Sorry I never responded. Basically I addressed it because I've had many questions from new players asking if they should start over with hell mode because they thought the pact was only for hell mode
I just started the game and I'm bummed you said Hades was the last boss when talking about collecting blood. Probably could have reworded it better to avoid the spoils. Most beginners aren't getting to the end for awhile anyways.
A big tip to really get good at the game is: Play with the pierced butterfly on! It really makes you value every hit in every room and every projectile. you start to really focus every time and every room. Which is tbh the best way to play ( trying to go for no hit runs every time kinda makes you better you know :P ) And just seeing it go above 30% is just so much fun and the damage is so good aswell! A bit more rng heavy because you can't influence it with other keepsakes. But in return you really learn to play the game perfectly. I played without it on my first character slot. 30 runs around 10 wins, low heat. Made a second character because i wasted blood on aspects i didn't like. And decided I really wanted to learn the game by going pierced butterfly. I have 31 runs done, 17 wins. And steadely going higher on heat without any problems thus far. On a 9 winstreak atm. PS: I also just massivly enjoy pierced butterfly gameplay. Feels so freacking rewarding getting that 30+% damage
I'm really pleasantly surprised by how far this game has come. I remember playing way back when Styx didn't exist and recently came back. MY GOD have they expanded a lot. Great job helping all the new guys out man. Most of us know this already but it's so so important to know what you're going for in those early runs and this will help a lot of people I hope. Keep doing you man ^^
I have to disagree about the god mode. Normally I play games on hard or even the highest diff possible, but this game is soooooo grindy that I would honestly stop playing without it. I disabled it after a while, but at the start it makes you progress further and get more rewards, meet more characters etc.
BRO! Best explanation ever. Thank you for taking the time to put it together and you delivery is perfect. So entertaining and informative. I love taking my own notes to this too for my run! You earned a subscribe for being AWESOME!
Just purchased the game. Even though I've only been playing for 4 hours, it's safe to say it's a favorite of mine of all time now. I hope to learn a lot from you, cheers bud.
I’m a complete noob at games but I knew that Hades was a game that i could practice my skills on, it took me around 50 attempts just to defeat Meg the first time. But finally mastering Meg’s patterns actually taught me a lot that I needed to know about other bosses especially how to dodge. It only took me two attempts to defeat the Bone Hydra and just once to defeat Theseus and Minos.
If in a run you are so powerful you can afford to buy the expensive item in the satyr zone do it even if it’s a diamond i think they give you the diamond to keep you from buying titan blood i’m not sure if rng though it worked for me
Hi. I wish to personally thank you for helping me out with the game. Your insights and tips helped me tremendously in defeating Hades... now, i know exactly what to build, and what boons to pick, so i can successfully finish every run, and therefore, enjoy the full narrative behind Zag and his Divine family. It’s a really phenomenal game! Again, thanks!
I really appreciate this video. I started playing this past weekend and am having a blast with the game, but some aspects are not clearly explained through game play alone.
I really have to agree with Kurt here. As phenominal as the game is, there's just SO little explanation on what does what and how to actually do it. I was exactly 24 runs in before I realized I could switch my talents in the Mirror. I had no idea how to unlock the newer weapons until I just basically guessed, and I still have no idea how or where the fuck aspects come into play and how I get there. There's even pickups I STILL don't know about...like the bag with the Skull on it when I clear a room...the hell does it do?
This is an old video, but God Mode is almost certainly an accessibility feature, not simply a way to make it easier. Some gamers don't have the physical capability to play the game at 100%, and that mode would allow them to eventually still progress and continue exploring the story and have fun. To say it's just for impatience or people lacking skill, is a bit insensitve.
My Beginner Tip: The first thing you do after loading up the game; go into the controller settings and swap the Attack and Dash buttons. Two button dash combos become much easier flick motion with dash mapped to the Xbox "X" (Playstation "square") button. It takes forever to unlearn if you've already played for a while.
For the first 27 hours i played this game I did play with god mode enabled. After watching your video I decided to finally take that setting off, and I made it all the way to hades :3 although I died about 3 minutes in to the fight I am happy with myself, and maybe I dont need to rely on that setting anymore.
Great video, from personal experience though, I disagree with your take on God mode, I think coming from a rougelike/bullet-hell noob, God Mode allowed me to learn boss attack patterns since I kept dying to hades too fast to glean anything from that experience early on.
About people wanting to beat the game to see the story, I kind of understand it. It’s a Supergiant game. They’ve told some of the best stories in video games and Hades is no different. Every one of their games have been absolute bangers narratively. I’ve played a lot of roguelikes/lites and the story is usually the least interesting thing about it. It’s generally a means to an end to contextualize the mechanics. I skip over most text in them by instinct even if it’s the first time I’m seeing it. Roguelikes are my favorite genre by far, and I’ve got no shortage of them to play, but the reason I prioritized playing this game over others was because I was curious to see how a developer who usually focuses heavily on story would take on a genre like this. It also probably helps that I’m half Greek and have always had an interest in Greek mythology. God of War and Assassin’s Creed never grabbed my attention because they’re so boring to actually play that I may as well just read a book but this game keeps it’s story just enough in the background and is broken up between fairly lengthy runs in a way that actually makes me look forward to seeking it out and seeing what new things are going to happen. I hope more medium-sized developers take some notes from this game. It has a level of polish that’s usually missing from most roguelikes.
My best runs are when I use the critical hit sword with any critical hit boons from Artemis and any reflect boons from Athena. If I see Divine Dash you better believe I'm getting it. By the time I get to Elysium I'm doing almost exclusively critical hits and reflect all damage so long as I'm moving or hitting. I also like the hammer upgrade that lets you regenerate 2 hp per hit.
@@JawlessPaul So now that I've played more, I'll never use Cerberus keepsake again lol... The Skelly one is probably my favorite now. Having the extra death defiance is incredibly powerful.
just wanted to mention the rod of fishing does not show up in the contractor right away. I forget what makes it show up but you definitely need to buy some work orders the old fashion way- some combination of room rewords and prophecies
How does God Mode hurt you and provide a hurtle? You can switch it in and off as you like. How are you not learning the game, just by having 20% damage resistance on? There is shit in this game that you randomly get that heals you after each attack. Hell there are permeant abilities that let you auto dodge, that can be stacked. There is So much is randomness that makes the game both harder and easier. How is one more bonus that detrimental to your experience?
Haha, I don't know man. I guess it's a bit like training wheels? You can learn to bike with them, and struggle to take them off, or you can just learn on a balance bike, figure out the mechanics of riding, and start riding a bike much faster. That's just my opinion, so take it as such! I probably threw too much shade in this video :)

Hey thankyou for the video! Since i have already started the game around 12 hours now, and i had no idea about Hell mode, is it possible to unlock all the bloods even in normal mode? Thankyou :)
You have not explain how you unlock weapons or the different aspects, especially for a guide for new players, that should be mentioned. You are obviously very experienced in this game.
Thanks! Yeah, you need to spend the keys to unlock the weapons, and then you will have the ability to unlock aspects. Whatever button you use to select a weapon, push it again and it will open up the weapon aspect menu.
Idk, I played the game for 15 minutes and things like unlocking weapons doesn't get any more self-explanatory. See where the weapons are? See that giant god damn key symbol with a number in front of it? I dont think this guy should be pestered for not treating you like a moron. If he glosses over the most basic of information that toddlers should be able to gather by themselves, I don't see that as bad.
I'm sorry it's not what you expected! I'd still give it a try though! Roguelikes are tough, but once you figure out the mechanics they are super enjoyable and very replayable.
@@JawlessPaul I played more today and it's not going well. I've got to the Elysium stage because I got some really good upgrades that made the Hydra boss super easy, but the runs I've had after that have been really bad. If he glosses over the most basic of information that toddlers should be able to gather by themselves, I don't see that as bad.
Do not get Athena’s Death Defiance Boon if you haven’t died it doesn’t count
Great point! Makes me miss the days when you could stack up death defiances
Really wish I saw this before I gave my nectar to hades 😂
Haha! Sorry!
it's fine, once you get the fishing rod you won't care much about the nectar
for a "beginner" video you spoil a lot of stuff.. thanks... now i know i fight hades ....
you spoil everything.. jesus. weapon aspects , etc. how the hell is this "beginner" ?
Sorry for the spoilers dagadbm.
Did you not think you were gonna fight Hades?
I have a major spoiler for those that wish to enjoy this game please don't read more after this .
That's a good thing for new players to go for!
JawlessPaul is such a cutie 😍
😄
your voice is suitable as a voice actor btw 😂
Very kind of you to say!! I've always wanted to do voice acting!
I'm glad I clicked on this video because this guy is so handsome
Aw shucks! Thanks Matheus!
Bpm is punishing. Hades is okay
lol, not sure what you mean by Bpm?
I wish I had watched this before buying. This is not the type of game I thought it was
I'm sorry it's not what you expected!
I'm just not liking the RNG element to this and I feel like my success is too strongly tied to which upgrades I'm presented with.
It's definitely an rng based game as are other roguelites. Things get better as you find keepsakes. They can help you "craft" your runs.
hey don't kink shame just because i like playing on god mode, having to try to beat meg every time gets exhausting at my skill level.
It's all good! You do you!
Is this guy 8ft?
Haha, just a short ceiling. Like 6 foot 3 inches to the drop ceiling
Starts off the video telling us this isn’t a guide for experienced players. Almost Immediately shoots off into talking about hell mode. Lmao, not very helpful at all but this did make me laugh. Cheers
probably the worst “beginner” video i’ve ever seen. HEAVY SPOILERS WARNING.
Same boat
Thanks for the feedback. Thumbnail and title changed.
lol this opinion on god mode is basic as hell but okay
This video: "For new players". Also this video: LOTS of spoilers (aka "some spoilers") and WAY too much time on Hell Mode. Move along, there are MUCH better videos to watch for an intro to Hades.
Sorry it wasn't to your liking.
You're cute!
Very kind of you to say!
Hades is the most overrated game in history. Tedious repetitive garbage.
Cool cool
I dunno I still feel pretty bad at the game XD. Im at like 56 or 58 attempts and I still havent dropped Hades yet :(
