So the prosecutor says jail or prison is bad. I guess that means no one should have to pay for their crimes. It’s pretty bad when those sworn to hold criminals accountable think probation is good enough no matter what the crime is.

The prosecutors should be prosecuted. It is their jobs to seek justice for the victims, not looking for sympathy for the criminals. They are doing the opposite of what they supposed to do.
they are controlled by “defund the police” libs who want anyone who is white killed and your property redistributed
This is a rebuke of the DA's soft on crime plea deals. 🎉
A lesbian... you need more explanations.
They would have just let this man go without so much as a slap on the wrist. The fact that this was even a proposed plea deal is a disgrace to the justice system and I respect that judge for having the wherewithal to reject it.
Finally, a judge that actually has some balls.
This is what a judge should be.
Prosecution is concerned that he won’t get the help if he’s in prison. This kid knew right from wrong decided to be apart of the armed carjacking anyway, he needs to be held accountable. I don’t understand why he doesn’t get treatment in prison? That is something that needs to be looked into by people from the outside. This family will never see their loved one again.
Wait just a minute. He's not 25 yet. How could he possibly know that carjacking and shooting at someone was wrong?
Not just decided to be part he supplied the guns
Finally, a strong judge for a change!
The VICTIM had much the same problem going forward.
He went into the pine box much deader and forever a changed man than he was before his murder. I'm sure he would have done things differently if he had a heartbeat but the District Attorney gave him NO mercy or second chances.
The moron who attempted to steal the mans car CAUSED this to happen. There are consequences for your actions and unfortunately the man who was deleted found that out too late.
It’s amazing they have plea deals like that in the first place. It’s almost like killing is legal amazing
Only for non-whites.
If the evidence was weak, I could see a plea deal being appropriate, but this doesn't sound like the prosecution is short on evidence.
Holy cow! Holding criminals accountable!
Thank you judge, for restoring a little bit of my faith in the fact that there are still some decent and sane people left up at the top of the law. For that I’m grateful, and I’m sure the family is too
After this the prosecution downgraded his charge to attempted assault, he pled guilty and was released immediately.
No real difference occurred for the family in the end.
@@topofthemorning6832 Disgraceful. Utterly disgraceful.
Pretty surprising for a Minnesota judge. Must be off his meds.
So the prosecutor says jail or prison is bad. I guess that means no one should have to pay for their crimes. It’s pretty bad when those sworn to hold criminals accountable think probation is good enough no matter what the crime is.
The judge knows all too well exactly what DA's and prosecutors do to other people over a simple misdemeanor. His own family has likely been profiled. He's what a judge should be and the family deserves justice.
About time the judges started to push back on these lazy prosecutors.
That prosecutor should be fired. This kid wasn't out shoplifting candy bars.
Don't forget to thank the DA for wasting tax money! There's no way he should have avoided prison! Being sorry is ok. It still doesn't remove your debt!
Why isn’t the DAs office prosecuted for failure to do their jobs.
Justice is not about rehabilitation, it's about compensating the victim/s through just punishment of the perpetrator/s. Someone getting off of a crime they unarguably committed and are convicted of regardless of the reason is a lapse in justice.
>justice is not about rehabilitation
Look, otherwise I agree with you on this, but bad statement.
Then again... these people can't be redeemed. You can't rehabilate a monster like this through probation.
@@crispy7499 It's not like he's saying rehabilitation is a bad thing, he's just stating the fact that justice is not about rehabilitation.
@@KegWarrior ya, but the problem is that the statement is misleading. justice is not ONLY about rehabilitation, but 'the justice system' in a society that wants its people to stay safe, is very much about rehabilitation. unless its a life sentence (without parole) do you want this guy to be reformed when he gets out, or do you want him to kill someone else in another car jacking, maybe its you this time. @duewhat9815 is ignoring the rehabilitation part of it completely, which is just as bad as that DA completely ignoring the punishment part of it. i doubt this DA is a dummy. she has polls telling her the easiest way to stay in office is to show compassion to criminals very publicly and overtly. this is on the voters in that county.
@@demonplay21 Justice is not about getting someone off of a path or out of a mindset, it's about them getting just punishment, rehabilitation is and should be a secondary. Murder is still murder whether or not the murderer regrets it and will never do it again...by their actions they are still dead, punishment for that is justice, rehabilitating who they are as a person has nothing, literally nothing to do with justice.
Rehabilitation happens after punishment. You could be the Gandhi later but you need to do the time for the crime first
Prosecutor says he would come out of prison "worse off than he is now". He's already a murderer- how much worse can he get?
Thank you, Judge Sensible 👏👍
Good for the Judge. He is a man about the rule of law not about some jack up deal
He has made progress in his rehabilitation. That’s nice and I hope that he continues to improve. However, his victim is still dead.
How can you not go to jail for murder? Wonder why the streets are becoming prisons for everyone
by turning States Evidence
That’s an outstanding Judge.
Thank you judge for rejecting the plea deal. Most plea deals do not hold the criminals completely accountable. We are all accountable for the things we do.
America needs to stop this rehabilitation silliness.
A plea deal that removes all prison time?
The American justice system is fucked, I'm glad the judge didn't accept it
He can make progress in prison for the next 20 years
Probation for carjacking and murder.... Hey criminals, Minneapolis is the place for you!
Prosecutor: "if he goes to jail, he'll be worse coming out than when he went in"....
Me: " I suspect your guidance counselor steered you into the wrong profession."
Anybody remember that Stanford student that raped a gal, but the judge said "sending him to jail would ruin his life"? LOL, the judge got recalled. I think he sells plantation shutters at Home Depot now.
amazed your comment made it through. I can't seem to write the big M word in the context of a perpetrator being responsible for it without being automatically hidden or deleted.
UA-cam has gone too far in their efforts to infringe on what people can and cannot say or write! It's getting ridiculous!
Brotha stuck it to the lame Moriarty prosecutor. All those like her are why we have rampant criminality these days. I just moved from Seattle living there for 25 years and was lucky to leave with my life. My child was not so fortunate.
God bless this judge. He understands his Oath of office. He is an absolutely phenomenal judge.
Other judges need to be strong like this guy
All the best to this family and kudos to this judge for actually doing his job and not letting this kind of evil go Scott free.
The DA downgraded his charge from murder to attempted assault after this. He was released immediately after pleading guilty.
He would've had a murder charge on his record, but now, all he has is an attempted assault.
Sad to say, but this worked out in his favour completely and backfired on the victims and the judge, all because of the DA
Prosecutors and judges have been putting repeat offenders back on the streets with a tiny slap on the wrist. It's happening way to much here in MN. Plea deals and probation for felony crimes shouldn't even be considered.
Why does the title only list Carjacking in it and not Murder?
I am so happy to hear a judge stand up for America and do what is right. So many just want to slap their hand just to get as many trials out of the way as they can. My hat comes off to this judge.
Love this Judge! We need more Judges like him.
It's disgusting it's taken this long to get this far.
4 years !
Four different goals of corrections are commonly espoused: retribution, deterrence, incapacitation, and rehabilitation. In cases where there are clearly victims, especially victims who were murdered, to focus exclusively on rehabilitation does not only the victims a disservice but also society as a whole.
Give him his 22 years and call it a day
A 22 year deal- to probation is crazy lol. What did he give?
Good. Then he can be a 'new man' in prison and be accountable for his actions.
