I spent 4 years in Japan with the United states military. I immediately fell in love with the people and culture. Still fascinated after more than 25 years later. The respect and reverence she shows and the passion for these swords is inspiring and endearing. Thank you so much.
I was lucky enough to learn about this back in 1968-87 period. I got to sit in on lectures and view some very important collections back them. I still have a small group of artifacts laying around. Even though I learned a lot I barely scratched the surface. Have fun learning about the past.
The engraving in that tanto is absolutely incredible! Getting that level of detail carving into steel would be absolutely painstaking and yet delicate, precision work.
As a student of Budo Taijutsu for 25 years I always had a passion for the Japanese sword. As a Christian man I found it pretty awesome she was wearing a cross necklace
Being a Blacksmith, I have always enjoyed seeing and appreciating the craftmanship of Japanese steel. I think that every one of these beautiful specimens has part of the soul of the maker in them. I especially have great regard for Ms. Seshimo for showing the virtue of the Bushido code of "Respect" by bowing to the blade, which it deserves, as she appraises it.
Arigatou gozaimasu. Nihongo benkyoshimasu mada jouzu ja arimasen. I understand Supaingo, Eigo, Portuguese so thank you for the subtitles. I lived for a few months in your Country; is a great place. I remember to went to this famous Katana maker in Kamakura but the workshop was closed. I appreciate the pace, the femininity and style of the Woman in the video too.
Wow. The training of an expert eye. I so admire their culture for the dedication to true craftsmanship. Hold onto it Japan and never let that go. Its a treasure more precious than gold.
What a beautiful world I have entered into since I started to collect Japanese swords [there is just so much to learn and to understand] and a lesson learned "what is most important is to keep it in your memory its all about continuing to remember" thank you for the English subtitles.
Wow this was very inspirational! I've practiced iaido since I was a teen and wondered if there were any woman blacksmiths or arms dealers in Japan. Thank you for this video~
Thank you so much for producing these videos about Japan's rich metallurgical history. I especially like your showcasing of the World of Tantos. Japan looks beautiful!
Great content. Thank you. I have always loved the beauty of the Katana. I am only saddened, by having only handled one, that could be considered "real".
I just came across your channel and I love your videos. They are very informative and I’ve learned a lot of valuable information watching them. Please subtitle more of your videos in English please. As I am a beginning collector and love the learning experience you provide through your videos. Thank you. Warm regards from the State’s.
I read somewhere that as a result of World War 2, there are more Samurai swords in America than in Japan. Many Japanese officers took their family heirlooms with them to war.
Thank you for sharing this part of your culture and history. As Soldier I appreciate the beauty of these weapons, as an artist they are masterpieces! 🙏
These people can actually trace when, who, or where the katana is crafted just by looking at it, they have so much knowledge about these swords, but the learning doesnt stop there.
Hello friends, I do not know your language, but I can understand the videos about your history, but more importantly, the tradition of mutual respect is a tradition that we should emulate. I live in Cambodia and I have practiced karate, your historical sport as well. Nice to meet you, thank you
What a beautiful shop and fascinating video! In my opinion, the Japanese are consistently the best artisans in the world. They take great pride in everything they do, and make. Their handmade items, whatever they are, are among the very best in the world.
I have enjoyed the Tampa sword show. There I held many swords but the real treasure was the old timer dealers with their stories. As they have been dying off, too few are taking their place. I wonder if the China virus has finished it off? Good to see young people take interest!
@@1sigtor Oh, you also like to put labels on peoples. My judgement was based on your saying. Sorry, if it sounded offensive. Your blind admiration about Japan only tells that you know nothing about it.
