Ben Carson: Muslims Aren't Qualified To Be President

  • Ben Carson is a doctor, not a politician. When asked about the importance of faith while seeking the presidency, he sounded more like a pastor. Cenk Uygur, host of the The Young Turks, breaks it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.
"Calls are growing for Republican Ben Carson to quit the 2016 race after he said a Muslim should not be president.
Muslim-American groups, among others, have said these views make him unqualified to run himself.
Mr Carson, a Christian, made the comments on Sunday, adding that Islam was inconsistent with the Constitution.
Another Republican presidential candidate, Bobby Jindal, said on Monday a Muslim president should swear on a Bible to uphold the Constitution.”*

That's because he made his stupid comment and got a lot of media coverage . A candidates polling is tied into how much media coverage they get and that's why candidate's deliberately say stupid shit. That's also why polling is propaganda and doesn't mean shit . Don't buy into it .

Why does Ben Carson always look like he's repulsed by something? Is that his reflection in the camera? He also speaks robotically, as if they're holding his family hostage right there. Jordan Peele would do great justice to this character.

No religion agrees with the constitution. When candidates say that they follow their god first how can they do the job they are seeking? If I was hiring someone for a job and they filled out the application and stated at the end if it agrees with my religion I would have to question the person to see if they were going to be able to do the job if not why would I hire them? If for some reason like federal law was changed and my worker didn't see fit to do their job because this new law was against their religion I would say go through the proper channels to get the law changed and do your job until resolved or put your notice in and I will find someone else to perform the job.

Why can't anyone hear what he says? He said and I quote... if you haven't heard it enough "...If it fits within the realm of the constitution, then I have no problem" and also "I would not ADVOCATE that we put a muslim in charge of this nation..."(two keys to this statement "I" and "would not advocate"
Now tell me again when he says and i'll quote you "No, Muslims should not be allowed to run for office." seriously this is why no one trusts the media. They play to what ever they want to play too and twist and falsify anything they want.
We agree that his beliefs are that Islam does not fit within the realm of the constitution, Okay. However, if you believe that is does.... then ben carson said "I have no problem with it". He gave the reason behind his belief and according to his reason, then you also should have no problem voting for someone that does fit within the realm of the constitution. SO i don't understand what everyone is so angry about.
He also said he wouldn't advocate a christian that wanted to turn the US into a democracy because it doesn't fit within the realm of the constitution...

Every religion is inconsistent with the constitution; you don't have to look much further than the establishment clause. I can't think of a single religious doctrine that doesn't promote the spreading of said religious doctrine or forbid the practice of others; hell, the 10 commandments in Christianity declare "though shalt have no other gods before me". In case you can't tell, that's at odds with the first amendment.
But yeah, no religious test for office. Beliefs have no weight or consequence, only actions.

This makes me so sad. Here is why. When my older sister graduated at the university of Delaware Carson was the guest speaker. I was 13. He was just a Dr back then. And the man had charisma coming out his ass. His true stories of saving and successfully being one of the first surgeons to separate conjoined twins was amazing to me at the time. I remember feeling inspired back then. And now look at him. So sad what he has become. Should have stayed a Dr Ben.

Fundamental to Islam is the support of sharia. This includes discrimination against women and homosexuals, and severe penalties for apostasy against Islam. These principles violate equality under the law, freedom of religion, and freedom of speech.
The Quran clearly endorses the use of force to impose sharia; And historically muslims have obliged. It is very easy to see muslims using the political process to impose these principles, as is now being seen in countries like Denmark. Islam principles are fundamentally opposed to liberty.

The Founding Fathers were aware of the possible divisiveness of religion since many people came to America to avoid religious persecution . They were smart enough to treat religion like a hand grenade . There was a reason they specified that people could have any religion that they wanted or the freedom to have no religion at all . They were certainly aware of Islam . Perhaps they needed to set up a presidential rotation with several different faiths so that Christians , Jews , Buddhists , Hindus , Islamists and Atheists all got a turn in the Oval Office .Its unfortunate that right now we have people like Trump and Carson studying from the Sarah Palin "Book of History " . They refer to the constitution but don`t have a clue what it says or what the intentions really were .

The Council of Islamic-American Relations (CAIR) recently demanded that I withdraw as a candidate for the 2016 presidential race. By doing so, the organization has brazenly violated IRS rules prohibiting tax-exempt nonprofits like CAIR to intervene in a political campaign on behalf of - or in opposition to - a candidate. This is NOT the first time that CAIR has disrespected U.S. law of America. It has previously lost its tax-exempt status by failing to file taxes three years in a row.
It has also been named by federal prosecutors as an unindicted co-conspirator in a criminal conspiracy to funnel money to HAMAS - a terrorist organization. The IRS should immediately revoke CAIR's tax-exempt status!

You are actiually mixing up the question of whether a muslim is allowed to run for office and whether one would vote for a muslim. The latter seems to be a bit unlikely. One would only do that if the alternatives are worse. So it would depend on who the muslim actually was and who his or her main opponent was.

It is a matter that is easily answered by common sense in legal interpretation. If your views are inconsistant with the constitution, incompatible with it, it logically follows that you do not respect the normative foundation of the country and its people. It would be paradoxical to suggest that one could derive authority from the text he himself reprimands.
