Years ago I drove a truck just like this with an MTM mixer on it with a 6-71 and a 9-speed O.D. Fuller. Wished it had a 13-under but it had what it had. I still can't hear either.
I drove for over 35 years and I like them quiet personally ! That ends so close to the cab that your not going to be able to have a conversation with someone going down the road ! Oh well to each his own !
Man what an awesome truck! I love that ol' beast! Can't beat the sound of a straight piped Detroit Diesel! Got some real stump puller gears in the old girl....4th gear in about 200 feet!
No a Detroit but I ran a short nose L9000 Ford dump truck. L 10 Cummins Had a long muffler under the frame. With 5.5 " flex pipe to the straight pipe with a turnout at to top of the cab under a full width rock guard. No AC Both windows down with 105 watt Jensen speakers in the door with a Factory AMFM cobra CB and a Business band radio. The muffler was for show it had no guts in it.
Good Video, I have '74 Paystar 5000 Dump Truck with a Detroit Engine. I was wondering if you could tell me where i can find the Serial Number to these older Detroit Engines. Thank you. P.s. I have another couple of questions if i may, could you tell me your idle Temperature is, and the Oil Pressure at an Idle is also? Again thank you
odd question but what exact type of 8v71 is that? (it sounds almost IDENTICAL to the one from Maximum overdrive, and for sure different from most of the ones recorded on you tube that I've seen)

Nothing sounds better that a straight piped 8V Detroit
A Detroit is made to be heard right on brother
Nothing like a Detroit Diesel engines the legendary motors with their own tone of sound
What a lovely soundtrack
Yes! You can't find these kinds of videos around anywhere.

Good luck with your hearing in a few years!
a turbocharged 8v71 sounds mean as hell in my opinion they sound better than all the modern pickup truck diesels
they really do have a beautiful sound
Cool! You had some fun with the old girl!
OH HELL YEAH BROTHER
Awesome

I liked it BUT please give it a new right eye & a wash.
Would have been great to open up the hood sides👍
Now your adding bling what's the plan for the truck ?
No plans yet just got a good deal on a 5 inch pipe
Yeah you should clean it up a little bit lmao
Maximum overdrive deleted scenes

My dad drove a truck in that movie when they were filming the trucks on the interstate
Not sure but I think this 8v71 came either NA and turbocharged this one is turbocharged
8v71T I believe is a 318 HP.
@@jerrykinnin7941 A 318 is a natural 8V71 with 65 cubic mm injectors. An 8V71T is turbocharged with 75 injectors.
Only thing to do is fix it up and use it.
Man ...... where’s the red truck??? What is next
Nice sounds good.. are those planetary rear axles?
Yes they are
@@highwayhunterray1603 shoot, that’s a house moving machine right there!
That is an underslung muffler from a ford.
