Ann Widdecombe BLASTS Net Zero - “We Should Be World Leaders In Common Sense”

- Опубліковано 23 лип 2023
- Former MEP Ann Widdecombe says the electorate is ‘waking up’ to the quest for net zero, saying the UK produces “just one miserable per cent towards the Earth’s carbon emission”.
She adds that Rishi Sunak needs to learn a lesson after the result of the Uxbridge by-election, where success for the Conservatives was pinpointed to their campaigning against ULEZ, a tax on polluting vehicles.

Its about time the government was beholden to the people and not the corporations.
what instead of the fossil lobby who are in line for around 100 billion in tax breaks within the next few years.
+
the government spent 12 billion in the last 12 months propping up their exorbitant fuel prices with an energy subsidy
The sooner where off fossil the better and cheaper it will be
Do you mean like the corporations that fund right-wing propaganda channels like Talk-TV? Why do you think they are so opposed to climate change measures?

The number who clamoured for untested jabs, and the fact that the current excess death rate, is far higher than at any time during the Covid scare, kind of suggests that common sense, is a rare commodity here in the UK?

@@jimjones-bk2is The majority of the excess deaths are younger people, so they are keeping the results of the few post-mortems, that have been carried out, very quiet.

I think the price of second hand cars will get higher as they become more scarce. It will not be illegal to buy , sell or drive used ICE cars after 2030 so many drivers will still want them, until petrol filling stations begin to disappear that is.
Possibly but I think the Government will find a way to make it expensive.
We need a REFERNDUM about NET ZERO, the electorate were never asked if we wanted to except NET ZERO, it's been foisted on us by every political party.
Ridiculous idea.

When there is mass migration north because large parts of Africa and Asia become uninhabitable etc, etc…. What do you think that will do to your tax bill.
If the government had invested in insulating homes in this country your bills would be lower than they are now! Capiche petal?
I have no idea who is advising the senior leadership in our two main parties?
Love Ann Widdecombe. If you want to talk common sense Ann is the person to talk to. She never ever fails to impress. The Government would do well to listen to what she has to say.
She never fails to distress. What a relic from the 19th Century.
It was once common sense to believe that the earth is flat. Widdecombe’s “common sense” is at the same level of abject stupidity.
We need a government that has the guts to tell the electorate the true cost and benefits of achieving net zero and how this cost will be met. The taxpayers of this country should have a right to have a referendum on such an important issue so that the public and NOT scientists decide the future of the country.
We need a government that admits it has stolen from the people to feather their own nest.
Referendum is a stoooopid idea. Daily Express will lead the debate and ignore the science.
So how will you vote in a referendum about whether to wipe out the human race or not. Did Brexit teach you nothing about referendums by ignoramuses for ignoramuses? Let me guess…. You voted brexit!!!!

Commonsense shouldn't be hard! But when it comes to money, Commonsense goes out the window! So does loyalty to them, who put you in the position in the first place.
No one would mind if EVs and heat pumps made our lives better. They are expensive and increase the burden on our daily lives. If they where more convenient and better than what we have already got then with all the subsidies the salesman would be crushed in the rush.
How Far up our own Arses are we to think we can " control " the climate of a Celestial Body .
With regard to electric cars there is one thing that nobody seems to be talking about. What would the effect be when such a heavy vehicle (eg that wears out road surfaces) crashes into an ordinary family car? To lessen petrol consumption the most affordable cars today are manufactured to be lightweight.
The world is in one of its periodic times of warming...Bravo!
It's all one big joke, they must think that people are stupid! The most polluting vehicles on the planet are ships & aircraft. When the world governing bodies ban cruise ships (totally unnecessary) holiday jets, (totally necessary) private planes/helicopters/yachts, (totally necessary) and ships/planes transporting cargo from far afield (totally necessary) when we do or can produce our own stuff. When they do the above, I will start taking it seriously, I might even change my little (hardly polluting at all) Toyota Aygo for an EV. NO I WON'T! I couldn't handle the piss about charging the bloody thing🤬
according to the Mail they are "Looking At" all options EXCEPT the two important ones, I.e Car's and Gas Boilers they are determined to carry on with Both, THAT will lose them the election, Cars and Boilers are the 2 MAIN Reasons that people will reject the Tories
Don't look at the Mail. It's reflection always deceives.
Ann talks so much common see sense 😊
I wouldn't trust her with a knitting pattern.
It was once common sense to believe that the world was flat. Is that the kind of common sense that she is so full of?
Theresa May’s legacy to us.
Oh my goodness, someone speaking some sense at last
It's about replacing our war debt payments not the environment.
Common sense is not known by politicians,
Take your country back. Keep fighting. Vote no.
I thought you got it back with Boris. That was all a lie then?
Well said a voice of reason, who on minimum wages can afford heat pumps and electric cars!!
Oh and get Rishi Sunak prosecuted for crimes against humanity. And for cultural appropriation in London.
The last time a government told us what type of car to drive they told us to buy diesel, look how that turned out!
Electric cars are far more damaging to the environment and safety of the driver and passengers. Hard to recycle, toxic batteries and spontaneous combustion-quite lethal...
Incorrect.
Haven't you seen car fires from tanks of petrol exploding?
Dear o Dear. Sheltered lives everywhere.
I think we should go back to the days when a man was required to walk in front of automobiles to warn pedestrians of the oncoming danger.
@@ArtyFactual_Intelligence But less frequent. Petrol tanks are built to withstand a good impact now without exploding, believe me I've done it- the same cannot be said for fragile lithium battery based vehicles.. BTW you saying fires from petrol tanks exploding implies the fire was external otherwise the petrol would just explode. Also the fuel source in an EV is the source of fire with double the amount of energy.
If we actually wanted to go green without tanking our economy, we would base our import duty on an international ranking of countries green credentials.
200k per household to fix a problem that doesn't need fixing sounds like a bargain to me
That's the way to go if we want commonsense, Reform UK, thank you Ann Widdecombe
How much diesel will be required to blast our way into all the Lithium mines that'll be required for the electric car batteries? This stuff is just stupid!
Its illegal even for an MP to create and impose an obligation on another at Lore! SO why are people consenting to tyranny?
Our country has signed out rights way and we have no say
Ann for PM.
👏👏 someone intelligent - finally! Well done Ann
This is the equivalent of Mel Gibson yelling freedom!
One of the biggest headbangers Ann Widdecombe talking about common sense, now that's rich.
As we move closer to 2030 the manufacturers are obligated to sell less ICE cars by percentage. If they exceed that limit they will be fined per vehicle a significant amount….so many who wait until 2029 will be disappointed or pay a huge levy.
It's all unravelling.
Talking IT: bollocks in, bollocks out!
It isn't just changing the way we live to save the world, it's also about saving our neighbourhoods. Cleaner cars mean less particulate emissions in busy streets, especially those that pass by schools, hospitals and elder care facilities. Ann may remember the coal-generated pea souper fogs in London that my history teacher used to speak of. She'd walk from the training college back to her lodgings, and her headscarf and glasses were covered in a film of grime from the sooty air. That ended with changes to the rules around coal burning in the city. The beneficial effects of lowering emissions are local as well as global.
Wow! 👍
What ever happened to leadership? The government should be setting the narrative, not the journalists.
Of course we should be. Most of us are, but there are those that shout loudly who get heard. We need to find our voice.
Love Anne.
Weirdos on the internet are funny.
Really… you love Anne? Sad because she thinks you are a contemptible pillock.
Yep why the rush ...
Britain is in decline, it is losing relevance and respect abroad. Brexit has been an important factor in this. It is delusional to think that Britain could be world leader in anything. Certainly not in common sense. Britain's importance in the world is a thing of the past.
It is our duty to lead the world and be the first lemming over the cliff.
Well whenever I come across a bank of EV chargers, half of them are out of order 😮
Ann we love you.
We would be deeper in the smelly stuff than we already are.

Computer models are not science. They're hypothesis based on a whole bunch of assumptions any of which could be wrong. Often as not one or more of the assumptions are wrong. The model can be "tweaked" every time fresh data comes in, so it perfectly fits, but it has no predictive power whatsoever.
Follow the money

Governments need to lead. Not follow the most stupid lowest common denominator trash that retarded fascists spout out on the internet.
Let’s plant loads of trees.
Second-hand EVs are somewhat more affordable..more used sales than new sales...hello?
Yes, used ones are more affordable because they depreciate massively and because there aren't a huge amount of people out there willing to buy them. Someone buying a new Volkswagen ID3 will lose £19k in the first two years of ownership. The idea of that puts people off buying new, which is why we are currently seeing EV sales declining in the UK and Europe.
Ann should be in the next Reform Party government.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
Good one.
I love your sense of humour! How did Deform do in the recent bi-elections? Did they even retain their deposit?
Khan has to force ULEZ through or he will lose his 3rd job as chairman of C40.
Sadly that went years ago and will never return
Ulez is about air quality, not climate. It was introduced by boris johnson when he was mayor.
Khan is using it to fund his mis-management of TFL. And we now hear that the air polution in the tube is 18 times higher than above ground, perhaps that would be a better target for improving air quality.
So paying more money makes the air clean hey? You know very well it will be pocketed or wasted on anything but air quality.
@@user-lz3jz5kj3nit does if it prices you out, that’s what they are not saying about all this, vehicle usage reduces because you can’t afford to keep paying the price. The fact that people will not be able to work without a vehicle doesn’t concern Kahn etc.
What is ignored is the pollution in Africa where the pollution "rate" is as bad as the worst in the world, deforestation, plastics, worn out vehicles, destruction of wildlife habitats, over fishing in rivers, etc etc.

There is no such thing as THE SCIENCE.
Boris Johnson announced Net Zero as PM at COP26
Problem is statistics not science. Statistics can be read and interpreted by different people.
Problem is human nature is very relaxed till it happens. When it happens everyone is panicking. The bad events needs to happen first for people to do something. Same for covid we weren't prepared. And everyone was panicking. Same for climate change. Etc etc...
And this is why some people make a big fuss and others don't. Cause everyone is walking into the unknown and expect that everything will be fine and we'll survive and flourish till it might be too late.
Thing is human consumption is the problem. Its out of control. We work to produce more and to keep up with demand. If supply and demand is getting lower on ghe planet well reduce everything so fast. Unemployment is the problem. And governments don't want that. Or going through recession or depression.
Net zero - the Emperor's new clothes, but not for CCP
