Sailing Into MEXICO! San Diego to Ensenada

- At last, we sail into Mexico!
In this one, we continue our sail from Catalina Island to San Diego. Once in San Diego, we restock on food that might be hard to find in Mexico, and take care of lots of little tasks around the boat. With dusk approaching and another long sail ahead, we shove off the dock and depart for Ensenada. The sail is a mixed bag, but we get there in time to start the check-in procedures.
The expensive moorage fees in Ensenada have us making our stop there quick, and just 26 hours after arriving, we sail off into the night and onto peaceful wild anchorages that await.
Thanks so much for tuning in!

Living the dream !
It's been a sweet journey!
Love the Video!
Thanks Kevin! Glad you enjoyed it!
San Diego was so much fun, & thanks for the shout out! Since this was filmed we have indeed started to get it together and upload haha
It was lovely to meet Roberta & John as well... man this is bringing back all the nostalgia already and it wasn't even that long ago! We loved having you guys and Galapagos over to our boat that time, and all the other hangouts!
We hope to see you around the PNW and back in Mexico in the fall!
@8:06 lurking Nordhavn in the background. 😍
They're good looking boats!
Catching up on your travels, looks awesome bro
Thanks Fin! I'll give you a holla soon!
Dolphins. You two are readers. I can remember being horrified reading old sailing books and they were busy munching away on dolphin. It was a favourite. Happy to say I finally looked it up. Dolphin fish are also known as dorado or mahi mahi. My favourite fish.
We certainly love all those dolpins that visit us day after day! And as you'll see later in the series, we get to know dorado, too!
Hello Cat and Trevor, I also follow Nike on sailboat Carl. She is also in Mexico, in the south. Maybe you meet. Her blog is White Spot Pirates. Thanks for the nice channel you both make. Bye Casper
Thanks Casper! I'll have look at those channels. Always fun to meet fellow video makers.
Cheers!
Ensenada.....agggh. Actually kinda like it now. You were smart to use an agent. It used to be 7 copies here and 12 copies there...4 different offices at every port in Mexico...every one....and fees from 300 - 400 pesos each port. We skipped ports we wanted to see. Ahhh, you young folk, have it easy you do. You have it easy. hehe
Yes, the agent/marina staff were great. Its actually included in the moorage fees at both of the marinas in Ensenada. No fees for the port captain check-ins at subsequent ports later.
Did you have to clear out of the US?
We had a hilarious amount of mixed messaging on the issue from fellow cruisers, but concluded we did not need to as there was no existing TIP on SDOC. We had no issue clearing into Mexico without having cleared out of the USA. I'll note we are a Canadian boat :)
@@SailingSeaDreamofClyde Interesting, thanks for the info.
Our pleasure!
Whenever i used someone's car or they drove me around for a day I would offer to fill the fuel tank and pay for it. It's a courtesy. I hope you did the same.
