  • On August 24th and 25th 2019, Tweetsie Railroad hosted their Heritage Weekend event that brought many fans of their historical narrow gauge steam locomotives to the property. I went to Tweetsie on the 25th because it was the day of the doubleheader, where both locomotives would couple up and pull train rides for a few hours before detaching and pulling separate trains in the afternoon. Number 12 would pull Tweetsie’s first ever mixed freight consist, including a narrow gauge flatcar repainted for the ET&WNC railroad and their #5 Railfan coach.

Thank you so much for posting. I am a train driver in the UK and visited Tweetsie Railroad with my family in 2010. What an incredible place, and what friendly staff. Loved every minute of the whole visit.

Well that’s good! I absolutely love Tweetsie too, I’ve went every single year since I was 3. I intent to keep that streak because things are always changing at Tweetsie!

    32:43 There he goes vibing.
36:14 Man how did he get so good at vibing?
36:53 Man alive is he good at the art of vibing.
And on a more serious note, I'm a friend of Trainman 8115. He's how I found out about your channel. Gotta say, you got some nice content.

Ok in 2018 why did 190 have her boiler painted silver anyway I really like it

They were celebrating 190’s 75th birthday so they brought back part of her original paint scheme

@@railfanningwithtydan From what I’ve heard, the silver smokebox and other cosmetic changes for Heritage Weekend 2018 was to bring it back, albeit temporarily, to its 60’s appearance that it had when it first started work at the park with the major detail missing being the diamond stack.

190 had a strange whistle installed on it that day. Was there a particular reason for it? I didn’t like it.

190 had her original White Pass & Yukon 5-chime whistle on for the 2019 heritage weekend. I think Tweetsie wanted that weekend to have both locomotives with their original whistles. I personally like it but it is very different to other whistles 190 has worn so I understand.

@@railfanningwithtydan Thanks for the explanation. For a heritage day that makes sense. I still like her deeper toned whistle she wears most of the time the best. I guess it’s just what I’m use to hearing from 190.

@@railfanningwithtydan My guess is that the plan at first was to have it on the engine for the 2018 Heritage Weekend, but 12 developed whatever fault it had at the time, so they did something else, and went with the 2019 Heritage Weekend as their way of truly paying homage to 190's 75th/76th year of existence. Mind you, this is all speculation on my part, so take it with as much salt as you like.
