Ah this was so nice. I'm English and a Londoner, have travelled a lot in the past as a full time model so always enjoyed following you to get the travelling hit now that I'm in my late 30s and very much based here.. But so nice to see the things you appreciate about the UK, I feel like we get a bad rep on lots of things.. weather, food, people! So the positivity is lovely to see. Glad you're having a great time over here and hope it continues! If you're still in West London btw go get yourself a bun from 'Buns From Home' near Holland Park tube station, they are next level delicious! and go for a wonder around Holland Park, so pretty, rose gardens, Japanese garden and they have live opera performances in the park. Hey Sharla Brit here, the food thing comes from the WWII. The American forces got the idea that the food was terrible because it kind of was at the time. Food was rationed and in fact rationing in some lasted until 1954. So a generation of people went back to America with that impression. Given that international travel wasn't common until quite recently there wasn't a lot of first hand experience to dispel that myth in later years. Really glad you enjoyed your trip to the UK. Funnily enough we were in Cornwall around the same time!
I'm British and it's so cool seeing you wander around England and enjoy the sights and foods! I think people say English food is bad because while we've adopted the food of lots of different cultures here, traditional English foods tend to be stodgy and beige (eg pies, pasties, boiled puddings etc). I hope you had an amazing trip! Also I just ordered your skincare box and I'm super excited to try the products! ❤️
Great to see you in Kent. Was excited to see in my home town of Whitstable. When I saw you were going to go through the Westgate towers in Canterbury it really reminded me of getting the bus to school. It's an experience going through in a double decker bus. Really hoping we see more of your trip.
Awww Sharla 😘😘 then *don’t leave* or come back and live here. I’m immensely proud that such a beautiful and lovely woman as you, graced our wet and windy isle. GOD bless you. Matthew. 😀
Love that you're having such a great time here in the UK. The weather has been changeable but it looks like you've had some of the best of it so far! Love this! I live near Whitstable and work at one of the universities in Canterbury, so it is do strange seeing you on the streets of my home! So glad you had a nice time, and got to enjoy afternoon tea. Those books look great! There is so much history and things to see in England. Glad you got to dispel some myths about the food and weather! Come back again soon! 🇬🇧😍🇬🇧
I'm trying to talk my husband into moving to England for work. It would be 3-5 years from now so I have time to keep working on him. I'm so happy to see this. You are always so adventurous.
I've never been to England even though I live relatively close (Spain) and your video has reminded me of why I've always wanted to travel there 💖 I'm glad you're enjoying this adventure.
You picked a good time to visit, the weather's been very nice there. Your remark at the end about not having that feel of finding new things in Japan after having been there so long and being so excited about exploring England for that reason is one of the key factors as to why travel is so important. I hope the rest of your trip goes as well! (I also want to have a proper creme tea one of these days. 😋)
Yeah, like literally a week or two before they came the weather was trash? Got so lucky lol (although its still nice now apart from those 2-3 days of plus 30c!) 😂
You came at just the right time for the weather! I'm sad my American partner isn't going to be here until October, because I'm sure he'll get the worst of it 😭 So lovely seeing you enjoying the UK ✨ like others have said, us Brits find it hard to appreciate what we have, but there really is so much to see. I'm glad you're getting the best of it 💖
As a Brit, it's rather lovely to see the country through someone else's eyes! So glad that the weather has been kind to you. Oh, and don't forget to go to the Cotswolds while you are here - Chipping Camden, Bourton on the Water etc because while they are rather touristy, they are gorgeous. If you can manage to get to the north east, try Bamburgh for a magical coastal village with an incredible castle overlooking the sand dunes, beach and sea.
Yes for the cream first! My Devonshire heart thanks you haha! If you’re still in England definitely come to Bath - the most beautiful city (and Britain’s answer to an onsen) 😊
I heard great things about England. That is my next bucket list to visit and explore...castles, cottages and gardens. Esp eating Sunday roast . Heard a lot about it. ❤️
Even though i'm from Shropshire, I have family from Canterbury I'd visit in the summers where we'd go to Whitstable, you managed to make me feel so nostalgic with this video! It's so easy to be cynical about the UK but I think you softened a lot of Brits heart's today!
Definitely correct about the uk having a bad reputation for food for no reason. I live in Taiwan now and people always give me stick for it here, but our food is great! Thanks for speaking up about it lol and great video!
But have you tried genuine food in other European countries? Italy, France, Germany, Poland? In comparison Britain has pretty awful food (judging stuff you find in shops/supermarkets), sorry 😅😅
@@xXNekou Most British people don't generally cook ready meals and stuff from the supermarkets, we do home cooked meals - but I agree that the food in other European countries is better 😅 I live up north so we have a lot of Indian/ Pakistani influence and I love it!

Sharla, if you want a good cream tea when you get back to Japan - check out “Garage Blue Bell” in Kamakura - we lived in Kamakura for a couple of months in 2019 and this cafe reminded us of home! Very cute cafe - good selection of tea and delicious scones! I’m so glad you had such a lovely time - as a British person I am so mean about this island but you’ve helped me appreciate it with fresh eyes 🤣
As a Scot living in Edinburgh, I love visiting London. It has a great vibe. However, a visit to Edinburgh should really be a must. When you live in a place, you don’t appreciate it as much. But it’s such a beautiful city. Hope Mr Broad is showing you some nice sights too! Glad you guys are having fun.
I've watched you for years making videos a million miles away in Japan so its so weird (in a good way) to see you suddenly in SE Kent where I've lived my whole life. So glad you seemed to enjoy your visit!
That was lovely - and the weather was so kind to you LOL The British reputation for bad food really developed in the post-War era when the country was undergoing rationing and the food was pretty bad. Dull, beige and tasteless. Obviously, there were traditional 'working class' foods like jellied eels, black pudding, toad-in-the-hole and spotted dick whose names alone sent visitors scurrying for the sick bag, but from the mid 19th century to the late 1920s, Britain's culinary reputation was up there with the French (not least because the English upper and middle classes plundered every alleyway of France for their best chefs and recipes. It'll be interesting to see what you make of an Indian (catch-all term for all south Asia) curry.
'Ey up! Nice to see Sharla still flying the flag for YORKSHIRE TEA! GET IN! Hope you plan to come up North while you're here and see where the best brew comes from! We have nice hills and talk proper.
When I visited Britain 10 years ago (Damn!) I was also surprised by how good the food was- whether it was steak salad, Costa coffee desserts, Piri-Piri chicken, fish and chips, English breakfast, Cheddar cheese, everything was really delicious. Highly mesmerizing city too, grand and posh. Truly sad to see them split from EU, I was kind of a Brit-nut ever since I was a child.
This was so cool! 😍 England was my first foreign country love when I was little (admittedly probably because of Harry Potter 😂), before I fell in love with Japan, so seeing it through you is making me smile. Thanks for showing us!
I love all the extra patriotic decor that's up for the Queen's jubilee. Did the celebration affect your travel at all? Loved the video! Looks like a great trip. ☺
I lived in London for several years n whenever my family came to visit from mainland Europe they also said - "I dont understand why the UK has such a bad rep for food! Everything here is delicious!" N my answer to that would always be "as long as you have the money, you will eat n drink like a royal." The UK has amazing places to eat, but things are usually quite expensive (though it instantly gets cheaper when you're not in london anymore xD ) Hope you'll enjoy the rest of your stay!
You picked such a good time to visit. And thanks for bringing the sun with you. Its been lovely weather here since you arrived and it's still nice now. You should visit some of the castle ruins if you visit again. Some of the artefacts date back thousands of years BC. And as for British food being bad, just like a lot of our country's traditions that is part of its history but it simply isn't true anymore. Cooking and baking over here is actually very popular and the demand for different cuisines and access to quality food and ingredients really shot up over the last couple of decades. As a result we have a lot of really lovely places to eat that opened to meet the demand. Even American fast food companies have jumped in on the demand for food here recently.
You're making me want to go back to London and Kent, haven't been there in 4 or 5 years! Canterbury and Whitstable are two of my favourite places down that way so I'm glad you visited them. Next time you're in the UK though I hope you get the chance to visit Scotland! Also glad you enjoyed the food. Britain gets a bad reputation but honestly the food in both England and Scotland is good (can't comment on Wales or Northern Ireland since I've never been there but I'm sure it'll be good too!)
It’s so weird seeing you vlogging places I’ve been loads! I’m in London all the time and I went to Uni in Canterbury for 3 years… Glad you’ve had some nice weather and a good time!!
You seem really happy and excited! I'm glad you're enjoying it. When I visited England it felt like I'd gone to Narnia or something, it has such a different feel compared to Canada.
Bad food reputation comes from rationing in the 1940's and 1950's which basically destroyed traditional cooking / dishes because it all had to be adapted to what was available. Food culture didn't really start to recover in most places until the 1990's.
@@davidordaz5251 A good example of this is cheese - Britain is famous for cheese, rivals France, but under rationing only cheddar was allowed to be made as they had to maximise efficiency
I really enjoy your blogs. Always so upbeat and interesting. Regarding England's food reputation. Many years ago my husband was going to Scotland for a month for work. He was dreading the food so literally packed a suitcase full of cheese crackers so he wouldn't starve. After the month he came home five pounds heavier with a suitcase full of cheese crackers. Loved the people. Loved the food.

I am having a rough day and watching all Sharla’s vlogs and it just makes me so relaxed and comforted ❤
So sorry you’re having a bad day🥺 Hope it gets better really soon❤️❤️
So happy the UK treated you right☺️
I'm a bartender in the UK (Glasgow) and I absolutely SWEAR by the Body Shop Hemp Hand Cream!!!! Has saved my hands more times than I can count. From dry/cracked skin from weather or changes in the cleaning chemicals I use at work to times when my hands have an allergic reaction to something (I.e wearing latex gloves in a hospital a few months ago). The stuff is magic and is my go to recommendation to everyone.
Enjoy the rest of your trip! Looking forward to more vlogs xxx
Anyway enjoy!!
I'm English and I've been watching your Japan videos for soooo long, but I'm currently living in Japan so I have to say it was pretty surreal watching you from Japan whilst you're in England haha! I loved the vlog though! I'm glad you're enjoying England so much!
Notification squad! It’s always a good day with a Sharla upload!
I’m so happy you’re having a wonderful trip! ✨
Thanks so much for watching Hannah~!! ❤️❤️
I love watching vlogs of my country through a non-native's POV. It immediately made me appreciate it here even more!
Matthew. 😀
Thank you for showing the Great Britain, Miss Sharla.
Everywhere are fascinating and fancy, as the locals are nice to each other.
Love that you're having such a great time here in the UK. The weather has been changeable but it looks like you've had some of the best of it so far! If you make it there, you'd probably like Brighton. Lots of street art, alternative culture, and there are a lot of boho and vegan places in the lanes. Also, we have a pier and a beach! Hope you enjoy the rest of your trip.
As someone from Devon I really appreciate that you put the clotted cream on your scone before the jam.
11:08 That totally looks like Chris Broad on the left.
I'm trying to talk my husband into moving to England for work. It would be 3-5 years from now so I have time to keep working on him. I'm so happy to see this. You are always so adventurous.
You are spot on. ALWAYS cream before jam.
Got so lucky lol (although its still nice now apart from those 2-3 days of plus 30c!) 😂
really nice to see you ladies enjoying england I hope you have a great rest of your visit
You came at just the right time for the weather! I'm sad my American partner isn't going to be here until October, because I'm sure he'll get the worst of it 😭
So lovely seeing you enjoying the UK ✨ like others have said, us Brits find it hard to appreciate what we have, but there really is so much to see.
I’m glad you enjoyed the UK to its fullest. I am so happy you explored the southern part of the Uk. Definitely come up north for more nature and sites
Now you've seen the South, you need to come up North! Manchester is amazing, the Lake District is stunning and northerners are nice as anything 😁
Great video! I'm looking forward to your next UK video, tentatively titled, "Shopping for a second suitcase in London!!"
It’s so nice to unwind and watch your videos!
These videos are so incredibly, peaceful. The video makes world better. Thank you so much 💙
Girly vibes x999999
I never noticed Chiaki’s English accent until today! Living for this content!!!
Yes for the cream first! My Devonshire heart thanks you haha!
If you’re still in England definitely come to Bath - the most beautiful city (and Britain’s answer to an onsen) 😊
I’m so glad to see you smiling and happy. God bless ya sister
Such a lovely vlog! Hoping we get to see a vloh with you and Chris aswell😊 Betting he is oddly proud of everything there😂👌
I heard great things about England. That is my next bucket list to visit and explore...castles, cottages and gardens. Esp eating Sunday roast . Heard a lot about it. ❤️
It’s midnight where I am but getting the notification that you’d uploaded made me yell “YES!!!”
@@xXNekou what’s bad about or food?
@@xXNekou Most British people don't generally cook ready meals and stuff from the supermarkets, we do home cooked meals - but I agree that the food in other European countries is better 😅 I live up north so we have a lot of Indian/ Pakistani influence and I love it!
The week i visited London, most food were not good. From Nando to small Indian restaurant and fish chops; were forgettable. I did found better food outside of London in York.
@@Oopoop942 it’s bland! Nothing terrible but forgettable.
Glad to see you're spreading the word about Yorkshire Tea ❤️
Sharla, if you want a good cream tea when you get back to Japan - check out “Garage Blue Bell” in Kamakura - we lived in Kamakura for a couple of months in 2019 and this cafe reminded us of home! Very cute cafe - good selection of tea and delicious scones!
I’m so glad you had such a lovely time - as a British person I am so mean about this island but you’ve helped me appreciate it with fresh eyes 🤣
The vlog is really relaxing. I was in London in May and going in August again 😅 to see more plays. Glad you're enjoying your time.
I was actually just looking at tickets to Edinburgh haha
I visited Edinburgh last Christmas, and I loved it ☺️ I loved the atmosphere and the views. I had the delicious black puddings 😋😋😋
I've watched you for years making videos a million miles away in Japan so its so weird (in a good way) to see you suddenly in SE Kent where I've lived my whole life. So glad you seemed to enjoy your visit!
That was lovely - and the weather was so kind to you LOL
The British reputation for bad food really developed in the post-War era when the country was undergoing rationing and the food was pretty bad.
It'll be interesting to see what you make of an Indian (catch-all term for all south Asia) curry.
the beach with colorful little houses looks like the same place as a scene in heartstopper.
If you enjoyed Canterbury, I'd recommend visiting York as that has some beautiful buildings and practically a cafe for everyday of the year ^^
'Ey up! Nice to see Sharla still flying the flag for YORKSHIRE TEA! GET IN!
Hope you plan to come up North while you're here and see where the best brew comes from!
We have nice hills and talk proper.
aah makes me want to travel to the UK so badly. Right place for a Yorkshire tea fanatic
omg I'm so happy for you and Chris :) Love your vlog! lots of love from Vancouver 🇨🇦
England was my first foreign country love when I was little (admittedly probably because of Harry Potter 😂), before I fell in love with Japan, so seeing it through you is making me smile.
Thanks for showing us!
I love all the extra patriotic decor that's up for the Queen's jubilee. Did the celebration affect your travel at all? Loved the video! Looks like a great trip. ☺
Love to see you girls enjoying all them things I enjoy about living in London
Wow the UK seems so lovely! I really want to visit now 💕
So strange seeing a shot of Canterbury where I was born and grew up after watching your videos for years of you in Japan!
I lived in London for several years n whenever my family came to visit from mainland Europe they also said - "I dont understand why the UK has such a bad rep for food! Everything here is delicious!"
N my answer to that would always be "as long as you have the money, you will eat n drink like a royal." The UK has amazing places to eat, but things are usually quite expensive (though it instantly gets cheaper when you're not in london anymore xD )
Hope you'll enjoy the rest of your stay!
Sharla in England is a vibe😎
How funny here I am watching your video in Canada and drinking the toast & jam tea.
I could be totally seeing things but I swear thats Chris Broad walking in front of you at 11:08 as you are walking in the seaside town
Beautiful both of you .so sweet you got food for Maro!! Please film another few videos with both of you and also MARO please!💕💕💕💕💕💕🙏🏼
AS a born and bred brit, Sharmeleon choosing Yorkshire tea is impressive, lass has taste.
Too right!
Wow, Sharla is living the high life in England! I looks like jolly good fun! Wish I was there, but watching your vlogs are the next best thing.
Britain gets a bad reputation but honestly the food in both England and Scotland is good (can't comment on Wales or Northern Ireland since I've never been there but I'm sure it'll be good too!)
omg Sharla you made england look so aesthetic, even if i live here i was watching in awe
I love rainy days in London! (as long as they does not last for so much).
You look so excited and happy! Glad to see you enjoy your stay!
Saludos!
It’s so weird seeing you vlogging places I’ve been loads! I’m in London all the time and I went to Uni in Canterbury for 3 years…
Glad you’ve had some nice weather and a good time!!
Just vlog with Chris already haha but I'm really glad you like the UK 😊
He’s in this video, see if you can find him :P
@@sharlainjapan on the beach in Kent? He's from there so would make sense.
@@sharlainjapan me wonders if thats Chris in front as you walk up Whitstable Beach past P.Cushings (Hail Grand Admiral Tarkin!!") house
@@sharlainjapan just after 11 minutes?
I think I found him! 11:09, 11:24 and is that his arm with the smart watch in 11:43?
Your scar is healing so well! I can barely see if. I’m glad you had a nice trip.
watching this reminds me that I came for Japan, but stayed for Sharla! I could watch you make vlogs anywhere, love you so much!
Ah cool history fact good to know
@@davidordaz5251
A good example of this is cheese - Britain is famous for cheese, rivals France, but under rationing only cheddar was allowed to be made as they had to maximise efficiency
I love this Camera Sharla
Seems that I need to get it too!
It’s pretty good for vlogging! :)
10:45 As a native of Devon, I 100% agree!
It is always the clotted cream before the jam!! That is the Devon way and the only correct way lol
