Girl, I live in Seattle, you made the right decision not to walk to Whole Foods alone in the morning. We are so sad about losing our city to drugs and homeless. It’s heartbreaking.
I appreciate very much that you bring the atmosphere of the reality in Seattle. It's a little bit comforting to know that we all go through unpleasant circumstances in this crazy world that we living in, that we are not alone in dealing with craziness.
ALWAYS trust your gut. It will never steer you wrong. I'm so glad you are safe. I'm sorry this particular trip was disappointing. You have a good, positive attitude and this is a reminder to the rest of us when we have things bad interactions with grumpy people.
I really enjoyed your perspectives! I know well all of the cities you mentioned. In Seattle, I like Queen Anne, Fremont and Greenwood, the area around Green Lake, Georgetown, plus Alki Beach in West Seattle. A ferry over to Bainbridge Island is a lot of fun and very safe there. The rise in street crime, drugs etc has completely changed the metro PNW experience for me, which used to feel more relaxed and small town. I gravitate to the smaller cities and towns now. The passive aggression and rudeness is also very real AKA “The Seattle Freeze.” In fact, there’s even an ice cream shop called that! 😂 I’m also a big fan of the glass work! Thanks and happy trails!
As a San Franciscan I'm so happy we win the best "crazy" city race; just kidding Portland and Seattle, I love you guys. Vera, I've noticed you often show dahlias in your videos, did you know that Golden Gate Park has a dahlia garden with over 700 varieties of dahlias? They're blooming through September, maybe an outing if you get a trip here.
Vera. You are a much better person than I am. You have a great outlook on life because if that would have been me and I would’ve had that experience, it would have been a totally different outcome. I don’t have the time or the patience to deal with nasty people. If they hate their life, that’s their problem, don’t make it mine. Props to you!
I grew up in Kent. Lived in the South Seattle area suburbs until about 15yrs ago & moved to Bellingham area. I worked downtown Seattle for yrs. Now...... Unfortunately from Everett to Tacoma has turned into a crime, drug filled region 😢😡 I'm sad & mad! As a State, We are sooooo lenient on crime!!!!! Customer service seems to be a thing if they pass everywhere. I miss the Seattle area I grew up in 😢💔 Very sorry for your bad experience. I just subscribed. I enjoyed your video.
I used to love Seattle. It’s sad to see what’s it’s become. I know it definitely got bad post pandemic and probably won’t change because of the politics of it all. Sorry to see a beautiful city ruined 😿
Thanks for the video. I've lived in the greater Seattle area for over 40 years. I worked downtown for decades and was in love with it. One of the reasons was that it was a little gritty, but I never felt unsafe. That started to change about ten years ago. I was curious to hear about your experiences as a professional in the travel business. There has been a lot of hype from the city about how things have turned the corner. It doesn't sound like we are there yet. It doesn't help that Seattle has priced middle class residents out of living here. It has become a land of extremes, either you can afford to pay thousands per month in rent or you're homeless. The exception are those of us who bought homes decades ago. I fear we'll be taxed out of our houses eventually.
I love longer vlogs. I just have to make sure I have enough time to watch it all the way through. Sometimes I start a video and stop halfway through and finish it later.
After living in Seattle for about 10 months, it's safe to say I have no desire to repeat any of that experience. There have been four occasions I have used that transit point SEA, when flying to/from Seoul/ICN, and each airport experience felt murky, grim, lackluster and depressing compared to the shiny and sparkly airport experience in Korea. I just can't get that dark and rainy, "monsoon" word associations/descriptions when Seattle comes to mind. However, I have to admit that I am willing to give it ONE.last.chance 😂 because I have enjoyed your collection of Bellevue/Seattle layovers and the art museum segment was very interesting to watch, too. Thank you for taking the time and care in making these videos and keep up the great work... stay true to you and best wishes for pleasant and enjoyable flying, too! ✨🤗✨🙂✨🙏✨👍✨🙂↕️✨
Girllll! YT stopped suggesting your vids to me, so I fell off, but I found my way back! Love your vlogs & energy. So happy to have found your vids again!
@@BalancedFlyer you knowwww I already am 😉 gotta support my fav UA-camrs! I just don’t check my subscription box the way I should 😂😂 but on the real, more people need to subscribe bc you deserve more, fr!
Great vlog. Definitely prefer you talking rather than music. Unfortunately there are many people in this world that hate themselves enough to inflict that hate to others. I experienced the same treatment while in Italy. What has happened to customer service! The nicer I was didn’t matter. Hold your head up high. You are a good person. 🌺
I think the experience of staying in Bellevue is so different and safer feeling and still has a lot of cute coffee shops and pretty parks/places to walk. I’d recommend picking up the trips in that hotel. There’s a beautiful lake for paddle boarding and just sitting on dock and a small swimming area too
😭😭loooove your videos SO much! I'm so sorry for the rude people you experienced in Seattle, as you said their day is way worse for trying to bring you down. tbh, I feel the west coast has more agitated people... I haven't put my finger on it exactly but I had a Vancouver layover the other day and this biker absolutely LOST IT screaming and swearing at the driver ahead of him for simply taking a second before he turned. Who knows, maybe he was looking for the biker for HIS safety! Maybe I just forgive east coasters for rudeness because it's where I'm from but I swear the west coast is more aggressive. It's like scary...LOL! Glad you made the most of the layover anyways! Love you!!
Great vlog, I enjoyed it. Downtown layovers in general are dead to me. I’d rather be elsewhere where I don’t fear for my life. I’m glad you were cautious. Crazy days!
Hello Vera, first time watching one of your videos. First, I live north of Seattle and I dont go there if i dont have to. I travel 2-3 weeks out of the month for work and when I meet people around the country and they show interest in going to Seattle for vacation I tell them don't go. Oh and I love Din Tai Fung also.
Love to follow you on your layovers. Thank you for sharing it all, the fun, the good, the goodies and the not so good. Yeah, stuff happens and we need to deal with it. Also love the Merit serum, game changer!
I worked downtown for many decades and there has been a palpable increase in crimeover the last 6 or 7 years. Always trust your instincts - nearly everyone in my office had an encounter ranging from an assault to theft. Our police levels have declined to 1951 levels per a recent news report and if you walk, try to stay close to 5th. Avenue).
My husband left Seattle Police Dept in January 2021. We moved out of WA. Lots of other cops left, too. Now even with a $30,000 signing bonus, Seattle Police Dept is struggling to find anyone to hire bc it’s such a shit hole city. We’re so glad we left.
Vera, I would have flipped him off with his staring ass. 😂 But I’m proud of how you handled it. The cities are changing and you need to change with it. Walking alone is something you can’t do anymore. Stay safe 🙏🏻
Have you ever tried Molly Moons Ice Cream 🍦? There's one around the block from Kerry Park. A friend took me there, & it was awesome eating ice cream, while enjoying the view !
Oh my dear Vera, I'm so sorry that you went thru that experience. What a horrible person 😖.The world is walking around so wired, you are too sweet and beautiful to be treated like that, we all are!😂 Us SF folks, even our homeless, love our visitors, always welcomed to enjoy the beauty of the Bay Area!❤Thank you Vera for another great vlog and I'm always hoping to bump into you at MyMy's, Angelina Jolie and I that is!😂😅🤣😻 Stay safe dear Vera, no matter how bad people are, you are a classy, respectful and a decent human being. Neve change! Bless you my dear❤🤗.
Great video - sorry for the bad experience you had with that miserable person. My wife and I have been watching your videos from Germany, where we lived the past 5 years. She is a former flight attendant for Qatar. We just moved to SC. Great content!
My daughter moved from Los Angeles (LA) to Seattle a year ago for a new job and regrets it. She said she could go to music shows and hole-in-the wall, but excellent restaurants in LA in supposedly sketchy areas and felt safe, and was safe. In the Capitol Hill area where she lives in Seattle, she cannot go to the grocery store across from where she lives without being confronted by houseless, drug addled or mentally ill people. She said people who know about Seattle warned her about the personalities of many of the local (HOUSED) people as in service workers or people at the gym, etc., and the term Seattle Freeze, as in to expect RUDENESS. She said Seattle is about 10 years behind LA regarding style, food, etc. and the residents have no stance to be cocky and RUDE. I told her the rude people are probably a combination of rude people who move there and some locals who are rude, not solely natives to Seattle.
If you ever get a chance and have time to do so, check out the Eastside. Bellevue and Kirkland have lots of good places to eat and the vibe is diametrically opposite to Seattle. I haven't been to downtown since probably before 2019 - I avoid it like the plague.
@@BalancedFlyer I'm glad you're enjoying it! Woodinville is not too far away and its wine country! Should be a short trip on the 405 but backroads will also get you there too.
I love the art glass blowing too. We have a fantastic local studio, Blind Bird Designs, I save to buy their pieces but I absolutely love their work. Enjoy your vlogs.

Great video, Vera!! Next time you are in Seattle, if you havent been already, The Walrus &The Carpenter and Ciudad are amazing!! Love ARMRA! I notced that you added it to your coffee. Not sure if it was hot or cold, but just a head ups, ARMRA isn't supposed to go into hot bevereages as the heat can disrupt its nutritional value. I learned the hard way!
Same here! I forgot and was adding it to warm but I only put it in cold now! I need to check out the walrus and the carpenter! Turns out we got some more layovers for fall so maybe I’ll head back!
😅love your videos just keep talking sweetie I love that. Stay safe out there hopefully when you go back to Seattle you have a better experience. Have a Happy Labor day.
Vera! There was a big article in the Seattle Times just a few days ago about restaurant delivery fees ! As a Seattle resident I can honestly say that I have not experienced that kind of rudeness by waitstaff in YEARS! People are genuinely pretty pleasant- I’m sorry you had such a less than great trip to Seattle.
They pay a living wage for Uber and DoorDash drivers, we have a law in city limits of Seattle here. I absolutely love Seattle, being a 30 year old girl, if you say hi to people and don’t avoid eye contact people will talk and be super kind. Even the homeless are super nice. They are just so use to people being rude to them which is so sad. I have never once felt unsafe in Seattle.
yes, i agree with everything you said. the aggressive nature of the unhoused are something i didn't experience when i used to live in nyc or dc. my husband and i rarely go downtown here (we have lived here for 3.5 yrs now). it's very sad to see and i hope the city can figure out a way to help them.
Hi Vera! Loyal follower of yours based here in Seattle. I’m not native to the city, I moved from Santa Fe, NM about a month ago (lived in DC before that) and yes you’re right-people here are rude and seem to have a stick up their you know what. Seattle is by far the least friendly city I’ve experienced. I don’t expect people to be best friends with everyone they meet, but basic niceties go a long way. Simple things like greeting customers when they enter a shop, smiling when taking someone’s coffee order at checkout, or saying hello to your neighbors-not random strangers-make a difference. It’s also courteous to say “excuse me” if you’re encroaching on someone else’s space. I’ve noticed that these basic interactions seem difficult for people. Also, Seattle, while geographically pretty, is dirty. Graffiti and trash everywhere! This coming from a region that prides itself on its natural environment. My partner and I are regretting our move here and are saying we should have moved to San Francisco, a favorite of yours, instead. San Francisco gets a bad rep but I find the city to be more dynamic, friendly, and just as pretty. Ugh! I’m getting sad as I type this. Anyway loved the vlog blog as usual 😭
It’s such a shame because both Seattle and Portland used to be such great cities even about less than 10 years ago. Something definitely happened to these two cities during Covid and now I’m just not sure I would feel comfortable going back. 🍁🍁🍁
Dang I’m really sorry you’re going through it living in Seattle. I’ve watched the change over the past decade as well and it’s heart breaking because it’s truly such a beautiful area. I’ll still try to make the best of it while I’m there but also be honest about my full experience.
Well then I hope you'll make some move to San Francisco I don't understand why you would have moved to Seattle if you could have afforded to live in San Francisco? Personally I think San Francisco's just as much of a s*** hole as Seattle and the reason why Seattle's now is s*** holes because they try to model themselves after San Francisco. I moved here 91 cuz I couldn't afford to live in San Francisco.😂😂.
Hi Vera!! The flowers at the market were beautiful! Stay safe and thanks for sharing 💕Have you done an updated makeup GRWM and I missed it? Could you PLEASE send me a list of your makeup and brushes you use? Thanks
Next time go to The Museum of history and Industry. Fun stuff about Seattle. It is on Lake Union. Not too far from downtown and safe place to walk. We do have a real drug and homeless population.
If you ever come back you should visit Tacoma instead! I've lived in Seattle suburbs my whole life and these last few years its gotten really rough downtown.
Vera, I am a 64 year old male, oh new subscriber here! I love your videos and I envy your travels, lol, I’m sorry you had some a holes, you had to deal with in Seattle, you ever go up in the Space Needle? I do enjoy your videos, looking forward to more. ✌️
Hello Vera this is your first video I watched it was good very informative I'm sorry you had that bad experience but I'm not surprised I'll be looking forward to watching more of you,,,, Have a great time 🙏
Next time go to glass blowing class on 5th avenue. And yes, Seattle esp downtown core has gotten worse. Next time take water taxi to west Seattle and take the shuttle to the dining core of Alki like Duke's, Cactus, Spuds. Walk toward lighthouse and back. You can long walk back to Sally's which is a great place for HH and they may be able to shuttle you back to downtown with their town car or take water taxi back. It's better to go to 1 neighborhood and save the uber $. Or get orca card and go to south lake Union or Ballard or capital hill like you wanted to.
It's the weather, we are over the heat 😂 and ready for the rain. What is freeze weather for you? It's been 60-80F in Seattle and throughout the day it gets hot. It hasn't been cold for long. Also sorry you had some bad experiences with some people, we are not all bad. Keep shining ❤
But 80 isn’t that hot 😭. I guess growing up in the south I’m used to it and it not affecting people that much. But it’s okay it didn’t scare me away forever!
Greetings from London. This was my first visit to your channel. I loved that there was a bit of culture here. Unlike some other FA vlogs. So you are Boston based? Or SF ? How long have you been a FA ?
Hi Vera! You mentioned in one of your recent videos you use a beef tallow moisturizer. What brand do you recommend? Ive been trying to go back and find the video you mentioned it. Love the vlog as always!
I go to Seattle a few times a year and I definitely understand the vibes around pike place. Honestly, I avoid it. I prefer cap hill or other areas. But crime has gotten really terrible. I find staying just out the city much better, and so fun! Try going on the ferry next time over to bainbridge island if you have time! Such a fun experience. Great restaurants as well over there. Also Ubers there are the most expensive in the city, maybe bike? It’s a very bike friendly city!
I went to Bainbridge on my next layover!! That’ll be on my upcoming vlog I loved it. I also love Capitol Hill! I’m sad I didn’t get over there this year
Hi Vera, im so sorry that you were on the receiving end of other people's rude behaviour. I felt for you. I always look forward to seeing your videos and I loved this chatty one! You are so real and relatable. I'm from South Africa and we pronounce it "leechee", not "laychee" 😂 Lots of love, Nic - Cape Town.
Oh, I know that guy. The sandwich is great but that guy is not friendly and shouldn't be serving customers. Be sure to leave a review in Google maps, the place should address that.
LOL wait I am so happy I watched this video- I traveled to both Seattle and San Francisco this summer and (from other opinions) expected San Fran to be 100% worse. I felt so much safer in San Fran then I ever did in Downtown Seattle. I also was turned off from the amount of drugs and behavior from people around the city. Of course with every big city, you would expect somewhat of that behavior (especially being on the west coast lmfao) but Seattle was appalling- so much so I told my family I would be completely fine with never visiting Seattle again. If I had it over, I would've stayed in the national park areas more or far from Seattle. Staying near Pike Place was a mistake. As I type this comment out things are resurfacing to my memory. Ill conclude with saying that I remember parking the car and looking under the tire to see human feces underneath our parked car. No ma'am.
Yikes! Yeah the surrounding area is incredible I love the parks and suburbs outside of Seattle. The downtown area just isn’t really the vibe unless you have friends with you and can focus on the good even though the bad is unavoidable now :/
I've been a Seattle resident now for about 35 years I used to love to go downtown it was a beautiful place to hang out have a beer and some good food watch a concert but I don't go down there anymore there's so many rude people and weird people I'm so sorry that you had this bad experience,,,, Seattle has changed for the WORSE!!!
Bingo. I'll go down for an occasional concert when I absolutely have to. I go in there like it is a military drill. I'm very strategic about where I park how far I have to walk to get to the venue and back. I leave early. Make a straight b line for that freeway to get the hell out of there as fast as possible!!
Thank you so much for doing your make up. I honestly don't know how to make my make look good. And there are so many different products and things out there that I'm really unsure of. And I used to be a server and wanted to say that, that was unacceptable of him to act that way!!! UNACCEPTABLE!! And I'm sure he treats coworkers the same way. At least you don't have to work with him 😅 ❤
As a Seattle person I'm so sorry about the horrible experience you had with the rude restaurant person. I'm interested in where it was -- bc if it was one of Tom Douglas' restaurants, he'd want to know. As for the Whole Foods, I don't get why the city police have decided it's ok to allow the crap that goes on downtown. Sometime take an Uber to West Seattle -- or you can walk down the waterfront to the Water Taxi, take the taxi to West Seattle and enjoy the absolute best fish and chips at Marination Makai on the water. If you're adventurous you can rent a kayak or a paddle board down there :) ... or walk walk walk the water front across the bay from the main city. Eventually you come to sandy beaches and more restaurants, coffee and boba places. If you venture into downtown West Seattle (called the Junction) there are lots of shops and one of the best record stores around, crazy good donut shops and vintage stores. It's sweet over here. Thanks for showing people our beautiful city and I'm going to forward your video to the mayor & city council people. Come back soon.
As someone who is in major cities everywhere, all the time, it is bad. To say it isn’t is turning a blind eye to a very serious problem. Don’t normalize it. I still love Seattle and o haven’t written it off but I will call a spade a spade.
There is no excuse for that kind of attitude toward a customer. Having a bad day(?), keep it to yourself, and do your job and lose the attitude. I most certainly would have said something to the manager.
So sorry Vera you had to experience such poor appalling obnoxious service during your stay in Seattle. So wrong. Food costs have gone thru the roof but the quality and service are worse or same. Does not add up. Same in Australia too.
I am so sorry people are so rude and disrespectful sometimes and need to respect people and boundaries ✈️🍃🎃🎃🍃🍁👻👻👻✈️🍃🎃🎃🍂🍂🍂🎃🍃🍁👻🍂🍂🍂🍂🎃🎃✈️🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🎃🍃✈️✈️👻👻👻👻👻🍁🍃🎃🎃🍂🍂🍂🍂🎃✈️✈️👻
Downtown Seattle used to be a fun place to hang out but now it's unsafe and it's sad. The South Lake Union area where the Amazon spheres are is a lot safer, plus Bellevue is a nice place to hang out and safe too. I was actually inside the Chipotle on 3rd and Pike when there was a shooting that happened outside and ever since then I have been afraid of Downtown Seattle. Pioneer Square just south of downtown is also a bit safer too. Bottom line: it's just the center of the city (Pike/Pine area) that's unsafe but everywhere else in the city is safer than that including the Pike Place Market itself. Go to Jack's Fish Spot next time you're in Seattle, their customer service is great! What that guy did was mean but at the same time food service is a hard industry to work in. The City of Seattle implemented a surcharge on all food delivery orders, and it has resulted in not as many people ordering delivery and drivers getting less orders and ultimately being paid less. It's ironic because it was supposed to help delivery drivers get paid more but it ended up doing the opposite. As a local I know pretty much all the tea behind everything going on in this city, and I hope this answers some of your questions!
Thank you! I went to the South Lake Union area and loved it! I put it in my last vlog actually. I will say though about your comment regarding the rude guy, there is no excuse for his behavior whatsoever. I worked in the service industry for 5 years before I was a flight attendant as a waitress in a very busy high stress restaurant and I never yelled at and tried to belittle a customer like that. Let alone kick a door in their face. Even on my worst days I treated people with respect. Being a flight attendant has even worse days because you cant escape or hide from a terrible situation or day and you still have to do your job with integrity. So I disagree with the food industry being hard as a good enough excuse because it isn't that hard. They weren't even busy and he had just showed up to work.
@@BalancedFlyer Yes I agree that the food industry being hard is not a good enough excuse for your situation, especially given that they weren’t busy at all and the guy had just shown up to work. It sounds like he was just extremely unhappy with his job and or his life. To be honest if you’re so unhappy with your job to the point where it drives you to yell at customers like that it’s a major sign to quit and find another job that you like or are treated better at.
LONG COMMENT, sorry! I'm from Seattle, so I have lots to say 😆😆😆 WOW that is AWFUL! So sorry you had that experience!! I would've cried on the spot. I've lived in the Seattle area for 35 years and unfortunately, people are super rude here. I hate admitting that. Maybe the lack of Vitamin D? IDK. I just went o Pike Place yesterday with my husband for a "Tourist Day" (and currently editing my own vlog about it) and we went to the Alibi Room (never been). They were severely understaffed, friendly, but understaffed, especially being a holiday weekend. We were seated quickly but waited a solid 20 minutes before we were approached at our table to even get water. I know, it's a holiday weekend and it was super busy, and I had my camera out on the table trying to get content, so maybe I wasn't the most approachable (but I also wasn't a distraction), but still.... (The pizza was delicious (and the Apple & Brie was a 10/10) and I would still recommend trying this place if you're looking for something in a historic building, and it's right next to the Gum Wall!) Also, the Seattle Din Tai Fung in Pacific Place by Nordstrom is the best one in this state because of the location and views! I also just went there and vlogged it LOL! UPDATE to add: Everything is stupid expensive here. And Uber/Lyft fluctuates with the time of day. I don't know what day you were here but I bet the ride home was more expensive because it was late at night and the "club" crowds tend to use Uber to go to the bars and clubs these days. I live a little further north of Seattle and it's much safer and more friendly up here lol. The homeless and drug abuse is a huge problem in Seattle, though. In fact, when I was driving through yesterday there is a whole area that you should avoid because of the drug use and homelessness - all the streets near the convention center, specifically the blocks between 1st - 5th and Pike, Pine and Union. (You basically said this in your video, lol) I couldn't believe what I saw and also remember why I rarely go downtown anymore. It's super sad, Seattle is so beautiful and the history.... So much history. Also, the rooftop bar at the hotel you are at is BEAUTIFUL! (The Nest) Definitely do it next time (if you decided to come back, lol) Also - I just clicked on your video and subscribed - many of the things you were talking about I also love (Chihuly, glass blowing, boba, agree about Seattle, lol) - good vibes! Definitely looking forward to the next vlog! Sorry for the long comment! XOXO Katie
Wow thank you!!! This was so reassuring coming from a local! I’m glad most of you aren’t getting offended and understanding that while Seattle is an amazing city there’s a serious problem. I still will find ways to enjoy it safely as I see you do too. I MUST got to the Din Tai Fung now!! Thank you for taking the time to write everything out I appreciate it.
I thought it was me- hard to make friends when I first moved here. It really shakes people’s confidence. But I read a lot of history of the area and there were a lot of Swedes and Norwegians- they really put their stamp on the atmosphere. And I swear it’s contagious😆. This is why I had lots of parties. Guests would say how fun it was but never thought of having parties themselves. There is a weird magical place called the Quarterdeck in the marina of Des Moines, not far from the airport. Coffee, beer, wine. Live music sometimes, trivia nights, outdoor tent, deck. People actually talk to strangers, introduce people to each other. Dogs and children welcome. It’s our version of Cheers. People will start to know your name and your dog’s name even if you’ve been gone for a month. I’ve talked to people from all over the world- i suppose because it’s so close to Seatac-I get to practice all the languages I study on Duolingo. I used to do glassblowing at a studio in the industrial area south of the airport- then the cost of the fuel got so high. You should look for some classes. UA-cam put you in the feed today- that’s why I clicked.
Please taking a buddy with you when you go out anymore! People arent what they used to be. Theyve gone nuts. Its all over now. The new normal, as its said.
I was born and raised in Seattle I left many years ago…Thank goodness. Unfortunately it’s been trashed and taken over by the homeless & drug attics just in general people who are up to no good. Sorry you had a bad experience. We go over and visit family & friends we enjoy our short weekends there but are so happy we don’t live there anymore.
Good stay away and don't come back when it gets better. Maybe you could have stayed and fought for your city! This is where I was born and lived my whole life. I wouldn't abandon it. WA state is beautiful. Lots more to WA than Seattle.
How are you fighting for Seattle? By electing extreme liberals, that propagated this mess? I love Wa., and the PNW, but Seattle has become a miserable hole, and it won't change anytime soon..
Yeah I try to be honest, I always want to show the highlights of a city but I won’t pretend what’s there isn’t. I’m going to be honest about it all.
I lived in Seattle for ten years, UW alumni...Seattle after 2013 is a different place, it is a cesspool now.
Sadly true 😢💔
It gets worse all the time. My first visit was in 2001. Night and day difference. Many areas I used to go to regularly I’ll never visit again.
@@glicmathan1771 Do you still live there? We used to call Aurora Ave "Ho-rora" as a joke...its no longer a joke.
ALWAYS trust your gut. It will never steer you wrong. I'm so glad you are safe. I'm sorry this particular trip was disappointing. You have a good, positive attitude and this is a reminder to the rest of us when we have things bad interactions with grumpy people.

Aww thank you!!!
Same here, mine also.
You are the bigger and better person for not reacting to his uncomfortable behavior
I tried 😖
The music in the early part of the video had a 80’s sound to it that I liked. You did the right thing by ignoring the sour grapes.
i live in seattle and you are right on! i love seattle but its super expensive and super dangerous. saddened by your negative experience
I love doing things myself once awhile and this video just shows WHY I do things by myself…😊

Good to know!
I just clicked, 39 minutes...I am so happy! Thank you. Making tea and looking forward to watching this vlog. Thank you!
Yay! Thank you!
I miss the Seattle area I grew up in 😢💔
Very sorry for your bad experience.
I just subscribed.
I enjoyed your video.
Thank you for subscribing and saying hello! Yeah I’m really hoping maybe something turns around for Seattle 🩷
Even Bellingham has gotten worse over the years, though still better than the big metro areas.
I used to love Seattle. It’s sad to see what’s it’s become. I know it definitely got bad post pandemic and probably won’t change because of the politics of it all. Sorry to see a beautiful city ruined 😿
It’s sucks I’m really hoping for a miracle I hate to see a beautiful city slowly deteriorate
I do the same!

My favorite part ☺️
Hi Vera,
Love your vlogs. Thanks for taking us along to your workplaces. I love your content.
Be safe always 🌷
Thank you so much!
I enjoyed the longer chit chat❣️❤️ it’s sad Seattle was not safe! I’m glad nothing bad happened to you Vera❣️❤🥰
I’m glad you liked the longer vlog!
There’s a beautiful lake for paddle boarding and just sitting on dock and a small swimming area too
Yes! The majority of my vlogs this summer are actually in Bellevue! Love the lake there
@@BalancedFlyer maybe sometime you can also give Kirkland a try
You will have an awesome week!
You too!!
Oh that’s kinda sad ☹️ I still think the city has a lot to offer! You just have to be cautious like most cities I guess
I lived in Redmond and never go to downtown Seattle !
I love hearing you talk
Love to follow you on your layovers. Thank you for sharing it all, the fun, the good, the goodies and the not so good. Yeah, stuff happens and we need to deal with it. Also love the Merit serum, game changer!
I looove the merit serum I’m glad you like it too!! Yeah I’ll always be transparent about the full experience. The good and the bad.
Avenue).
Wow that’s really upsetting that it’s so common for people just trying to get to work downtown. Thank you for the tip about 5th ave
I had so many things go through my head but I was trying to stay calm 😭
As a Seattleite: we have had many days in the 75-80 range this past summer. You have been unfortunate with the weather.
Have you ever tried Molly Moons Ice Cream 🍦? There's one around the block from Kerry Park. A friend took me there, & it was awesome eating ice cream, while enjoying the view !
I love the longer vlogs!!!
Good!!
Thanks for sharing your experiences. Have an amazing Labor Day! Fly safe. Cheers. 🛫👍
I love and miss my San Franciscans!!
Great video - sorry for the bad experience you had with that miserable person. My wife and I have been watching your videos from Germany, where we lived the past 5 years. She is a former flight attendant for Qatar. We just moved to SC. Great content!
SC as in South Carolina? if so thats great thats where I'm from!
I actually am usually over in Bellevue! The majority of my vlogs this summer are in Bellevue and I love it!!
@@BalancedFlyer I'm glad you're enjoying it! Woodinville is not too far away and its wine country! Should be a short trip on the 405 but backroads will also get you there too.

Hiya! Downtown Seattle is rough these days! Sorry you can't stay someplace more pleasant when you come through.
We need help in Seattle, but it isn't all bad. We wanted to become a big city now we have big city problems.
We love your yappy vlogs❤️
Good! 😌
I’m still in shock over the fees!
So I guess my friends mom who got stabbed should’ve just made eye contact
Hi Vera…love watching your vlogs…always interesting and love your bubbly personality🌸
Thank you ☺️🩷
yes, i agree with everything you said. the aggressive nature of the unhoused are something i didn't experience when i used to live in nyc or dc. my husband and i rarely go downtown here (we have lived here for 3.5 yrs now). it's very sad to see and i hope the city can figure out a way to help them.
@@delftblue8801lack of leadership but the city is the issue but people were just as rude. Not even any manners

Thanks
Im going to try to update my list soon and I will have it linked!

Thank you!
Next time go to The Museum of history and Industry. Fun stuff about Seattle. It is on Lake Union. Not too far from downtown and safe place to walk. We do have a real drug and homeless population.
Thank you I was looking at that!
Loved this vlog! Sorry for the rude people. It’s unacceptable! I wish I could buy you all three of those books! You’re a true fan!! ❤
You’re so sweet!!
If you ever come back you should visit Tacoma instead! I've lived in Seattle suburbs my whole life and these last few years its gotten really rough downtown.
Who would complain about your yapping?! I love the chatty vlogs 😊
Trust me its happened!
Vera, I am a 64 year old male, oh new subscriber here! I love your videos and I envy your travels, lol, I’m sorry you had some a holes, you had to deal with in Seattle, you ever go up in the Space Needle? I do enjoy your videos, looking forward to more. ✌️
Yes I have a space needle vlog from this summer!
I'm sorry you had those experiences in Seattle. Now you know why you love San Francisco so much! 🙂
SF folks are chill and fun!😅👍👏👏👏👏
I LOVE my SF ppl!!
Hello Vera this is your first video I watched it was good very informative I'm sorry you had that bad experience but I'm not surprised I'll be looking forward to watching more of you,,,, Have a great time 🙏
Thank you for saying hello!
But it’s okay it didn’t scare me away forever!
ugh the attitude of the food store owners would make me feel awkward - im glad it turned around for you at the end! 😌
Im so sad this happened to you in my city. That is uncalled for. I hope find the nice people here.
Thankfully I have found lots of nice people in Seattle!! It sucks that the rude ones leave such an impression but I’ll try to not dwell on it
Greetings from London. This was my first visit to your channel. I loved that there was a bit of culture here. Unlike some other FA vlogs.
So you are Boston based? Or SF ?
How long have you been a FA ?
Hi and welcome!! I am Boston based and I have been a flight attendant for 9.5 years!
@@BalancedFlyer Wow! That was fast! Thanks. Do you ever do international layovers? Like London maybe?
No that’s a separate program with my company I chose not to do but I like to visit Europe regularly!
Unfortunately yes. Downtown Seattle is not like it used to be. We miss our old downtown😢
Oh forget it, your good 👍 loving your 📷❤
Hi Vera! You mentioned in one of your recent videos you use a beef tallow moisturizer. What brand do you recommend? Ive been trying to go back and find the video you mentioned it. Love the vlog as always!
Van man is a good company and I use Based balm as well. I really only use tallow in the colder months though
I love longer vloggs and listening to you talk. It's like chatting with a good friend! ❤❤❤
I'm so glad!
I’m sad I didn’t get over there this year
@@BalancedFlyer love that! The ferries are so fun!
Hi Vera, im so sorry that you were on the receiving end of other people's rude behaviour. I felt for you. I always look forward to seeing your videos and I loved this chatty one! You are so real and relatable.
I'm from South Africa and we pronounce it "leechee", not "laychee" 😂
Lots of love, Nic - Cape Town.
Hello over in Cape Town!!! I really hope to visit one day
Oh, I know that guy. The sandwich is great but that guy is not friendly and shouldn't be serving customers. Be sure to leave a review in Google maps, the place should address that.
I love long vlogs❤️
Good!!! 😊
I'm watching this while eating some soup I got from H Mart in Tigard OR, I love that place.
Yum!
The downtown area just isn’t really the vibe unless you have friends with you and can focus on the good even though the bad is unavoidable now :/
Did you say Tourist or Taurus!?! I am here for either lol. ♥️
lol Tourist, I'm a Cancer

Same. I won’t take work gigs there anymore. I used to love going to readings at bookstores, live music, theater.
I avoid it now.
:( it’s so sad
Yet y'all keep voting DEMON-OCRAT!!!
Same here. At least I have memories
Great vlog! Vera meet your new subscriber. I’m a Seattle native. So sorry about the mean dude.

It’s not bad. Like you said Vancouver is worse. I feel safe here. Just don’t go to night and sketchy areas and you’ll be fine
Do you wear contacts?
No

I watched the whole video. It wasn’t that long!
I'm from Seattle, so I have lots to say 😆😆😆
WOW that is AWFUL!
(The pizza was delicious (and the Apple & Brie was a 10/10) and I would still recommend trying this place if you're looking for something in a historic building, and it's right next to the Gum Wall!)
Also, the Seattle Din Tai Fung in Pacific Place by Nordstrom is the best one in this state because of the location and views!
(The Nest) Definitely do it next time (if you decided to come back, lol)
Also - I just clicked on your video and subscribed - many of the things you were talking about I also love (Chihuly, glass blowing, boba, agree about Seattle, lol) - good vibes!
As someone who has lived here just as long I totally agree.
At the Market trying Mr.D's his kids run the stand. The very best Greek Gyro's. ❤
Thank you for the tip!! I love Greek food
Sanctuary city , just like NYC
I feel like Lyft is always cheaper in my experience
That is so not ok to treat you like that! I wish you had complained to the manager. Love your vlogs!
Please taking a buddy with you when you go out anymore! People arent what they used to be. Theyve gone nuts. Its all over now. The new normal, as its said.
I moved out of Seattle 15 years ago couldn't pay me to go back
I was born and raised in Seattle I left many years ago…Thank goodness.
