- In which I cover three really delightful RPGs that present themselves well, have great ideas, and are just exactly the sort of thing I like! Here's where you can get them:
Stealing the Soul: A Game of Wonder -

Shadow and Fae 2e -

Music from some great old games (LotR2, LoM, 7K2:TFW, and G:DL) - Ігри
Hey! I recognize the soundtrack! Its the Town/World soundtrack for Lords of the Realm 2. Loved that game, and really wish I could get it to run on more modern machines so I could keep playing it.
I had that same problem - got it on GOG and can't run it on anything. :(
Love S&F 2e, great creative inspiration.
some great looks here! i discovered rogueland years ago when i first needed an alternative to 5e. to this day, i often come back to it, and think, it's the only game i may need! it's an excellent soloist game book too. the first two books look really neat.
I'm really loving it right now! Something about the simplicity of it really appeals to me at this moment.
Wow. This was a great video. Thank you. I don't GM DnD so I don't even have to steal this. I can play it as is.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for doing what you do.
My pleasure!
Great suggestions! Shadow & Fae (that I just downloaded now) will be a great source of inspiration. I find that Cairn was a bit, uhm, sterile by itself, but S&F seems to have great flavor while staying simple. I'll have to see how compatible it is with the suggested adventures. Thank you.
I'm really psyched for Cairn 2e, as I think they went all out with the flavor!
Here is a soulless comment for the algorithm
Well, the algorithm cares not for souls - only the body. :D
Very cool
I would be really interested to see your opinion of Cairn! It's free if that helps. A 20 page rpg
I'll probably go through it one of these days! I kickstarted Cairn 2e, so I'll try to do it before that comes out. Fortunately, that gives me about 9 months. :)
@@RedMageGM looking forward to it

similar to my own game,, :)
Which one? Or all three?
@@RedMageGM in essence all 3 as ive developed my own mechanics for combat so ive borrowed from many indie games, mostly Knave and ICRPG...but still keep a dnd -ish flavour to my game.
Sounds like a great system - I love the blended games GMs end up with after years of playing. It's one of my favorite aspects of the hobby!
@@RedMageGM for sure, as im only back into the hobby since 2020, theres so much to re learn but as im also older than dirt i decided well ill create my own that i can follow easier than 5e and well we play weekly and im having fun so thats all that matters i guess. Do enjoy your vids bud.
UA-cam Algorithm ❤️
Yesss! :D
I used to type that. But I think the algorithm filters out comments like that…
So I just drop an emoji.
Or use Innuendo like “here to feed the beast” or something like that.
Do you know any good fantasy greek or roman inspired supplements?
I really love Agon, but that's a full game and very different than most other rpgs. Still, it's a great take on Greek Mythology and running games with the vibe of the Odyssey. I have Mazes and Minotaurs, but I've never really gone through it in detail so I can't recommend it.
@@RedMageGM Thanks a ton, will check out what I can gleen from Agon. Been in a massive Odyssey obsession as of late and need a fix XD
I have a review of it, if you want to check it out! One of my least viewed reviews! :D
Maybe not the answer you’re looking for but the Shadowdark GM QuickStart has an adventure at the back inspired by the Minoan Labyrinth.
Cursed Scroll 3 is Viking/Norse Based but could work as a great template for “color swapping”.
That’s the first thing I thought since the sea wolf class gave me more Spartan vibes than it did Viking vibes, and there’s stuff in there about the gods and mechanical oaths, and Odin, Freya, Loki could easily be Zeus, Hera/Athena, Aries/Hades
