btw huge fan of your channel I've watched a lot of your videos
@@SoCalDisneyDad do a little game next time you are at Disneyland like grab a paper and write the rides names and area of parks and whatever ride u pulled out you go and do that
@@sergioperez09 That idea is actually on our to-do list! Not sure when it’ll get done. But in the next 2-3 months probably.
@@SoCalDisneyDad sounds awesome
$200 for not a luxury meal or experience is so crazy. Youd get fineee dining for that in the uk. Hahaa
Tell me about it. There's a reason we haven't done it up until now. I just can't justify the cost when I can get a perfectly good meal for my whole family in the park for under $50. Hawaii is worse. Even their "quick service" is $80+ for a family of 4.
Honestly, it looked like generic buffet food which is a little disappointing considering the price!
We always used to go to goofys kitchen until they opened storytellers, now we go there. The food is better and no reason to walk all the way over to the dl hotel for inferior food.
We haven’t been to Storytellers in a few years. But it’s usually our go-to buffet on property.
For the price it doesnt appear like the food selection is worth it. Seems like youre mostly paying for the character meets and even then only having 4 or 5 there doesnt make it seem worthwhile. Especially since you can run into more in Fantasy Land typically.
There’s chicken strips
@megastarwarsrocks99 that, pizza, mac n cheese and the corn dog nuggets really seemed like the best part
@@Bswing520 those are the best parts of any restaurant
We thought all the main food was phenomenal. It looked great. Good selection. Very delicious. The only things we DIDN'T get were the basic American fare like chicken, pizza, and mac 'n cheese.
If that's all you're interested in, this is definitely not the restaurant for you. McDonald's outside the park is much more affordable.
Really tired of watching people feed their face….
@cthulhu5101 Good thing I didn’t eat a single thing on camera then.
The pizzas were served to look like a hidden Mickey!
Took our daughter to this place. Definitely one of those things you try ones for splurge reasons, and that one time should be good enough. Cough*cough* lookin at you din tai fung with your overpriced small portions 🫣
@@HiSteOfMnd we are going to find out about that on Monday. 😅
