We've got one featuring a stage 2 FJ62 with an H55F in it in editing. It will be out in a couple of weeks!

What 5 speed do you use behind the Cummins?

Is there a reason that you don’t use 2UZ-FE V8’s thus keeping it all Toyota ?
I’ve owned a UZJ100 series Land Cruiser since new. It has 215,000 kilometres on the clock. Runs as smoothly as the day I bought it, in 2002.

Did you ever get an answer? I've just join the journey to replace my 3FE on my 89' LC.

Who does your door trims? I'd love a front set for my HJ61. I can't seem to find anyone doing OEM style door trims with electric windows in Australia. Mine is early 1990 HJ61 Sahara. Do you have any factory glass sunroofs for 60/62??

Hi Guys great video... i have a recently reconditioned 1HZ engine sitting in the garage, and a 88 FJ62 (3F petrol that is a bit tired and unreliable). Any comment on the viability of transplanting the 1HZ into this FJ62? Any pitfalls I should look out for? Some forums say its not worth it, and I should rather put the 1HZ in a diesel vehicle rather than try convert the petrol.

This is why my FJ62 has not moved in 11 years. Hopefully, all it really NEEDS is a functioning head gasket. But for an engine that will struggle to hold 50mph on a highway grade, coupled with MAYBE 10mpg fuel economy... I just haven't had the heart. I keep changing my mind about replacements. The Cummins 2.8 seems like a dream engine for a 40 series. But for a FJ62 with a rooftop tent plus whatever, seems like a Cummins I6 follow up to the 2.8 would be ideal? How would you describe the performance of the R2.8 to the 3FE? Seat of the pants wise?

I love the 3FE, especially with an H55F behind it, but the R2.8 is far superior for power and capacity, especially in the mountains.

@@procruiser the H55 was another consideration. But... I've gotten soft in my old age and really like the smoothness and convenience of an auto. Everything is a tradeoff...

There is nothing more I despise more than an LS swap going into a Toyota! Why not the 5.7 iForce, or other Toyota options? I am also okay with the Cummins 2.8 for fuel economy and torque.

Toyota must to be Toyota.. Show me a Chevy or Ford with Honda or Mitsubishi engine..that day I will accept the conversion..

Well, in reality lots of OEMs use other manufacturers engines in their cars. The most recent example I can think of is the Subaru BRZ cylinder in the Toyota GT86. Diahatsu used to use Toyota engines, Mercedes engines are in lots of other OEMs. But I definitely get your point, changing out the engine in a Toyota Land Cruiser does take away Toyota DNA. There are some models / years where we would never recommend or perform an engine conversion.
