    Praise to the man who dares to make a video explaining Shawn Lane's playing...to all the "critics", if you dont have something to contribute, then try to learn what you can and be grateful...

      Thanks a bunch man! It totally was a monster and I was very intimidated to begin the process of studying and making the video. (I'm still kind of nervous about it!) But I am glad I did it; I learned so many cool things! And there is still so much more to learn. The man is a legend!
      Thanks again for the kind words! :)

      Yeah but obviously you can’t succeed arguing with god because god doesn’t exist.
      In theory it’s possible to play like Lane.

  • @therealawakener7
    @therealawakener7 6 років тому +1

    The great thing is that 'Lane' was a one off, and because of that he is palatable to listen too in his originality. However copying him just becomes a verbatum exercise in malking noise rather than music. He's obscure because of that, I doubt whether many people can whistle a single song by him where as if I say to you "Ticket To Ride" you're already whistling the opening guitar riff. This is why 'George Harrison' is the greatest.

    Capo ????

    • @juanantoniomusic
      @juanantoniomusic  5 років тому +1

      Nope, it's a string dampener/fretwrap by a company called Gruvgear. It helps with eliminating certain unwanted sounds, specially when recording. Not a fan of it for playing live though.

    • @dougbloom3672
      @dougbloom3672 5 років тому

      Who can really define Shawn Lanes ambiguity?
      His influences were vast.
      They didnt have string dampners back then.
      Lol

    • @juanantoniomusic
      @juanantoniomusic  5 років тому +1

      They did have dampeners back then; Jennifer Batten and MAB used them all the time. Just like Greg Howe, Guthrie Govan, Aaron Marshall, Daniele Gottardo, the guys from Trivium and a ton of other players use them now.

      Cool
      Im old school
      Never saw Al Dimiola
      Or Shawn Lane use them
      Great technique equals unwanted sounds without the use of dampeners i guess.
      Carry on bro

    • @juanantoniomusic
      @juanantoniomusic  2 місяці тому

      I think you missed the point. It’s a lesson on phrases in his style. I am by no means as good as Shawn Lane, will never sound like him, nor do I have the desire to be him.

  • @davejackson88
    @davejackson88 4 роки тому

    There aren't stuff about shawn... congrats

  • @AlexisGitarre
    @AlexisGitarre 7 років тому +1

    Well, all these scales and licks don't matter as long as you don't know how to combine them with chords. I would be nice when you do less licks in a video and go more on the harmonic background. But in general there are hardly any youtube guitar players out there who do this. everybody is on scales and licks.

    • @juanantoniomusic
      @juanantoniomusic  7 років тому +1

      +AlexisGitarre That's a great suggestion! I'll come up with some videos on the harmony behind the songs (and in general) of some of these guys. Thanks!

  • @learnerlearns

    The word "crazy" does not mean "extreme." This now common misuse of language is one of the reasons people do not communicate or understand important issues well. That, in turn, is just one of the reasons the world is going to hell. Using language properly will improve your videos, AND your playing because it improves your mental discipline.

    • @CaptainBohnenbrot
      @CaptainBohnenbrot 6 років тому +5

      If it's common, it's not wrong. That's how language works.
