- VN24 - 26.10.2021 - Unna / Germany - On the A1 freeway, shortly after the Dortmund/Unna junction (A1/A44), a rear-end collision involving two trucks occurred on the Bremen lane (northbound) at around 07:20 in the morning. The driver of a silo truck failed to notice the end of a traffic jam and collided with the truck in front of him, also an articulated truck. The impact was so violent that the entire driver's cab was torn off and moved back about one meter. The driver sustained injuries in the accident and was taken to hospital. The salvage work was difficult because the engine and the complete gearbox were torn off and threatened to fall out. These components had to be secured with belts and chains before the tractor could be towed away. Spilled engine and transmission oil contaminated the road surface over a large area. A specialist company had to clean the road surface using a hot steam process.

ProCADis is a DAF patented system which allows a pretty far cab displacement on the chassis during an crash, to prevent the cab from detaching from the chassis. In this way, the cabin construction is maintained and the occupants have the maximum survival space.
Of-course also present on the new XF, XG(+).....but in case of the new models the complete cabin construction is much stronger too...

I hope the driver is okay. COE trucks not as prominent in North America as they used to be because in cases such as this accident the driver is always first on the scene. Very professional rescue operation and cleanup after the fact.👍👍🇨🇦

That is not going to happen in Finland, on public at least. Even if The rescue team has got an enormous powerful truck for sustaining the wreckage, one shall put some axel stads under the thing to support it before he is going to do any kind of maintenances for it.
Germans are awesome. Handsome men and also steam cleaning their roads. Best wishes to this injured driver.
You forget about the fact that most Germans (not all) are rude as hell. They want to have everything in their stores but truck drivers are in general NOT welcome in Germany and whenever they have the chance, German people will let you feel it that you are not well educated.

Very heavy impact on the DAF, giving plenty of work for the Widiczek recovery crew who did a professional job with care.
at 10min IT is very doubtable that the work under the Crash Truck Isa work with carefor health. the woodpile under gearbox is to Löwe to Catch the Falling Truck when the Recovery Hydraulik has an failure
@@MrDriftspirit The blocking was to support and push the transmission back up into place so they could chain it there for transport. Nothing to do with safety for the worker.
No need of much care with this recovery..Truck next destination was the scrap heap..

Das Abreißen des Fahrerhaus ist so gewollt. Das gehört mit zum Sicherheitskonzept. Wenn der Fahrer nur mit leichten Verletzungen davon gekommen ist, hat das Konzept funktioniert. Wäre es nicht abgerissen, wäre das ganze bestimmt anders ausgegangen. Da hat der DAF und die Ingenieure gute Arbeit gemacht.

I am always wondering when I see the very long time need to prepare the trucks for towing why there is no trailer for damaged trucks? That could pull up the truck to its flatbed much faster even if the wheels are blocked (not spinning) and transport away from the autobahn for faster reopening.

on any motorways in the UK you can see many truck drivers who follow far to close, we have the technical knowledge now to stop trucks running into the back of other vehicles, its about time they were fitted. the cost of lives saved and damaged caused it must be well worth it.

I would have imagine battery cables would be first thing that would be disconnected, besides the cabin isolator. On the count of leaking fluids and all but I could be wrong.
But can also say it’s the last thing to be disconnected, as no cables in the way whilst strapping the cab down and no sparks flying
i would jack stands underneath may be that lift would have came down very unsafe

Auch wenn manche fahrer egal welcher Nationalität fahren wie die Schweine und Abstand gleich null halten,es sind auch nur Menschen und die Menschen machen auch Fehler. Wir sind alle nur Menschen und keine Maschinen.
Da geb ich dir recht, aber den Abstanstempomat und den Bremsassistent ausschalten das ist mutwillig und kein Fehler, ich hab mal ein LKW angehupt der wollte rechts von der BAB aber nicht bei einer Ausfahrt sonder durch die Leitplake, Spurhaltesysem? wohl auch abgeschaltet, wann begreifen endlich die Fahrer das diesen Systeme ihr Leben im Notfall retten und das anderer auch, ich werd mich hüten bei meinen Auto diese Systeme abzuschalten auch wenn sie mal nerven wegen nichts und wie oft hab ich es gesehen und gehofft das der LKW Fahrer es überlebt hat und erfahre Stunden später im Netz das er es nicht geschafft hat

Всем привет. Я считаю тягач надо было загрузить на трал раз у машины оторваны двигатель с коробкой и задний мост. Ребята там изобретают велосипед думая как что зацепить что бы не упало на дорогу. Опять же опасно в таком состоянии тянуть за собой битый автомобиль.

All truckers do it but thats what happens when u follow too closely and turn off the auto collision which again in order to follow so close they turn off.

This is company I have worked for. I've asked my friend who still works there and he said driver was ok. Few bruises and scratches. It was 6 months old truck.

Das Problem ist das viel der Kollegen die Assistenzsysteme abschalten .Und dadurch sind selbst Heute noch die Unfälle möglich.
Wenn man keine Ahnung hat, dann kommt immer gleich so eine unwissende Aussage.
Lass Dir gesagt sein, die ach so tolle Technik, ist bei Weitem nicht so toll, wie sie den ahnungslosen verkauft wird.
Und die ist heute für mehr Unfälle verantwortlich, als die Fahrer selber.
Schau Dir doch mal die Unfallzahlen der letzten Jahrzehnte an und wie deren Entwicklung mit der Einführung der ganzen Assistentsystemen verläuft.
Wem dabei nichts auffällt, sollte besser still sein, bzw. die Finger still halten.

5 Jahre XF gefahren. Der geht mal problemlos. Dann bremst der Grundlos. Mir fuhren 2 Autofahrer auf meinen Auflieger. Vollbremsung grundlos. Das nervt.

Ist das die neue LKW Sicherheitsfunktion für Stauauffahrunfälle? :-) Denke wenn das Fahrerhaus nicht soweit nach hinten gegangen wäre, hätte es für den Fahrer vermutlich anders enden können. Das waren vermutlich genau die 1 bis 1,5 Meter wo ihm das Leben gerettet haben.
Das war der berechnete constructions Faltzone. Die Leute von DAF wissen das genau. Kuck mal die Bolzen die abgeschoben und gebrochen sind. Alles genauestens berechnet.

Was nur "doof" an dieser Konstrucktion ist, dass man die dann ja wohl extra für so LKW Auffahrunfälle gemacht hat - nur dumm dass ein PKW wo dazwischen steht dann die "A-Karte" hat - also der LKW Fahrer ist geschützt, aber da der Unterbau nicht zurück geht, die PKW Insassen umso weniger.
