    This is part 3 of our carving lessons in the intermediate playlist. this time we go over sgraffito work, something that usually comes naturally when you mix any carving technique together with underglaze and a contrasting color palette.
    and this video will give a very small history lesson on what sgraffito is, where it came from, and how it was used.

    ( as a side note the entirety of The Grecian artwork you see on a regular basis is not entirely made with solely sgraffito but instead the images are outlined, coloured in ( with slip / underglaze or a different color) and the sgraffito technique is used to add most details)

      The music is top-notch for my channel. I seriously have a folder full of music in my computer that I use on a regular basis. You're actually my intro music.

    I love your videos but really wished you had shown what the second cup with the 2 colors of underglaze looked like after firing. I have a very tough time visualizing this and "final product" examples are very much appreciated.

    I'm a total newbie who has always wanted to do pottery. I would love to see a video of a pot taken from throwing to taking out of the glazing kiln. So many show various techniques in stages, but I would love to see the whole process. Thanks for sharing! I'm a new subscriber.

    Thank you! Im new to pottery- I'm assuming your greenware is leather hard at this time? How many days dry time did it take to get to this point?

    Just for clarification, use the fundamentals (Mayco) on unfired work... I can still glaze and fire to cone 6 after it has been bisqued with no loss of color?

    • @EarthNationCeramics
      @EarthNationCeramics  4 роки тому +2

      Yup. I use it on bisque all the time. Technically it says not to but it still works. It makes it easier to because I don't have to worry about damaging the product

    • @3_Cats_Pottery
      @3_Cats_Pottery 4 роки тому +1

      @@EarthNationCeramics Sorry, I mean, if I use the fundamentals before I bisque, bisque as normal, then I glaze and fire to cone 6, will the original color of the fundamentals remain?

    Hey Dante.....I LOVE your videos. Going forward would you consider using PG language so I can share with my high school students? Or put a rating on your vids so I know ahead of time?
    I know. Lame. But I always use your videos when possible. The only time I cant is when you make somewhat inappropriate jokes or swear. :)
