I agree with Lady Debra. You inspire me. I'm a 72 year old widow and I want to be like you when I grow up. I'm always ready to watch your next video.
Elaine dont you just love Patera..she is my favorite youtuber.. I get so excited when my notifications go off for her videos .
💗💗💗
Me too and I'm 50! 😂
I learn so much from this Channel.
Hello Dan! I enjoy&learn a lot from your Channel also! I just caught up with you a few hours ago. Patara does make it look easy, water bathing. I'm getting ready to try "putting up" blueberry &cherry Jan/preserves. Just starting to get ripe strawberries...
Patara is great isn't she?
@@freethinker4596 She’s absolutely amazing
Between you and Patara your teaching the truth and preparing us for the near future.
Thank you both .
We might think we are nurturing our garden but something the truth is our garden is really nurturing us. Much like our garden Patara is our mustard seed nurturing us as homesteaders and Christians Patara thanks for the blessing and giving me so much knowledge with homesteading, canning, and so much more. Many blessings
So true!
I totally agree
Skimmed off foam on saltine crackers is a favorite snack on jam-making day. My Mom gave it to us and I gave it to my kids.
Hilled my potato buckets, trellised malabar spinach, replanted beans. Making a run for preps today.
I've been looking for malabar spinach to plant here in south Florida. I think I'll have to order it.
Re-enactments are so cool, you see a lot of old ways some are keeping alive . Good thing because these old ways might be needed again very soon. Blacksmiths, builders so very important along with herbalist apothecary . I love strawberry jam preserves
WE AS A SOCIETY MUST REMEMBER OUR PAST
Canned for my 1st time couple days ago. Pulled pork😋 now have ground beef cooking to can. Trying to do the meats in my freezer in case of power outages🙂
I do the same with my masher. Every strawberry is a politician! I love smashing them. That foam is so good on biscuits.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
That’s too funny!!
Too funny!!
Love it!
Patara, on Saturday I sent a box of wine cap mushroom spawn to your PO Box. They are simple to grow outside on wood chips. I got home, and the letter and instructions were sitting on my kitchen table. So these will be arriving in a separate envelope. Love the channel!
I've made strawberry jam, pineapple jam, blackberry jams also. They turned out wonderfully.
I was hopeful for dewberry..noooope. 😭
Pineapple jam?? That sounds heavenly
Thank you for this. I've been afraid of canning after an epic fail in the 80's. I feel an urgent need to learn everything I can
I grew up going tobthe farm to pick strawberries to make jam
I'm canning bacon today, got to go pick strawberries at 10 acre farm here in Western NC. I'M SO BUSY I meet myself going all the time lol Much love to everyone ✨❤💕💛
Can you share the name of the farm?
@@deborahstrickland9845 10 acre farm in Canton, NC💜💜
We used to wash in a colander sitting in the sink or, we put the colander over a pot. Then we would pit and place the pitted berries in a big bowl. From the bowl, we would chop or quarter into a big measuring cup. When full, the measuring cup would be emptied into the cook pot; and hopefully, we remembered the correct count of cups of strawberries. Any juices would either be drunk as a cook's treat or dumped into the cook pot; usually there was only a tablespoon or so. If we ended up with more berries than what fit in the cook for a batch, decisions had to be made: eat the de-topped and chopped berries fresh, measure and freeze in bags, or cover and refrigerate for an additional batch following the current batch. - The years we made multiple batches, as soon as there was enough for the first it was started. While that was cooking, another measured batch would continue to be prepared in-between stirring and canning the first batch; if it was hot, the chopped strawberries would be in the fridge as soon as they were measured. Then while the cooking pot was being washed, the strawberries came out of the fridge to warm up before being added to the freshly washed pot. 2 batches in a long day was about it for one person. And, even with 2 people we seldom cooked and canned more than 2 (there comes a time when dinner needs to be cooked in that kitchen too). De-stemming and chopping was sometimes done on day 1 then refrigerated for cooking the next day. I don't remember ever making more than 4 batches in the same time frame; that's a lot of jam. If there were still more strawberries, we prepped them for the freezer.
Patara, you are totally awesome at everything you do. Can't get to your videos fast enough.
Yesterday, I made strawberry jam from berries in the freezer and blueberry jam from frozen bags on sale for 99 cents a bag! Today, I made ice cream from powdered milk and strawberry jam--used my immersion blender---delicious!! Need to use up a can of expired powdered milk so its going to be our frozen dessert all summer (we eat dessert only once a week, usually).
Hello. I'm wondering if you would be so kind as to let us know how the strawberry jam made from the frozen berries turned out , please? Some people say to only use fresh berries. I've never canned jam before & I would like to so I'm just curious
Patara, your strawberry jam looks delicious. Did you use 1/4 cup of lemon juice?
Strawberry foam on toast was my favourite treat as a kid ❤
For pectin I add a little strawberry jello to the jam. We really like the flavor it adds too and I can use less sugar since the jello is sweet.
My husband and I did reenactment like these. He also did one at and old fort in Indiana. Blacksmith, Baker, leather maker. I learned different ways to do things my grandmother taught me.
@Teresa Ellis that's where he did them. He's from Hammond Indiana and lived in Warsaw. His son is still up there. I have pictures somewhere
Patara Thsnk you for this wonderful and easy Strawberry jam recipe , I can’t wait to make some myself ! Also I love your videos your a bright light in the mist of all this shortage mess we’re in ! I’m so excited I’ve been praying that God would guide me to some 56 gallon food grade barrels to store water in for my stockpile ! Well yesterday I secured 5 / 55 gallon food grade barrels and I got them for $5.00 each , the man said he just wanted them out of his yard and I am glad he did want them out of his yard and that I had seen them and ask about them ! I know they are food grade because there is shipping label on each barrel ) they had Tart Cherry juice Concentrate ( 2) snd (3) had Blackberry juice concentrate, labels had the shipped content on each barrel with the company name and address and phone number and the inside of each barrel has a enamel type coating ( but isn’t ) inside each barrel and each barrel has a lid with locking ring ! I l live on a tight fixed income and have been stockpiling since the pandemic started , but couldn’t ever find any reasonable food grade barrels once the shortages began , but God blessed me and I had to tell you , I’m so happy !! I feel that I’ve taken a huge step towards completing my stockpile to a place where I at least feel comfortable that I can survive for a good while since I’ve been stocking back for over 2 yrs and can at least take a deep breath and continue to stock as I can on my income and as prices allow !! Now out to wash well with water snd bleach and wipe down very good with vinegar and tincexeith water again and let sit dry them fill with water !!love ya and God bless ❤️🙏✝️🙋🏻
Don’t forget to add some bleach. I think it’s 55 drops or 1/4 cup. Might look that up to be sure it’s been awhile.
Amen 🙏!
Well I was just wondering if you would post today and BOOM there you are! So glad to 'see' you today, my friend.
Me too 😂
Patara, my wife and I are planning to do this tonight. Your upload came ar the perfect time. We appreciate you tremendously! 🙏🏽 🥰
I’m getting ready to do my jam also! ☺️ I love the Reenactments. My friend and her family do this every year. We love history in my house. (Real history) 😉 ❤️🙏
Amen to that!!
You were in my neck of the woods. Have spent many an hour reenacting at Martin's in days gone by. You were a stones throw from the farm. My view of the Gap is priceless! This is God's country.
I just finished canning up our figs from last fall. Pulled them out of the freezer to make space. You are right, strawberry jam is one of the easiest to can. I also like blueberry jam, another easy one. This year, finally, I have figured out an easier way to make seedless blackberry. The chickens appreciate the seeds, I don’t! I need to check on how many quarts of frozen strawberries I have now. Maybe that will be next! Thanks Patara!
I’d like to know that easier way too please. The way I do it is exhausting!
@@carnaheidbreder3698 See reply to AmyJo above.
@@highroad3580 I don't see it.
I made so much jams and jellies last year that I am going to be looking for alternatives for my berries this year. I still have over a year supply of jellies
The foam is my favorite part of jams and jellies. It tastes so good like candy!
Yes been wanting this video!!!!!! Thank you girl!
My ancestor fought in the Revolutionary war in the Shenandoah valley Virginia I love a good reenactment thank you for all you do Patera have a blessed day
Thanks for sharing another great video love seeing the reenactment 👍💕💕
That looks tasty!
Glad to see you found time to get your jam canned.
Looks yummy 😋
Thank you Patara! Doing this this week!
Made strawberry jam this weekend. Yummy!
Yessss I’m learning how to can do I need more content like this!
Thank you for taking the time to video the strawberry jam canning. Inspiring!
Thank you for sharing your pictures. I enjoy seeing them
Beautiful jam Patara!
That's some beautiful jam!
I'm coming to Tennessee to visit relatives in a couple of weeks. I'm sorry I missed this.
Oh so yummy 🤤
I canned strawberry jam for the first time since I was a kid. Back then we would sterilize the jars, lids, and ring; pour in the boiling hot jam; put on the lid and ring, and leave them upside down for 24 hours to seal them. I guess that method is a no-no now. It's a good memory anyway. Thank you for the inspiration!
I still do it that way.
Hello Patara. Thanks for sharing your quick and easy recipe to can strawberry jam!! Be well.
Thank you for sharing. Yes some time away is important
Thank you for sharing.God bless you and your family ❣️
Thank you! Strawberry's aren't ready yet in Pennsylvania but I'll make some jam this year!
Jam making is my favorite time of canning season! I like all kinds!
Thanks Patara ✌️😎👍❤️
My hubby and I used to do Civil War reenacting. Many of our unit, the 48th Tennessee, also crossed over into Rev War reenacting. Your video of the reenactment sure did bring back good memories. I make my strawberry jam exactly like you did. I never use pectin in anything so I can use less sugar. I like to taste the fruit and not the sugar.
Yeah! You made strawberry jam. It looks great.
Good place to visit. Have a great day 😀
Thank you for posting thus bc the strawberries just started getting big!
I have never canned so really glad you made this video. Love all your videos :)
Thank you sister girl!! Those will be so tasty this winter!♥️
That. Spoon is cool
Thank you Patara. I'm going to try it this weekend, I have the courage after watching you. Lolololololol. It seems alot easier than I thought it would be. Have a great day. God bless you and your family.
Love the strawberry milk idea with the skimmed foam
Thank you for sharing!
Love it. Again you are an inspiration
That spoon was gorgeous. I am going to make some of this for gifts!
I so look forward to your videos 🍓😊 thankyou!!! much love blessings to you hun! and all who watch this lovely channel ❤️
Expanding my garden today. Love making strawberry jam 💗
Your Jam looks so delicious 😋!
Working in my garden this morning. It was nice to come in to a new post from you. Peace and bountiful blessings.
Love strawberry jam. We canned 12 half pints last month. Thank you for your tips.
Hello::: Granny canned everything !!! I chopped 50 pound bag of Cabbage with a hand chopper. After 4 days I would sneak into the #10 brown Jar to get Sauerkraut. She caught me and got her part also. I would eat the core of the cabbage, she said that will kill you. Ain't killed me yet !!!
Nice and easy, great video and I like using the low sugar pectin option. I love having my blackberry and blood peach jam on hand through the year. Last year was an amazing year for my peach tree so I still have frozen, canned and dried peaches. I dehydrate my strawberries and blueberries for smoothies through the winter. Keeping busy!
That is beautiful jam! 💕 🍓 love the history you incorporate in your vids. God bless!
I can't wait to try water bath canning some of my own berries this year!! If I ever get warm enough weather for them to grow!
Martin's Station is so beautiful. I love taking my grandkids there!
Thank you , Patara, rewatching this today

Looks delicious. I am excited to can some strawberries soon. I just did a mixed berry jam last week. Had a mixture of berries that needed out of the freezer, had been in a tad long. Take care. Thanks for all you do.
Love using my freezer 'leftovers' to make Mixed berry jam!! It's never the same twice but always amazing!!! God bless!!
I love making jam! Seems like we use a similar recipe, too!
That’s awesome!
I was going to research strawberry jam today and boom! Thank you! My plants have blessed me this year!!
Yep 👍 strawberry jam was my first canning last June . Thanks Patera ❤️
I LOVE your spoon.
Great video!
You did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY
Oh, Patera, I could almost smell those beautiful strawberries as you were mashing away! The jam looked beautiful in the jars. I agree that they would make beautiful Christmas (or anytime) gifts.
My brother and wife do the American Revolution reenactment too. Learn so much from them. Going to make strawberry jam.
Canning chicken and dehydrating carrots today... But strawberry jam sounds tasty and I have some in the freezer I got on sale! Thank you ma'am!
Yummy! I do it the same way but add a few apples or pears just as a thickener. 🍓
Nice and should come in handy, I've been thinking of trying to grow strawberries this year once summer comes around in my area.
Love it used to do the freezer jam but need room try to get some before there all gone . Have a blessed day
I love freezer jams too-especially peach!
That’s where I live! About 12 miles from it
Made 6 jars of strawberry preserves today. It’s yummy 😋 Thank for sharing Sis! Have a blessed, productive week.
I just made Strawberry Rhubarb Jam on Sunday for the first time. It taste wonderful. I love watching your channel, keep doing what your doing. ❤️
Thanks Patara!
I love Martin Station! You're over on my side of the mountain ❤️
Hey! This is the video I've been waiting for. "We be Jammin'". 📻 🎼 🎤 🎵 🎶
This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you Patara! I meant to ask where you get your spoon, absolutely love it.
Beautiful Jam Patara!
I just bought some jars and will be getting the tools for canning. I'm starting my garden so as that comes, I'll be preparing other things.
You've inspired me. It's been a long time since I've canned jam (long time ago when we used wax seal like my mama taught me), but now I'm planning to do later this week. Thanks so much! I can do this!
Canned some Bourbon Pears today! Brandy cherries last Friday and Saturday! Planted more flower bulbs too
I made strawberry rhubarb jam last week. Love making jams. They are a sweet treat in our pantry. We need a treat along with the basics.
Strawberry fig is a family favorite. Your recipe is so awesome. I agree on the chunkiness. YUMMY!!!! Who knows? We may be living just like that reenactment.
