In an earlier demo there was a boss blind preventing you from playing 5 cards, that would do the trick

Tbh his build simply wasnt strong enough. He did his best hand (the only one with a stone card) and wasnt close enough
@@tsawy6 it wouldn't have been enough, but he also tossed all of his mult cards with that hand, while letting a basic queen be the scoring card. The entirety of that level/round was a catastrophic cascade of mistakes and nonsense decisions. He refused to improve the support for his build, yolo'd the boss and then completely forgot how to play the game.
The title is a reference to the famous balatro band Pair Or More

Oh man, I actually did this for an NL game before, I can't remember what it was but it worked great. Could still follow the game enough to understand what was happening and what he was talking about, but couldn't play along or criticize.
Watching NL has made me realize the danger of the misprint. Obviously you recognize that the mult is random when you add it to your deck, and it’s a nice starter joker, but after a few rounds you kinda just forget about it, and it totally fucks with your ability to estimate how many chips any given hand will score, leading to underestimating good hands and overestimating bad hands.

It's completely a skill issue. You can just ballpark the math yourself and get the feeling back

I had a fibonacci run and I got so lucky, I got a four finger plus even Steven plus hack in a bufoon pack,then I got a polychrome fib after skipping a blind, sold four fingers and evens to get exactly enough money to buy it. Then I got invisible joker, copied the fib and popped off for the rest of the run with those 3 jokers. Then I ended with a throwback with 2x mult and a baseball joker (I forgot the name) and ended up with a 300000 point hand. Twas truly insane
@@Qyubij Fibonacci and Hack goes crazy. I tried to get a run going with Hack and a polychrome glass 2, but got too greedy trying to save and copy it so I lost.

I had a dual Green Joker/Ramen run myself. I got two ramens with an invisible joker, played a billion hands to upgrade Green Joker, and picked up a Banner near the end. I ended up with ~35 on the green, it was great.

This version of the demo really rewards flushes. The full game will dedfinitely have more variance when it comes to that sort of thing.
You can do a high card build but you threw it by investing all your other celestial cards into small hands. Why play a pair thats basically the same as your high card when you could've spent the celestials on a big hand that you fish for by using high card to discard. Like if you just put your other celestial cards into like full house or flushes, you'd have at least a potential for a high scoring hand

Whether or not it works out, high card build is poggy to the moon. Very fun style of play
I think it works pretty well, but you probably also have to level up higher-scoring hands like flushes. NL kept buffing 2-pair even though it scored less than high card lmao
@garysteyn1039 with a Tarot-build you can go for stone and steel cards. And there are plenty of jokers to enable it further, such as the one that gives extra chips for remaining discards. Fun to play around!
probably works when you dont spend the entire run buffing high card just to play three level 1 flushes and a straight on the boss blind

Hey NL, here's a min/max tip for you on Blind 1 - if you can get a Full House with a number total of 35 or higher, you will win on the first hand, often saving at least $1. This also puts you at $10 so in the range for an extra interest!
can also fish for a high straight or flush but full house is way more reliable

@@Qyubij so we know it's intended? Cuz it doesn't make logical sense to me that it'd work as all suits at the same time essentially. I'd imagine it more as if it were a version of the stone card but with a rank attached to it (as opposed to the stone buffs)

Videos come out 4 minutes shorter?! You trying to short change me on my entertainment, Letourneau?! First you talk about taking 4 minutes from my Balatro videos, and before you know you're taking an Ant into round 12 of a SAP battle just so you can save the extra .25 seconds off the victory animation at the end because the losing animation is shorter. Compound this over the course of a few years and suddenly my Balatro videos are 25 minutes long instead of 30! I couldn't think of a proper ending to this bit, sorry, so I'ma just leave it there.

Funny run I had yesterday I stacked two double tags and used them on high card +3 so I instantly got level 13 high card and easily swept
