- Part of a Neolithic complex in North Yorkshire described as “the Stonehenge of the North”, the Thornborough Henges consist of three giant, circular earthworks each more than 100m in diameter. Dating from 3500 to 2500 BC, the henges are of outstanding national significance. The earthworks are thought to have been part of a 'ritual landscape', comparable with Salisbury Plain in south-west England, and are probably the most important single ancient site between Stonehenge and the Orkney Islands in Scotland.

You have a beautiful island and an extraordinary history that started long before christianity.
In Dublin Ireland there is another very similar one.
Magical place let's hope in the future the 3ed in the woods can be acquired.

Let's hope it can be given even a fraction of the archaeological attention give to Stonehenge, or to Stenness. Dig Ventures is headquartered right up the street in Barnard Castle. I'm sure they'd be burning to do a crowd-funded dig. Though really you need an academic of the stamp of Parker-Pearson to take a lifelong interest in it.
And the third henge under he trees...? That didn't get a look in!
Please sort out those pesky rabbits that are currently ruining the henges, there won’t be anything left above ground soon! The middle henge in particular is just a rabbit warren at the moment. 🙈
