Because those were character moments for the titular character. Gorr was just a one-and-done villain. Villains often get shafted on time because the movie isn't about them. But yeah, watching Gorr do his thing would have been much more entertaining.
Not to mention comedy that falls flatter than the bottle of coke I forgot n left out in the sun too long, hell even the jokes that somewhat hit got overused and killed... God I will never forgive what has been done to this movie.

I still haven't gotten more than 20 minutes into this shit show and given that Thor is my all time favorite Marvel character since WAAAAAY back ... like 30 years plus, that's saying something. This was an absolute travesty of a movie.
No one seems to know how to depict Thor on screen. He's supposed to be a 1500 year old war god, but that is challenging to write, so they depict him as a silly buffoon.
The real sin of the entire movie is after having half or more of the asguardians slaughtered by thanos and hela, then having the survivors get snapped away, the fact that the two play actors survived all of that is ridiculous
@@timshottakes4673 even still you telling me these mfs who were doing daily plays during ragnarok just managed to avoid hela ravaging the place and thanos on the ship

@@AzguardMike he didn't share his powers with Steve Rogers like the way he did with these kids tho. Steve got Thor powers because of Odin's enchantment on the hammer, "Whoever wields this hammer, should he be worthy, will have the powers of Thor" or close to that (paraphrasing here) Steve was essentially a second Thor as long as he's holding the hammer, much like Jane was when she became Mighty Thor
Still love how Gorr *The God Butcher* wasn't even shown fighting gods. We just saw he killed around three gods...off screen. He managed to kill gods bigger than him and he struggles with the rookie of Jane Fonda That's nice Taika, very nice
Are we not going to address the discontinuity in Korg's backstory. He ended up as a gladiator because he failed to make enough pamphlets and only his mum and her boyfriend turned up to the protest but now he has two dads.
@blissfullycat02 or maybe cuz taika wokiti is woke, and EVERY SINGLE MOVIE NOW seems to have to have gay characters, or straight characters that suddenly have a gay backstory.
Side note, as someone who recently lost a good friend to terminal cancer, she was fucking DARK with her cancer joke humour. It's a legit thing and kept her going through it all.
God this movie was so hyped but when it came out, it flunked like me in summer school. Seriously, it took such an interesting villain like Gorr and turned him into the boogey man from rise of the guardians
something i just noticed at 6:16 . That's not green fabric or rug or anything that Mjolnir is sitting on, that's Grass. The entire platform it's sitting in is the exact location where it fell when Hella broke it. They had to DIG A PIT around the thing just so they could keep it on a raised platforn at hip-level for everyone to see Because the unworthy can't move Mjolnir, even when it's broken apparently.
Surprised he didn't sin the girls reflection being Eternity, raising the question if the daughter was actually revived or did eternity just take her form to appease the villain.
Eternity did indeed revive her with its powers that's why the girl have laser eyes and stuff. The reflection was more like "I revive her with a fraction of my powers" thing. Believe me, Eternity won't be eating pancakes, being dumb and living with Thor like a "normal kid".
The implication of eternity running around as a child being guided by Thor negates any threat that Thor or any of his allies could ever have in the future.
Biggest SIn Missed: Valkyrie during Act 1 = hates being King wants to just die in battle and go to valhalla. Valkyrie in act 3: 'I'm going to skip the Final fight because I might die'
12:29 remember when he watched his brother die, and lost his whole planet but Asguards destruction is barely mentioned, Loki's name doesn't get said once and this back tattoo is the only thing to show Thor's "mourning"?
I don't know if you guys noticed because it's subtle but he has a black 'strand' curled in his braid and that's for Loki too, as I heard it was Norse culture to have a loved one's hair strand braided with yours. He had it in Age of Ultron after Loki's death in thor 2 too. But I agree that there should've been way more mention
Would have been cool if, at the end, Thor made his way to Eternity to make a wish to “bring back our loved ones” and Eternity turned away silently. Then Gorr mocked Thor saying “Do you now see how it feels to be ignored by the one to whom you pray?” Then Eternity turns back and says “I will grant one loved one”. Thor chooses Gorr’s daughter. Gorr sees that Thor is noble and relents from making his own wish to kill all of the Gods.
That would be awful lmao. Why given the chance would he choose to bring back the loved one of the person who is literally about to die. At that point it doesn’t matter if he gets redemption, the god butcher is gone either way. Of all the stupid shit to happen in the movie, gorr choosing love over god killing makes the most sense considering the necrosword was destroyed and no longer influencing him. That would just be stupid on Thor’s part, the whole movie was about how he loves Jane and wants to get back with her, him giving up on that at the end would make the ending just as inconsistent as the rest of the movie
Getting the girl playing Love into future films shouldn't be too hard. She's Chris Hemsworth's daughter. He took most of his family to the Premier because most of his family are in it - everyone had a cameo, so no-one was the +1
I think the point is for the stories they wanna tell. Of course he can get her the job, but who wants to see the kid involved in anything and everything that comes later...

Endgame teased us with Thor joining the Guardians in their search for Gamora. Taika Waititi gave us three minutes of them together that ultimately didn’t amount to anything. Not to mention that Quill and Mantis were the children of a godlike entity, which would likely put them both on Gorr’s hit list.
@@rickdesperthey are still gods no? Just because their power (well quills power mantis never had any that we know of) is gone, we don't even actually know that either that's just what Ego said and gods can lie like anyone else, doesn't mean someone who can sense godhood wouldn't be aware of their lineage. Never watched this movie never will but it makes sense that if the villain of this movie can sense godhood that he could tell mantis and Peter were the children of one. It's just another cheap way for these crappy movies to hand wave off the other heros we know should be involved in a scenario like this bc "tHiS iS tHoRs MoViE" and not an avengers movie.
That's dumb as fuck. By those standards, any person who died of a long-term disease should be in Valhalla (or because of any other idiomatic meaning of the word "battle").

The worst part of this movie is that you get a glimpse of what it could have been with Bale’s acting and scenes like the black-and-white planet, but then the rest of the movie is just full of barely-funny jokes. It had such potential
Big problem with the Korg thing. Didn't Korg say that his revolution failed because his Mum's boyfriend or something? Which means its a plot inconsistency because Korg refers to both his parents as his dads.
Being Greek and seeing that you recognized the correct name of Heralces and not Hercules is amazing ... well done Cinema Sins ! You deserve removal of 1 million sins !!
I’m not even Greek, I just appreciate the belief and that’s how I know that Heracles is the Greek version, Hercules is the Roman. I also apologize if I’ve offended you by mentioning the Roman version, that wasn’t my intention. I’m American, so I’m unfamiliar with what’s appropriate to talk about with people from other cultures.
To be fair with the sin with Jane entering Valhalla… she technically lost her “battle” with cancer, and it was excruciatingly painful for her throughout the entire process. At least that’s how I took it Edit: I’ll just make this edit and then I’m going to leave it be. I don’t care if this is how actual Valhalla works. I don’t care if what I said did or did not make logical sense for various situations or hypotheticals. This is MCU’s Valhalla, it’s not going to make sense. I only made a comment about a *personal* interpretation of a movie’s scene based on the rules presented within *this specific movie*. It’s literally an entertainment movie, it’s not always going to make sense, I just tried to make it make more sense than what it does
And since (especially the Waititi ones) Marvel movies like to mix actual mythology with modern perceptions and comic versions, I think the commonly held modern idea of Viking women who died in childbirth going to Valhalla is very sweet and applicable. While not true in actual Norse culture, dying of a long "battle" in illness, childbirth or fighting all share the common attributes that Marvel and modern society hold "warrior"-like: bravery, resilience, enduring pain and often self-sacrifice. I liked the idea, good on you Waititi.
This was three separate movies crammed together A movie about a woman dealing with cancer A movie about a man losing his faith and becoming angry A Chuck Lorre style comedy
We can blame the mother hormones, but bale played the villain amazingly. I was unnerved by his interactions with the kidnapped kids. And I cried hard at his ending. I was so invested in him that everything annoyed me.
I get you hehe, being invested in one character soo much that when the camera flips to another character who you don't care about, it feels dreadful 😂 but it is an achievement tho, that people don't want to see the character after whom the movie is named
9:51 Not only does the whiteboard show impossible to know past events, but also future events - Thor is depicted catching the fallen stone head of the Eternal statue, empowering the kids, and more from the very end.
Which means this is the writers ' storyboard themselves made for the movie, and left on set and didn't even bother to move, so they just improv the whole thing as a "haha, joke" whiteboard with lots of expositions.
Something I think is deserving of a sin is when Korg says he was born from his dad and his dad. I don’t have a problem with it because that’s not how humans reproduce nor because it’s unconventional. But because in the very first scene with Korg in Ragnorok, he specifically mentions his “mum and her boyfriend,” which was a very funny line that this movie just forgot about.
The videos are getting longer, movies seem to be just filled with even more sins as time moves on, so who knows what it'll be like this time next year, but I am starting to feel like eventually we're just gonna watching the full movies on here MS3k style with the sin counter just being the runtime clock, and I'm okay with that.
@@thiccolascage8180 skadi is the huntress in norse mythology, jötnar is an alternative way to spell jötunn which essentially means giant. Skadi is a jötunn, but jötunn does not mean god/ess of hunting.
The opening for this film got me prepared for a movie I was interested in seeing before the next part completely told me that wasn't going to be the case. Taika had a balance, for excessive as it could come off, of comedy and story that came together pretty decently in "Thor: Ragnarok" compared to this film, which is a straight up farce, there is just no other way to put it. I hope he does something smaller budget and reminds us he can still find some genuine feeling without laughing over it again. Also one last thing, that Thanos Glove for the ice cream shop particularly annoys me because it could have been such an easy fix by making it look like Tony's Glove, which he would have gotten a laugh at I'm sure, but using Thanos's just shows they were thinking what would have been amusing to us in the real world, that has all the stupidity of things like Joker Costumes or Loki Costumes unironically being used in comics. And a big sin for this movie from me is trying to convince me Thor and Jane had anything going in these movies that was worth trying to pretend it was worthwhile when she got sidelined in the second movie, broken up OFF-SCREEN in Ragnarok and couldn't even be bothered to cameo in "Endgame" that they just reporposed deleted scene footage from Dark World! Also, why does Jane get to go to Valhalla when she technically died of her illness at that point and not "in battle" when Sif didn't despite having way more battle experience even if she didn't die in combat? TL;DR Movie should have kept to opening, Thanos Glove Ice Cream shop is stupid, as is any use of Villain logos or such by the civilian population in comics in general and Thor and Jane as a romance SUCKS. Full stop.
I agree about the glove, because its inclusion here lessens the impact of how we the audience are supposed to feel about the snap, which is supposed to be a somber and melancholy moment in the MCU. All the movies of late seem to be making a joke out of it now.
@@LazzyVamples that’s the way i viewed it- she did die in battle but not one like thor was fighting in. as someone who’s lost a few family members to cancer, it was very touching to me

Should have added 100 sins for an unfinished movie. Numerous incomplete CGI scenes and Watiti even said they weren’t able to get the scenes finished he really wanted in the movie, but Disney told him he couldn’t have anymore time to make the movie and was forced to throw it together.
I mean, he should've known that going in, though. The difference between Marvel and DC is that when Marvel releases a six-year production schedule way before they should, they do their best to stick to it. For better or for worse. Makes me pine for when Iron Man first came out, and the end credits had us all excited for how they were going to make the Avengers movie happen. Now they just give us the paint-by-numbers before half the projects are even scripted. Because that leads to fan theory videos, which leads to engagement, which leads to viewers. I just wish they had more mystique about it. I haven't bothered seeing a Marvel movie in theaters since this one. But if they were to suddenly release a Sleepwalker movie or something with no fanfare whatsoever, I'd see that bitch in a heartbeat.
The one thing about this film that subverted my expectations was that I expected Thor and Jane to catch a lot up on what Thor was doing since Thor: Ragnarok and Infinity War because Thor clearly went through quite a lot after losing his father, his right eye and his brother (again) and even Asgard got destroyed and I think they obviously didn't address it because the other characters had bigger problems dealing with Gorr the God Butcher kidnapping these children. But what I think was also missing was that Jane could've had an introduction with Valkyrie and Korg shortly after reuniting with Thor but again, there was no time for that. But for some reason, there was also moment where Thor was fighting off Gorr's minions and Valkyrie acted like she had seen Jane before when she said to Thor "oh you're gonna like that guy" and even later on where she already knows Jane has cancer. May be its just me but I didn't know why that came in but I don't think these two would've known each other before.
The best part about Thor: Love & Thunder was when Taika Waititi burned critics who were begging him to make a director's cut and he was like "director's cuts suck!".
Surprised you didn’t give a sin for Thor telling the kids just because they are asgardian they will get into Valhalla. When moments before in the movie, he just told someone they had to die in battle to do so. 😂
I think Janes death got her into Valhalla because she died in her battle against cancer. Which is a great admirable nod to those who are afflicted with cancer of any type. -1 sin
@El Centinela Atómico no, obviously this isn't accurate to actual norse mythology. but neither is anything else in marvel, so who gives a shit? they took creative liberties. whatever
@El Centinela Atómico by using up her body's reserves using Mjolnir, she sacrificed her own battle, her own life, to the cancer in order to save Asgardian lives using Asgardian power.
Yes, technically the cancer killed Jane, but it was mentioned earlier in the movie that every time she turns into Thor it’s killing her faster. Thus, she gave her life to go into battle one last time.
@@queenofsloth9637 sure? i guess? but then, who doesn't "die in battle", according to that logic? literally every kind of death imaginable is a "lost battle" of sorts.
For all the swing-and-miss comedy in this film, I actually didn't mind the cancer jokes that much. Jane often felt like she was trying to use humour to avoid facing her mortality, while Thor's response on finding out felt the overcompensation of someone who genuinely feels powerless in the face of such news. Maybe not the best jokes in the world, but to me they didn't feel too out of place in the situation. Besides, nothing can match the tonal whiplash of Ragnorok's *Surtur destroying Asgard in a poignant, bittersweet moment of - OH LOL THE HULK'S PUNCHING HIM IN THE FACE* moment.
9:05 you forgot a sin where children are sleeping happy and sound in their beds while their elders are dying fighting nightmarish shadow monsters outside, in all that slaughter, noise and destruction.
I actually don't mind Love and Thunder, but holy shit it could've been a masterpiece in the right hands. Top notch cast with Christian freakin' Bale as the villain, a Thor with years of trauma and potential wisdom to work with, a bunch of cool locations and visuals, a deeply emotional and mature storyline with Jane's cancer, interesting ventures into the various mythologies. Instead we got 2 hours of complete tonal dissonance, the CGI department proving how underpaid and overworked they are (Taika himself shitting all over their work doesn't help), screaming goats every 17 minutes, a strangely dumbed down Thor, and a huge waste of pretty much every actor in the cast, save for that one amazing scene in the Dark Dimension where Gorr messes with them.
There's a ton of cut scenes you can look up. All of them improve the movie. All of the "best scenes" that could've been in the movie got cut... Disappointing... There was an amazing cut scene between thor and Zeus in omnipotence that is more emotional and meaningful and deep than any marvel movie made in the last 2 years
6:09 although, there was a deleted scene that was supposed to show how the hammer got fixed and jane's transformation into the mighty thor, but was ultimately cut for reasons that i dont know. So you'll have to do some research for this one. There is however, some footage of the cut scene, and you can look it up on youtube if you want.
I heard somewhere that Taika filmed a lot of comedy stuff and a lot of actually good stuff, and when deciding what to chuck to get it down to the desired timeframe, he opted to keep as much of the "comedy" as possible, and chuck everything else barring what was absolutely necessary for the plot.
@@JakkFrost1For example, an interview with Bale reveals that he worked with Peter Dinklage and Jeff Goldblum. This means that there were deleted scenes of Gorr the GOD BUTCHER actually BUTCHERING GODS, but that was cut

There are actually 2 Mojlnirs out there. In Endgame Thor summoned the hammer from the past. That's the one Captain America calls. This is the one Hela shattered. So he was fine with Cap summoning Mojlnir but upset because this Mojlnir is doing what he asked by trying to help Jane? Sin.
Pretty sure its campy on purpose. The whole movie is stylised like comics and comedy movies, a lot of it is frankly satirical. Especially notable when looking at the goats (or thinking about the goats), skies and backgrounds or even how Thor's lighting is purposefully stylised to be unnaturally blue and clear (compared to the "realistic" and grittier lighting and general colouring in the Avengers or Dark World). It's meant to be a bit silly and overboard, though it's a matter of taste if you like that in a film.
@@iwillcontactattorneygenera1078 It's definitely campy on purpose. It just doesn't work. Waika went nuts and nobody at Marvel reined him in, since Thor: Ragnarok had been so well received. I think he still has good work to do, but this one was just a shitshow in so many ways.

Two trains of thought about Jane's death: one, she died as a direct result of the battle with Gorr, it just took a little longer. Two, she died from her extremely painful battle with cancer. Not to mention she literally sacrificed her life, using up her body's reserves, in order to fight the battle against Gorr, saving Asgardians while wielding Asgardian power. To be fair with the sin with Jane entering Valhalla… she technically lost her “battle” with cancer, and it was excruciatingly painful for her throughout the entire process. At least that’s how I took it
Edit: I’ll just make this edit and then I’m going to leave it be.

I want to thank you for this video, i have yet to watch this movie in its entirety and now that i know what happens. I never have to.
I still can't believe that she didn't use "Hammer Time!" as a catch phrase!
Lewis Hamilton would've dragged portperson to the court.
@@CaptainSlow2469 No MC Hammer would.

I tried watching this movie 3 times and could never finish it. Thank you for finally making it so I know what happened. lol

I'd been debating whether to watch, but thanks to you and CinemaSins I now have my answer😆 By the way, why'd you never finish watching it?
@@DangerousParentdon't rely on cinemasins to tell you if you should watch or not watch a movie, most of the time they are clueless and mainly for comedy, but this movie wasn't all that good
@@torylover1569 I don't "Rely on CinemaSins" for "my" opinion(s) of anything, I like CinemaSins for, like you said, the comedy, especially when he says "SKIP"🤣 I do however use opinions of those like yourself to see if the DVD is worth buying, otherwise I probably won't see it: not buying Love and Thunder💸💸
@@torylover1569 Oh I'll rely on Cinema Sins capeshit videos as a substitute for watching capeshit.
It's really the only part of the movie that made any kind of sense.
Seems pretty fair. Died as a direct result of battle, using Asgardian power, in a way that might have been excruciating, especially since she wasn't even an Asgardian in the first place.
i'll buy it
If Deadpool 2 taught me anything, when two characters from different worlds try to make a baby, one gets killed off before you have any chance to figure out how procreation between the two will work.

I think the real answer is poor writing.
I love the pettiness of your Heracles correction.
I'd love to see the ACTUAL series of events in this movie because right now I view this movie as an exaggerated story being told by Korg.
Exaggerations include, storm breaker being jealous, Thor killing Zues, the Jane and Thor love story (which doesn't really fit the time line), and all the over the top corniness
I like to describe Love and Thunder as "a terrible movie well executed."
Pretty accurate

Lmao that's 100% on point
i beg to differ. I think its a terrible movie badly executed
Perfectly terrible 👌

About the Jane getting the hammer thing, it was actually filmed and BTS footage proved it but Taika cut it because screaming goats are funny right?

Laughing at this is posting a major L for yourself
Have you seen Malig-Thor-ant🤣🤣🤣
That was funny to you? Wow you must laugh at everything
I cannot express the level of stress I felt at 5:19 and the over looking of or insinuation that 'Infinity cones' is not a pun... a sin for yourself good sir.
To be fair, I understand this movie has some inconsistent mood problems. That said, had they ditched the humor I'd have been a puddle of tears by the end. I have a similar kind of cancer as Jane, stage 4. My breast cancer isn't as aggressive as hers, but metastatic cancer is metastatic cancer, no cure. It made this movie important to me and to others with this disease. It's good to see someone like Natalie Portman representing. So I'm more grateful for this movie than I have words to say. For the same reason, I'm happy for this video. Thank you, #CinemaSins! #StageIVNeedsMore! Any attention that contributes to more research is a good thing in my book!
Nothing can be said in a UA-cam comment that will directly help you, but I pray that it somehow changes in your favor, you become healthier, and live a full life regardless of when it ends
@@user-gn5bu7tx1b Aww, thank you!
really really sorry to hear that. Wishing you the best. My mom had breast cancer as well 🖤
The relentless slapstick and humorous tones of the movie are necesary, as I've told people before who seem to think it's overly silly, the movie is entirely a tragedy. It needs those moments. And I am glad to see that it has helped at least one person find strength. hoping for the best.
Could you tell us how you're doing now :(
I am so glad that you called out the Heracles vs Hercules thing. I called that out in the theater, but then I am a mythology geek. Still I am very glad you sinned this!
Also Heracles kicks Hercule's ass. Heracle is the badass but also broken rage monster and Hercules is a boy scout with some super strength. It's like pitting Thor from this movie against Kratos from God of War Ragnarok. One of them is a literal fucking child and the other is badass god of power.
I personally am okay with the movie in general but what truly blows me in this movie is how Thor seemingly "killed" Zeus in front of damn near every God in the Marvel universe and not one did a Goddamn thing. Zeus' family members (Artemis & Ares) were in the room with them and they didn't do shit.....
@@ytyoungrichnhigh
They probably knew he wasn't dead.
Lmao I read your first sentence and thought to myself, ‘what is this guy a mythology geek or something??’ And then had a great laugh at your second sentence lol 👍🏽
There actually was a sccene where we see Jane pick up Mjolnir for the first time and becoming Mighty Thor but it actually got deleted bc they thought it would be better to have her reveal in the battle
"Hey what could we put into this Thor movie that would be great fun?"
"How about cancer?"
"You did it again, you son of a gun. That's why you're the best!"
Well it doesn’t fit the mood of the movie but Jane Foster having cancer has been a storyline a decade ago.
Can't wait for this to get resinned in 10 years
One thing that felt like a missed opportunity was Zeus. Imagine the a storyline where it’s specifically Thor and Zeus teaming up. That would’ve been badass. As long as Zeus was different of course. Like if he was more like the DCEU Zeus.
There's a deleted or rather alternate scene where Zeus, who's not an asshole, acts kinda father-like to Thor, gives him advice and lends him the thunder
So, whenever there is a major threat to earth, Thor can just wish the power of Thor on…well everybody? Kinda wonder if they thought that through…
I guess that skill like many other characters “ultimates” are on cooldown until its convenient for the plot.
When Thor love and thunder came out of theaters, my friends and I did a mini cinema sins! We wrote sins down and said them out loud after the movie! 😂😂😂 Best night of my life!! @CinemaSins
What a great idea!
Honestly wish there was a scene where Thor used Mjolnir again somewhere (call the axe moment or going to fight Gorr alone) and Stormbreaker eventually forgives him for it.
Was really expecting a bonus round for the goat screams
When Jane showed up in Valhalla, I just kept hoping that she was going to find Sif's arm. THAT would have been funny! 😄
HowItShouldHaveEnded got you covered on sif's arm
given that asgard was destroyed there shouldnt be a vallhalla anymore
@@Guardian582 i'm not too well-read on my norse mythology, but i'm pretty sure that valhalla is where the gods/warriors go when they die, it being a separate space in mythology-
