20 years later and Stephen is still THE MAN for beach fishing Cabo. Just wish he'd rent a rod/reel to me when I'm there from April 8-14. I'd love just one shot a rooster.
@StephenJansen1 I can't afford a saltiga but I have a 6500 saltist spinner, 48 inch line per turn and 33 llb drag.....500 yards of 50 lb braid with a 5 piece 11 ft diawa ardito surf rod rated 2 to 6 oz, so a budget version of your setup Do you think that would do for big roosters? And fhe 6500 really heavy too 29.6 oz, should I downsize to a 5000? Thanks again
@richarde1355 ot Cabo but Cuba, Huatulco and Neuvo Vallarta ......its a really good rod, casts a mile with ease, good backbone and responsive, not a broomstick. Biggest on it was a 35 pound jackmand could easily handle bigger.......did you get the medium weight like mine rated 12 to 25lb test 2 to 6 oz casting or the heavy version which is stiffer rated 3 tom8 oz casting?

What a wall mount Rooster fish! These days, photos and measurements are all that is needed. Ever hear of "New Wave Taxidermy?"
I fished with Martin, you can really put the breaks on with 30# braid. It cast so much further than 50# too.

Hey Brad, I use the 10.000 and 14.000, 14 is faster, a little big though, 10.000 is my favorite.
