I think this package really give some value to collectors both new and old. It is exactly the reason why the retro line was created and why it should be continued. Putting out figures that look virtually identical and most ways to the originals, yet at a small fraction of the price, is excellent. And any true collector will be able to identify the retro versus the original without much trouble. The only concern is always with the accessories, because some of them are so close to the original stuff, and have no markings to identify them as retro. Mine has shipped but I haven't received it yet, looking forward to seeing it soon in my mailbox.
I preordered mine from Disney last July and was given an estimated delivery of early November. Two days ago the said “OOPS, we can’t fill it and we are canceling your order. It was to be a Christmas present. Bottom line is I will never order anything from them again!
I do like the Retro Collection. However, my biggest gripes are the price and poor availability in UK stores. These figures should really be mass-produced and sold for no more than £5.99 each to enable both collectors and even kids to experience Star Wars collecting without breaking the bank. I'd gladly buy them all again then!

Good video and I dig your little turntable set up. I took Mon Mothma out and sold the rest as I didn't need them. I loved the fact that Yak Face was part of the box set because as you said, there's no resson for a figure being sold for crazy money. Plus it upset the hardcore repro cops which is always a good thing 😊

Always nice to see 'new' figures compared to their originals. Good that the cardstock of the packaging has improved. If they would only remove the fake weathering things might even look better. I loikethat Mon Mothma with the Lea Blaster. Quality of the figures looks ok, sculpting is indd a bit softer than the originals. How do the joints move compared to the originals?
I have always liked Wicket, wonder why the most prominent ewok was not on the original offering. Didn't have him as a kid in 1983. Had to wait until I was an older 16 year old that could drive myself to antique stores and garage sales.

I bought an ROTJ Luke to compare him to my original figure and noticed the same things; softer sculpt details and slightly smaller size. The former can probably be attributed to inherent drawbacks with the 3D scanning process, while the latter could probably have been solved by making the new molds slightly larger to compensate for injection molding shrink.
I have tried to collect some of the GI Joe Classifieds based on the 82-84 figures but have given up because I don't want to pay a subscription to Hasbro Pulse or pay a scalper two or three times its value. I might have even picked up some of the Star Wars Retro figures if they were in stores locally but shelves here on the far east coast of Canada are usually pretty bare. It was absolutely great watching the fun you had opening up and discussing your figures but I am unfortunately starting to see it as a hobby for the "rich" (in general, not aimed at you). For a lot of people it seems like their fun of collecting has morphed into the fear of missing out. I really hope that Hasbro and other toy/collectable companies start taking all fans into consideration or else a lot of fans like myself who can't walk into a store and buy what they want are just going to give up being customers/hobbiests entirely because it is just not fun anymore. I have basically quit collecting based on the reasons you stated. It started becoming a "fomo" thing for me, so I'm selling off my collection because the prices of the Vintage Collection are beyond ridiculous, 18.00 for a 3.75 figure is insane. Although I did pick up this set, I'm only buying what I really want, which isn't much.
I haven't looked into this in recent weeks, but the last time I checked, even the Retro Yak Face was going for scalper prices online. I hope Hasbro will have the sense to release these on shelves individually at some point, but I won't hold my breath.
Finally i can enjoy a classic yak face witouth fear touch something like a "high cost jewelry". this can make a low price of original. but the stan Solo looks too a great and cheap option to have these figure.
I've got one original made 1984 in 170,00€ past year loose complete and have the RETRO got some weeks ago. Both are great! I have never had it in the 80's

I finally figured out what is bothering me about Mothma. She should not be included into this set because she is not created like the others by original designer Jim Swearingen. She must be suffering from imposter syndrome! Also on your observation regarding Gam Guards eyes. Look at the Macao variant. It looks like the reference due to those eyes

Sadly hasbro doing figures from the modern movies and tv show is down to MUCASfilm...they tell hasbro what to do and being a licensee hasbro have to do it.
I have all the RETRO figures so far. I don't doubt that the rest will be produced (I suspect the OT RETRO sets will be completed in time to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the original film). It doesn't make sense - this far into the lines - for the remainder not to be produced. I just hope that the Max Rebo band will also be part of the 1978 - 83 RETRO COLLECTION. Very happy Yak Face was included in this set - too bad for the vintage toy elitist collectors out there. 🤣 I don't own an original Yak, only the SLC / STAN SOLO repro - which is superior to the Hasbro RETRO release. I don't do MOC. I like to open my figures and collect them loose, but will make an exception for Yak Face. The card is mint, and the thicker (unpunched) stock is most welcome - he does look very nice carded - even with the rubbish faux weathering and oversized sticker.

$3,000 for a Yak Face? Carded or loose? Only an original 1985 mint-on-card Yak Face would go for something like $3,000. A loose Yak Face w/ accessory in great condition would certainly not go for $3,000 - it would go for about $500-$800. I got my Yak Face figure w/accessory for $450, which was lucky. I have to ask - how could anyone be scammed by any of these repro-figures when they are clearly marked (as are the originals)? Also - why does anyone think that the value of original Star Wars figures (such as Yak Face) would be affected by any of these Hasbro or Stan Solo reproductions? Most of the time, people seek out these figures because they want the original, not some repro. I have never seen the value of any figure go down due to the existence of a repro, no matter how good it is.

These are not “repro” figures. They are called Retro figures. It says on the package. As far as Yakface is concerned, he’s pretty good. Many people do not want the Stan Solo version but since these Hasbro versions are stamped Lucasfilm that makes them official. So you can gate keep all you want but it is not gonna change the fact that plenty of collectors will happily accept these as an original licensed Yakface and who are we to say otherwise I think these are great. I can’t wait for them to piss off even this more elitists and release a blue snaggletooth. 😂

A box blade razor, Q-tip, and lighter fluid with get those god awful stickers off with ease.
Just take your time and don't get in a rush.
I've removed the stickers before, but as I don't keep these figures carded, it doesn't matter to me any more.

Yes, it appears that the Retro Collection ERG has a thicker staff when compared to the Kenner version while Ackbar's staff is the opposite.
