Oh yeah, Linlin 100% ate Mother Carmel. That's how it goes when a superpowered toddler has zero impulse control. It's even scarier when you realize Linlin has Mother Carmel's devil fruit ability afterwards.
@@godiloveminininjas4278 More like he used his darness fruit to pull in the power but since the power was already leaving whitebeard because he died, instead of pulling whitebeard's body along with the powers (as he did with ace) he pulled ONLY the "freed" power BEFORE it went into a new fruit...
When he realize ans say "what the hell am I doing.." god i feel for sanji.. i can not do anything bit cry under the rain when he see himself ¿betrailed? For pudding.. trying to light up his smoke under the rain.. OMG i Stiller cry
Luffy isnt book smart, but hes one of the most emotionally intelligent characters when it comes to understanding his crew..plenty of examples throughout the series.
So when Luffy says, “Without you I can’t become king of the pirates.” That made me cry that line was the deep cut of the arc and it still gives me goosebumps
I strongly disagree about Luffy not having the brain power to read between the lines, he KNOWS how Sanji really feels, and wants him to admit it to himself Alsooo fairly certain Big Mom's hunger pangs are an involuntary/ uncontrollable thing, not just her being an immature brat, which she also is
Luffy is the most intuitively emotionally intelligent person in the whole crew. And he always waits for someone to ask for help otherwise he'd be taking control of their fate.
I don't think Luffy reads between the lines intentionally as much as he intuitively sees a person's true intentions and feelings regardless of what they're projecting to him. It's not a conscious thing for him, he just senses it automatically.
3:25 many of us think it's plot convenience. Personally, I also think that Pudding is a chaotic neutral/evil that loves to see betrayal in her victim's face. After all she also told Luffy and Nami while looking at them both at the same time to see their reactions. 14:15 when I joked about the "more sunglasses" in the livestream I was actually thinking about Naruto, but I guess Oda's joke in the SBS has also been put in my brain subconsciously LOL 19:30 I think Luffy can intuitively sense that Sanji wants to return to the strawhats but Luffy can't help Sanji because you can't help someone who doesn't want help. Luffy respects everyone's personal fights and won't disturb the fights by "helping out" because sometimes people don't want a knight in shiny armor with a hero complex. Only by asking Luffy for help, Luffy knows 100% it's okay to help out as a friend. 48:00 So... You didn't think that... Big Mom could've eaten them...? Nvm, you said it minutes later 1:03:00 I like this theory! 1:06:25 in the livestream with Merphy and Amber, you asked if anything tragic will happen again, and Amber answered positively, she most probably meant this scene Thank you for the review!
To be fair, the more I think about it, the more I would want to dramatically reveal something to an enemy and then erase their memory haha. And I would have loved to have seen Zoro in the seducing woods at some point just to test that theory - maybe I will send that question to Oda and see if it makes the SBS corner, though I'm unsure how to do that haha
@@GavinReadsItAll I believe the USA branch of shonen jump/viz or whatever has a PO box that's included in some volumes, maybe at the back? and it's my understanding they translate and send the questions to Shueisha in japan and then questions are picked out of however many are received. But then again I don't know of anyone who's sent in a question and/or had it answered so I could be wrong on that. I just definitely remember somewhere them saying you can send it to an american address
In Ch. 854 Pudding explains that Reiju was sniffing around so she took care of her and also tested if their weapons would work on their hardened skins. Pudding gloating to her was just her messed up personality, though.
@@kingambrose9919maddy the old artist from the one piece podcast send a postcard once with a question in a drawing she did... The question didn't get answered but the drawing got put in ussop art gallery xD
49:16 Big Mom did eat them. The biggest clue is her having Mother Carmel's devil fruit. It's quite twisted to be honest. I think that's what I love about Oda's writing skills. He can navigate some really dark and twisted avenues despite the limitations of the medium (Shonen, which is targeted at a young audience). He leaves enough clues for you to figure it out without being blatant about it. I feel that's a really underrated aspect of One Piece.
49:56 To answer that question, yes Linlin 100% ate them. In the previous, chapter 867, in the panel when Linlin screams "Yummy♥️♥️!!" You see "Waaaah!" and "Aaaaaah…."😨. When Linlin is done eating, you see everything left in piece with bite marks. Mother Carmel’s clothing ripped and left on the ground indicates that. This is further indicated with the giant running away horrified and the chef that meets Linlin is both amused and cautious of her.
Hey Gav, Pedro is dead. It’s one of the few not fake out deaths in one piece. Fake out deaths are one of the rare complaints I have with Oda’s writing forsure. It’s hard to know when to properly mourn a character. Also, something I like to keep in mind is that Luffy’s intentions for going to whole cake was to get Sanji “stealthily” and not necessarily defeat Big Mom. If his goal was to defeat her, he would have brought the whole Strawhat crew.
I'm glad you picked up on Big Mom eating everyone! I thought it was too dark that Oda wouldn't do that so I just assumed that they all left her instead, but talking to my anime-only friend, she said that it did happen and it was much clearer in the anime that Big Mom ate them all. I found it a little hard to pick up on it in the manga but I'm happy you didn't feel that way!
Oda did it in the most metaphorical way cause the manga is a shonen. It is that he can't talk about some topics, it is that he needs to show in a way acceptable for Japanese children. Here comes laws, traditions, culture. Etc. It is hard.
I think that Pudding revealing her plan is definitely at least a little bit for plot convenience, yeah. Though I dunno, if I had the ability to erase peoples' memories, maybe I would also be tempted to make dramatic reveals to them just to see their reaction. Hard to say
It's part plot convenience, yes, but as shown later with her discussion with Big Mom (16:50), Puddig wanted to test if their weapons would be effective against Germa's hardened skin. She didn't just randomly bully Reiju for no reason.
You could certainly call it plot convenience and it is to a certain extent but she is consistently characterized as liking to gloat as she also drops her mask for Luffy when he's held captive. It works with her established personality and trauma. She's built up two distinct personalities because of her mother's emotional abuse seeing one as a mask for her 'true self', I'd say in reality her true self is in between but that's a separate issue. The point is, she hides her eye and represses her 'true self' almost all the time so she relishes the opportunity to pull off the mask and soak in the reactions of others.
@@WatanukiProductions Actually, checking it again, in Ch. 854 Pudding openly explains that Reiju was sniffing around so she took care of her and also tested if their weapons would work on their hardned skins. I'm not denying her personality, but she didn't randomly shoot Reiju just to gloat. She shoot her for a reason and then gloated.
If I had Pudding's ability of cutting out other's memories I'd go around using it CONSTANTLY imagine just being able to tell the wildest truths and lies to people without consequence just to see their reaction. I'd totally go around tricking people into thinking I'm nice and then rip the rug out from under them lmao. But yeah, just looking at it from a "does this make sense" point of view, it doesn't make much sense other than plot for Pudding to reveal her identity at that point.
15:15 I get the confusion! He made it for Pudding, but after what he heard he couldn't just barge in and give it to her. And when he actually looked inside the basket he realized that he (without thinking about it) made the favourite dish of each Straw Hat! 22:20 Even though there weren't any ships close by in an earlier chapter we actually saw the Sun Pirates (under water) mentioning someone on the shore hinting at the Pekoms event! 25:50 Don't forget Sogeking! I love that it's a running gag that Luffy can't regognize anyone in disguise no matter how bad it is 39:00 Brook is the MVP of the arc! But Jinbei asking why he should fear a "mere yonko" being part of the future Pirate King's crew gave me goose bumps
Regarding why Pudding would explain the plan to Riju before erasing her memory: as you read more you’ll get a lot more about Pudding herself. With that in mind, I think she did that out of a guilty conscience. She probably wanted to get it out as a sort of confession.
1:04:32 i honestly love Merphy's analysis on why Pudding started to act that way, with Sanji's unexpected reaction to her third eye breaking her expectations on how people should treat her. She's honestly become so confused with how to react to the first compliment she's ever received.
Did u realized Mother had the same Devil Fruit as Big Mom? Also, one of the giant kids in the flashback is Hajrudin and the giant girl is Gerd, she is the Doctor of the New Giant Pirates. About Bartolomeu cover story, he is burning Shank's flag ;)
Linlin ate everyone. That's why she has Mother Caramel's devil fruit immediately after. The giants hate Linlin because she killed one of their kings before Caramel revealed the soul devil fruit power to put the fire out.
Its not that Luffy cant read between the lines. In fact he very much can. Hes one of the most emotionally intellegent characters in the series. But he needs to have someone themselves express their feelings and desires before he acts on them. Cause he wont step in without knowing that they want him to first.
No you're right, Big Mom ate them. It's thanks to Big Mom that we now know that one of the ways to get a devil fruit power is to eat the previous holder of the fruit alive.
Just something cute I noticed in WCI, Jeff always called sanji chibi nasu (little eggplant -literal translation) when he's a child, and sanji was guarded by an eggplant soldier in his WCI room 😆 (You can hear in the anime his sentences always end with '-nasu' as his way of talk)
You should pay notice to Katakuri's Devil Fruit abilities: The Mochi-Mochi fruit. Mochi is a sticky substance in Japanese food culture, and is about as close to "rubber" as a food can get. So you essentially have two characters duking it out with very similar powers, with the exception being that Katakuri's Mochi-Mochi skills are a tier above Luffy's Gum-Gum abilities. It's a very interesting fight from an author's perspective since you are pairing two characters with similar abilities, but one of them has mastered his while the other is still feeling his out.
I'm sure other people have mentioned this (but I am playing catch up); but the implication with Linlin's backstory is that she ate Mother Caramel and the other children on her birthday. I don't know if it's explicitly mentioned, but I think it's implied that Mother Caramel had the Devil Fruit Linlin now has and when she ate her, she got those powers as well. However, I think she just blacks out, sorta, while she's eating all the food, which is why she doesn't understand where everyone went
i think pudding is just a psychopath so she wanted to see her reaction when she told her her whole family is gonna die but yea it was definitely convenient that sanji overheard
Linlin has an unexplained mental illness that causes her to lose control - but as far as we know, no one has ever tried to treat her. And she has had a very poor upbringing - but no one wanted to help her in that regard either. Her parents were just too afraid of her and Mother Carmel was never interested in setting her straight. At that, I'm not even sure Big Mom is still the original Linlin. It can't be healthy to use your own soul to animate other (and even quite powerful) things. If it merely remains with the loss of one's own soul, I even still see that as the best-case scenario, since soul manipulation can lead to so many abysses.
oh yeah, Stussy can remind you of that as well, since I am german I was constantly reminded of Tussi which is like an insult for 'a woman who is superficial and overly concernced with her looks' little random german lesson xD
Thanks for the video! Love your reactions and theories and the chapter by chapter format for each arc. When you and Amber did your live stream, you talked about what Devil Fruit you would want. I couldn't spoil it at the time, but I theorized you would both have gone for Mont-d'Or's Book-Book Fruit. What are your thoughts now after seeing so many more DFs in this arc?
So, there are a lot of parallels between Robin's situation in Enies Lobby and Sanji's here. They both feel unworthy of being part of the Strawhats and Luffy 100% knows that. That's why Luffy gets both of them to confirm what they truly want before he verbally backs them up. Not as obvious on a first read-through, but ridiculously obvious on later read-throughs. Also, recall that he "gave up" for a second in the Alabasta arc until he got Vivi to put their lives on the line too. Luffy is very intelligent in terms of emotions, fighting, and calculating how many meals he missed while unconscious (had to add that last one in there lol). Yeah, absolutely no sympathy for Judge! Big Mom eating Mother Carmel and the other orphans is wild and I had to read that part several times during my first reading in order to make sure I actually read it correctly! Never make plans when Luffy is involved 🤣🤣🤣
I think Sanji needed to tell Luffy himself that he wanted to go home, everything that happened to him since Zou wasn't his choice everyone else was making decisions for him, so him saying it was kinda freeing himself from those imposed life choices. And the reveal that Big Mom had devoured her family made my blood run cold!
Reiju was snooping. Pudding caught her, shot her then told her the whole plan and took her memory. She sends her to the infirmary after the memo stuff. She didn’t release Reiju after beating her up. You have the order wrong ❤ the anime makes it more clear
Pudding only really needed to test the gun on any of the germa siblings but while she was at it she wanted to tell Reiju the plan I guess as a means to vent before the executing it? Cause it wouldn't matter anyway since she can rewrite memories.
I'm racing you, Gavin. I'm trying to finish whole cake on the anime. And I don't want to be spoiled either. So I might only watch 3/4. This video is i'm not sure if I'm two thirdsor more or less through this arc
You might have heard this already, but the giant in BM her flashback that were gonna leave in 10 years are the giants that were at enies lobby for 50 years.
I strongly disagree about Luffy not having the brain power to read between the lines, Luffy is the most intuitively emotionally intelligent person in the whole series, he knew how Sanji really feels and Luffz wants Sanji to admit it to himself
1:14 Yeah, how Pudding was drawn in her cameo at Fishman Island was a little different than her final version. Not to mention Oda intentionally hiding her third eye, most people weren't convinced they were the same person. Also, in hindsight, have you realized that Big Mom ate some homies in her cameo at FI? 3:50 As shown later with her discussion with Big Mom (16:50), Puddig wanted to test if their weapons would be effective against Germa's skins. Edit: actually, in Ch 854 she openly say that Reiju was snooping around so she took care of her and also test the weapons. 16:40 Not exactly, the roulette was about the price that Jinbe's crew had to pay with him. That's why he didn't do it. He was willing to sacrifice anything himself, but not involving his crew. 46:00 I think the point of Big Mom's flashback is to drive the point that she is a "natural born disaster" (it's even the title of a chapter). It's not to feel sympathy for her. 47:00 They were captured by the marines (remember Enies Lobby). 49:30 Yep, she ate them all... 1:07:25 Yeah, that is exactly the issue with all the fake-out deaths. We are now naturally skeptical of any new apparent "death" and therefore lose any emotional investment in it.
Pudding telling Reiju the plan may be about her wanting someone to recognize how much and important a role she is playing in setting up Germa since she knows that Big Mom is not going to give her the praise or validation that she is craving. She can get the recognition from Reiju on how well she is playing her part and since Reiju was snooping she would be altering her memory anyway. Plus the added satisfaction of seeing Reiju walking to her death with that crucial knowledge dangling just out of her reach.
3:21 I think Pudding just told her to mess with her. The Charlotte family seem to be almost all bad people, so I think she just wanted to see Sanji's sister helpless and suffering knowing full well she was going to get away with it.
Pudding wanted to test out the candy jacket bullets to make sure they could pierce the Germa skin. Since she had the opportunity and the method of editing memories, she felt like it was no big deal to spill the plan.
Luffy asking sanji to speak what he really wants is also a parallel to enies lobby when he tells robin, some thing like "i still haven't heard you say it, say what you really want" and then she says she wants to live.
26:48 this name is 100% going to come back to us when we eventually get to Elbaf. The god of deceit and mischief in Norse mythology, and the son of The giant Fàrbauti. Easy to speculate that hes the prince of Elbaf or atleast the son of a King/Chief. And we know we'll likely go to Elbaf since it's one of Usopps dreams. This is just my personal guess tho.
Pudding shot and captured Sanjis sister because she was snooping around. Its not like she just did it randomly, she prevented her from snooping on the Big Mom pirates and then changed her memory to fix the problem. On top of this, Pudding has a bit of an obsession with control(cant say much more about this for now). Likely the fact that she can toy with her enemies and get away with it gives her a massive power trip.
Pudding telling reiju about the plan is just a cruelty thing, imagine being able to walk to someone you hate and tell them to fuck off, just to erase that memory as if nothing happened
You actually think Luffy is going to INSTANTLY kick the ass of a Sweet General with a bounty of over a Billion Berries one on one when it took him over 11 hours to beat Cracker AND only when he had Nami as an assist? I guess I'll forgive you because you're cute.
Mother Caramel had the Soul Soul fruit before Big Mom and after her birthday party Big Mom had it. How do you get the power of a devil fruit? You eat it.
I am a Charlotte Linlin apologist, she is one of my favorite characters, my poor little meow-meow... Her backstory is just so gut-wrenching! Mother Carmel is a SLAVE TRADER that saw the destructive power Linlin had and saw that as an asset, instead of teaching her how to control her power so that she wouldn't hurt anyone. You can see that in the wolf and the bear situation in chapter 866, when Linlin caused the bear to eat the wolf and then killed the bear with one blow "because she just wanted them to be friends". Instead of explaining why she did wrong, Carmel congratulated Linlin on her "good intentions"... And that mentality stuck to Linlin until today! She has a very cute noble dream of uniting all races on her land and having all her family sitting with her at the dining table (trauma from that birthday amirite?), but for that dream to come true she kidnaps and forces her citizens to give her their LIFE, and she paid Ceasar Clown to experiment with children!!! for the gigantification drug! But everything is excused because she has good intentions, right?
She is just so f*cked up, on so many levels... She NEVER had a good adult in her life! So, you talked about how so many characters have that weird long tongue right? So, at the end of the Big Mom flashback, Streusen approaches her. He is currently the head chef of Tottoland, and he's 92 years old. He is the co-founder of the Big Mom pirates, raising Linlin since she was 6 years old and he was 30!! So... Perospero is the oldest son of the Charlotte family, and he's 50 years old. Big Mom is 68, so she was 18 when her first son was born. Perospero looks a lot like Streusen, don't you think??? Just a bonus: Streusen has the "Kuku Kuku no mi" (Cook Cook Fruit) and Perospero's laughing style is "Kukuku"... I mean... This was never confirmed but I think it's pretty obvious that Streusen groomed Linlin since she was a child and impregnated her when she was 17/18. I know, I know, Linlin is awful, but she also went through a lot of sh1t
I have a lot of feelings about Big Mom. From the flashback, you can see that Zeus was the first homie she's created, and he also has the most "childish" personality. He represents her gluttony and Prometheus represents her anger. I don't know if she lost a bit of herself by lending her soul to them, but I wouldn't be surprised. Maybe that's why her hunger pangs are worse and worse with age. Like other commenters said, Linlin has a very serious mental disorder related to addiction. In this case it's sugar, but we can make parallels with other drugs in real life. She is Indulgence personified, she seeks pleasure with food, men and violence and she can never get enough, because she never learned Moderation.
All I can say for Pudding showing Reiju her true self, wouldn't you? If you could say anything, do anything, without consequences for your actions wouldn't you give it a try? Pudding has to hide a part of herself all the time, even in front of her own mother. She has a fake sweet facade because her looking normal draws people in, only for them to see her real self and get freaked out. That's very emotionally damaging. Add to that that she has the ability to remove peoples memories means that she can better hide it. But what if she just doesn't want to hide it, what if she wants to show it off sometimes? Yes, it was Oda's way of showing us this cause we had to find it out, but i don't think it's lazy at all. Plus I think Reiju was sneaking around so that's why Pudding targeted her, but I might be misremembering things.
When you catch up in the manga, then go through the anime! Also I'm half way through your reaction and you are talking about how Sanji hasn't been able to get over his simping ways - something I want to suggest and maybe it's just headcanon but Sanji is more empathetic than most in part because of how his mother used the drugs to prevent him from losing his emotions. Instead of it affecting all the kids though, it only affected Sanji which meant he got all of the empathy that they all should have had. Now, flash back to Dressrosa where Violet was beating him up and he said no, you are the one actually hurting inside. He is able to sense the true feelings of ladies sometimes, and this is possibly one of those times, when she raises the veil...
19:34 - I don’t think that’s what it is. Luffy is very emotionally intelligent. He knew sanji was beating round the bush so he was asking him to be honest
Ever since Pell survived a nuke level explosion in Alabasta, I've always been sceptical of deaths. Without spoiling anything specific for the future, even now there's a few characters that I'm not 100% sure on being dead, where-as in any other series I'd have no doubt in my mind that they're gone. Imo it's one of the greatest general flaws in One Piece, though I still love it to bits.
Between linlin's friends & mother the only one who survived is the girl who was shocked while watching her eating everyone else and interestingly that girl when she grow up (in the current time) she will join the strawhats grand fleet with the giant from dressrosa , if you go back to the cover stories of the grand fleet you'll see her behind him , it's interesting to me cuz that story line could come back in the future like the box in this video
For why telling rejiu the plan, considering what we learned later on.. she probably want a way feel powerful over someone and not have backfire on her since she did say sorta the same thing to luffy and nami while they were tied up
In Ch. 854 Pudding openly explains that Reiju was sniffing around so she took care of her and also tested if their weapons would work on their hardned skins.
There was no point in revealing the plan to Reiju other than the pleasure of gloating. You're just to nice and would never think of that, lol And I'm sad you didn't mention one of my favorite bits, which was Brook addressing Big Mom as "Young Lady"
At last you came to whole cake Island as i have a lot to say about Sanji as a character. because I really like Sanji as a character but I'm equally annoyed how his character is reduced to mere gags in many instances. **** PLEASE READ TILL THE END**** Aside from one of the greatest character traits of Sanji to know the importance of food and his love for cooking... There are more dimensions to Sanji as a character. My take on Sanji is... He has this trauma response to hold on to those dearest things to him (like his love for cooking was connected to his best memory of his mother; his mother, Sister having a deep impression on him cementing the fact that women must be good by default and they must always be cherished; and Zeff's ideals of feeding the hungry added on to his connection for cooking, not Zeff's teachings about hurting women & protecting the weak got rooted in him) and completely reject those things that remotely hint at the Germa and Judge (anything that takes away his humanity and ideals). Especially his mother gave up her life trying to protect Sanji and his trueself (his humanity) ... So he doesn't want to lose it at any cost. And he does things to the extremes as a overcompensation because he subconsciously believes that if he dials down his extent of actions, he is doing disservice to his ideals or he might get sucked into a persona of what Judge wanted him to become. He is always suffering from the internal conflict of being afraid to lose himself and his ideals.. due to which he overcompensates outwardly. This overexaggerated action of Sanji is what his major common flaw throughout his life... And just like Merphy mentioned, Sanji does anything at extreme proportions and he doesn't have restraint when it comes to things that he believes in. -His care for others/his eagerness to protect his friends/his determination to hold on to his ideals of not hurting a women/his trigger reaction to any taunts or teasing from his friends/his ability to understand others and be a support to them/his respect for women and his chivalry/ his level of simping for women / Or his disgusting perviness... Everything is dialed to 11. -Next Sanji's chivalry exists because only people who were good to him when he was a child were women (his mother and his sister). So, his automatic impression that he is forever indebted to them... This got fuelled further through Zeff's ideals... And Sanji thus took up this chivalrous side if himself and always embraced it as he felt it is his duty to protect them.. at least to sbow gratitude for what his mother and sister did for him when he was small. **************** Now, coming to my understanding of the perviness... And THE POINT FROM WHERE everyone started to hate him... The dream of invisibility fruit... in Thriller Bark. -I think Sanji was so much isolated, humiliated and oppressed during his childhood especially after losing his mother, that he wanted to DISAPPEAR from there... So that's the PRIMARY and ORIGINAL REASON he wanted an invisiblility fruit when he saw the devil fruit encyclopaedia. -This is even more probable because he was a child at that time when he saw the encyclopedia at which point he desired for it (and I'm pretty sure as at that time he was just an innocent child of 7-8 yrs who wants some love and care from parents and family... and a child of that age will not have any sexual desires) - of course, later when Sanji left his home and came to east blue, and as he grew up... This deep rooted desire for the invisibility fruit still remained and that desire for it subconsciously got TWISTED into wanting it for the wrong reasons like peeping etc, ... WHICH I FEEL IS A DEFENCE MECHANISM OF HIS TO DENY HIS VULNERABILITY OF WANTING TO ESCAPE AND DISAPPEAR from his traumatic experiences.... -However, he doesn't realise this and he LEANS INTO THIS TWISTED REASON even more... and it inturn transforms a part of his intrinsic respect and love for women into lust ... AND SINCE SANJI DOESN'T REALISE THIS, HE STARTS TO BELIEVE THIS LIE EVEN MORE AND LEANS INTO IT TO EVEN MORE EXTREME PROPORTIONS... Ultimately He ends up believing that he has always wanted that fruit for the same reason he made himself subconsciously believe.. which is peeping.... And the original reason is lost in the depths of his subconscious mind. This is the central flaw in Sanji as a character... "BELIEVING A LIE" (whether it is believing that he wants the invisibility power for peeping or whether he believes he loses his ideals and his human-self ... for which his mother sacrificed her life, so he has to overcompensate and exaggerate his actions subconsciously) -Now, since Sanji still cherishes women due to the care and love given by his mother and sister in his childhood, as well as Zeff's ideals of Chivalry, he still retains the positive aspects of caring, respecting and protecting women. -This positive aspect of his INHERITED IDEALS is what gives Sanji the restraint NOT TO CROSS THE LINE and harm anyone.. which is THE CENTRAL DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SANJI AND ABSOLOM... Even though both are wrong in the matter... Absolom is irredeemable but... Sanji at least has a boundary that he won't cross due to his inherited ideals .... And he believes in the lie.... (i.e., "his long standing desire for the invisibility fruit is for the purpose of peeping" ). This BELIEF IN THE LIE being the consequence of his defence mechanism to mask his deeprooted insecurity to become invisible and escape the harsh environment and trauma due to his hateful family during his childhood... Makes him a layered interesting and fascinating character even when it comes to his perviness ... But ofc when implemented moderately by Oda. ******* THIS IS ASPECT OF SANJI IS SO UNFORTUNATE, BUT A DEEP CHARACTER TRAIT WHICH CAN BE FURTHER EXPLORED TO DEVELOP HIS character... And I genuinely feel the pervy side of Sanji is not the worst thing, but Oda does overdo it and pushes it to extremes... Making Sanji irritating at times.... I feel the Gags have a purpose, but Oda overdoes and that is the main problem. I hope this aspect of Sanji is explored more ... And Not just remain as gags. -Even though I feel SANJI'S character is so deep, layered and interesting, and he is so cool, reliable, gullible and goofy at the same time, ... and all these characteristics of him are great in contrast to the pervy side..., Which irritates everyone including me, I later started to realise that the pervy side of him is also very interesting to disect, ... I can only hope that ... Oda can dial Down the amount of pervy gags of Sanji... And give more time for other sides this character... Whether it can be his goofiness, coolness, gullibility, reliability, empathy, his exaggerated overcompensational behaviour or even the psychie behind his perviness or his internal conflict of being afraid to lose himself... Just like the MVP of the whole cake island Brook says... Sanji is too kind hearted to do anything for himself... And sacrifice everything for others...
It's plot convenience that Pudding revealed the plan, but could be also that she wanted to see the reaction of Reiju without any repercussions, by removing her memories after.
19:20 Luffy is good at reading people. Otherwise how would he have had all these amazing and good hearted people in his crew rather than evil ruffians? Luffy can tell how kind and sensitive Sanji is and how like you said is making excuses rather than telling him how he truly feels. The reason Luffy acts tough and comes off as mean to characters like Koby, Shirahoshi, and Momonosuke is that he’s basically being like Ace to them. They’re all crybabies but Luffy is trying to toughen them up so they can achieve their dreams and / or help the people they care about. Remember when Luffy met Sabo and Ace. Luffy was a crybaby and the minute he reunited with Sabo, Luffy went back into being their crybaby little brother. It’s cute and funny how Luffy attracts all these cry babies. But back to Sanji. Yeah Luffy has an issue with trusting people so easy and falling for tricks but Luffy can read people. Otherwise how would Luffy know that when Sanji was kicking Luffy that it wasn’t him (Luffy) who was hurting. It was Sanji which is confirmed with Sanji crying in the carriage while trying to hide it from his condescending non sympathetic brothers.
The giants talking about getting Dorry and Broggy are the ones who were captured by the World Government and forced to guard Enies Lobby, that's why they never made it.
Big Mom 100% ate everyone, I was honestly rather confused when you didn't even consider it in the chapter when it happend lol, but you did pick up on it the next chapter so its fine.
I mean putting being able to take away and edit memories and telling Sanjis sister I I know it's plot but we know villains like a monologue. Now if you were a villain and you had the ability to tweak memories😂 so she's basically effing with the family and getting rid of the evidence
I think the reason bad guy tells their plan is to get the satisfaction in seeing people reaction, to see the fear, the despair, and the likes. She's still a big mom's daughter after all.
Oh yeah, Linlin 100% ate Mother Carmel. That's how it goes when a superpowered toddler has zero impulse control. It's even scarier when you realize Linlin has Mother Carmel's devil fruit ability afterwards.
I wonder if Blackbeard ate a part of Whitebeard to gain the devil fruit ability, maybe the heart
which is why she has mother caramel's devil fruit now... that is probably as much of a confirmation as we are gonna get on that topic...
@@godiloveminininjas4278he ate his heart pretty sure. I think I remember there being a hole there.
@@Pinko-Diamondthere was hole there because he got blasted with a cannon ball.
Chapter 854: Sanji made the food for Pudding but he unconsciously made the whole cruise's favorite dishes, he simply missed his buddies.
When he realize ans say "what the hell am I doing.." god i feel for sanji.. i can not do anything bit cry under the rain when he see himself ¿betrailed? For pudding.. trying to light up his smoke under the rain.. OMG i Stiller cry
Big Mom is one of my favorite characters in One Piece. She's very underrated.
Her backstory is horrifying, cannibalism allegations are HEAVY
Yeah I agree, I find her way more interesting as a yonko than some of the others we meet later on in the series.
No matter how Hard you kick me.. it's not me who gets hurt
I strongly disagree about Luffy not having the brain power to read between the lines, he KNOWS how Sanji really feels, and wants him to admit it to himself
Alsooo fairly certain Big Mom's hunger pangs are an involuntary/ uncontrollable thing, not just her being an immature brat, which she also is
Luffy is the most intuitively emotionally intelligent person in the whole crew. And he always waits for someone to ask for help otherwise he'd be taking control of their fate.
Pretty much. It's not that Luffy that needs to hear it. It's that he knows that Sanji needs to have himself say it.
Luffy is a people person he is street smart if u don’t have any street smarts you wouldn’t be able to understand luffy
He outsideeeeeee
I don't think Luffy reads between the lines intentionally as much as he intuitively sees a person's true intentions and feelings regardless of what they're projecting to him. It's not a conscious thing for him, he just senses it automatically.
3:25 many of us think it's plot convenience. Personally, I also think that Pudding is a chaotic neutral/evil that loves to see betrayal in her victim's face. After all she also told Luffy and Nami while looking at them both at the same time to see their reactions.
14:15 when I joked about the "more sunglasses" in the livestream I was actually thinking about Naruto, but I guess Oda's joke in the SBS has also been put in my brain subconsciously LOL
19:30 I think Luffy can intuitively sense that Sanji wants to return to the strawhats but Luffy can't help Sanji because you can't help someone who doesn't want help.
Nvm, you said it minutes later
1:03:00 I like this theory!
1:06:25 in the livestream with Merphy and Amber, you asked if anything tragic will happen again, and Amber answered positively, she most probably meant this scene
Thank you for the review!
That timing at 40:22 is too good Gavin omg
Still watching but that one really got me
I'm glad you picked up on Big Mom eating everyone!
Makes ya wonder how Blackbeard got Whitebeard's power. Nibble nibble...
Hard to say
Haha okay actually when you put it like that, I think I would too 😂
It's part plot convenience, yes, but as shown later with her discussion with Big Mom (16:50), Puddig wanted to test if their weapons would be effective against Germa's hardened skin.
@@lukebeich Oh I didn't think she shot Reiju to gloat, but was arguing that her personality is the reason she gloated after capturing her.
4:00 so cute to see that even if you read a lot, "torture" isn't a word that you know lmao
I love that it's a running gag that Luffy can't regognize anyone in disguise no matter how bad it is
39:00 Brook is the MVP of the arc! But Jinbei asking why he should fear a "mere yonko" being part of the future Pirate King's crew gave me goose bumps
1:03:05 that's an incredible way of reading a character. i believe that too!
47:49 oh sweet summer child, they didn’t leave on a boat…
Did u realized Mother had the same Devil Fruit as Big Mom? Also, one of the giant kids in the flashback is Hajrudin and the giant girl is Gerd, she is the Doctor of the New Giant Pirates.
About Bartolomeu cover story, he is burning Shank's flag ;)
Uploading right when I’m at work again. I LOVE IT! Thanks Gavin
I just knew, I always know
Linlin ate everyone. That's why she has Mother Caramel's devil fruit immediately after. The giants hate Linlin because she killed one of their kings before Caramel revealed the soul devil fruit power to put the fire out.
48:34 and you have any idea why big mom has mother Carmen devil food power?
Its not that Luffy cant read between the lines. In fact he very much can. Hes one of the most emotionally intellegent characters in the series. But he needs to have someone themselves express their feelings and desires before he acts on them. Cause he wont step in without knowing that they want him to first.
No you're right, Big Mom ate them. It's thanks to Big Mom that we now know that one of the ways to get a devil fruit power is to eat the previous holder of the fruit alive.
Oh sweet, innocent Gavin, thinking that Mother Carmel simply left Linlin with all the other children.
lol I also thought about the red wedding, might need to listen to the song while reading it!
Your knowledge about One Piece is outstanding. We look forward to see more from you.
52:09 glad you loved Sanji and Nami laughing, cuz Pudding sure didn't found all that nice
Just something cute I noticed in WCI, Jeff always called sanji chibi nasu (little eggplant -literal translation) when he's a child, and sanji was guarded by an eggplant soldier in his WCI room 😆
(You can hear in the anime his sentences always end with '-nasu' as his way of talk)
I must admit :
I love Katakuri as much as you loved Ace. 🥰🥰🥰
I'm happy you finally meet him.
Finally going to see Katakuri! He's my third favourite character in the series! I'm excited to see this review and especially the next one
26:55 The giants are all based around Viking culture.
30:00 - I thought the same thing 😭😭😭
I think Sanji needed to tell Luffy himself that he wanted to go home, everything that happened to him since Zou wasn't his choice everyone else was making decisions for him, so him saying it was kinda freeing himself from those imposed life choices.
And the reveal that Big Mom had devoured her family made my blood run cold!
I just started watching one piece (husband finally got me too haha) I'm so excited for these videos 😻
It could be plot convenience or pudding just stupidly confident that everything will go as planned. It's a big anime troupe i guess.
This was fast! Thank you for your hard work
You might have heard this already, but the giant in BM her flashback that were gonna leave in 10 years are the giants that were at enies lobby for 50 years.
Love the Zoro analysys 1:03:22
29:55 what does stussy mean?
My newest Video crashed twice during rendering... u give me the strength and enjoyment i need right now! thank you!
love your yohoho jokes so much!
Pudding probably just told Reiju to be sadistic and see the pain on her face.
Pudding told Reiju just to mess with her. To be cruel and mean and get to see that reaction out of Reiju then rip away the memories
Loki was known as prince of frost giants, thats the connection
2:18 unfortunately thats not only the case for the one piece world
She was practicing her acting
Pudding telling reiju about the plan is just a cruelty thing, imagine being able to walk to someone you hate and tell them to fuck off, just to erase that memory as if nothing happened
"So it looks like Mother Carmel really did just take the other children and left."
Me: ... I'm gonna tell him.
Starting now, can't wait. :)
Hope you enjoy!
1:01:34 😂😂😂that was quite funny
She is Indulgence personified, she seeks pleasure with food, men and violence and she can never get enough, because she never learned Moderation.
yup, she ate them all - that's how she got Mother Carmel's Devil Fruit! :D
4:13 the simple answer is Pudding grew up in a family filled with cruel and sadistic people, so she just told Reiju to enjoy hurting her.
It's the "perfectly good" people you need to watch out for because they're likely hiding something, not the bad people. As for Pedro, yes he's dead.
2:55 Catharsis. Narcissism. Gloating for the sake of gloating.
There was no point in revealing the plan to Reiju other than the pleasure of gloating. You're just to nice and would never think of that, lol
And I'm sad you didn't mention one of my favorite bits, which was Brook addressing Big Mom as "Young Lady"
At last you came to whole cake Island as i have a lot to say about Sanji as a character.
because I really like Sanji as a character but I'm equally annoyed how his character is reduced to mere gags in many instances.
**** PLEASE READ TILL THE END****
Aside from one of the greatest character traits of Sanji to know the importance of food and his love for cooking...
****************
Now, coming to my understanding of the perviness...
-This is even more probable because he was a child at that time when he saw the encyclopedia at which point he desired for it (and I'm pretty sure as at that time he was just an innocent child of 7-8 yrs who wants some love and care from parents and family... and a child of that age will not have any sexual desires)
- of course, later when Sanji left his home and came to east blue, and as he grew up...
"BELIEVING A LIE" (whether it is believing that he wants the invisibility power for peeping or whether he believes he loses his ideals and his human-self ... for which his mother sacrificed her life, so he has to overcompensate and exaggerate his actions subconsciously)
-Now, since Sanji still cherishes women due to the care and love given by his mother and sister in his childhood, as well as Zeff's ideals of Chivalry, he still retains the positive aspects of caring, respecting and protecting women.
Absolom is irredeemable
but...
*******
THIS IS ASPECT OF SANJI IS SO UNFORTUNATE, BUT A DEEP CHARACTER TRAIT WHICH CAN BE FURTHER EXPLORED TO DEVELOP HIS character...
-Even though I feel SANJI'S character is so deep, layered and interesting, and he is so cool, reliable, gullible and goofy at the same time, ... and all these characteristics of him are great in contrast to the pervy side..., Which irritates everyone including me,
I later started to realise that the pervy side of him is also very interesting to disect, ...
Yeah... About Mother Carmel and the kids....
He made that food for pudding but he's used to making food for the crew now he accidently he made a lot of food and it's all their favorite
Common understanding is that Big Mom ate them.
But this is never directly confirmed I do not think.
In the anime Stussy's name is pronounced "Stoo-See" like how Luffy's " U "
She told Reiju about the plan purely out of arrogance, nothing more than that.
Noooo Gavin no, who gonna tell him what happened to mother caramel and the other orphans?
Luffy ......help me. Luffy puts the Hat on her Head..... and yells "Ofcourse I will!!!!!!!!!"
