    Do not get the M breaks guys before test driving them. Those are way too aggressive for city driving. Stick with regular ones and save the 8k

    Between the 40I and the 45E did you notice any difference about response? Would expect that 45E would respond quicker because the electric motor can take over right and remove turbo lag and delays.
    Not sure if you felt a noticeable difference?

    • @BostonAutoBlog

      Off the line it feels quicker and even accelerating from a roll there’s no lag. Acceleration is noticeably smoother

    Not sure he's too familiar with the car stats. BMU and most other reviewers rate the run on battery at close to 50 miles. Not 30 miles. The point is that most commuters, if they plug in their car every night, can save quite a bit on fuel. This felt like a review that was honestly delivered, but rushed into without proper research. The brake stuff is not relevant. What was not mentioned was the very point of any review of gas versus hybrid. Did the mpg increase?

    • @BostonAutoBlog
      @BostonAutoBlog  3 роки тому

      BMW says 30 miles of electric range, and go to any automotive media outlet and the range is rated at 30 miles. Only European reviewers claim the X5 plug-in hybrid can go 50 miles per charge, but even American BMW dealers say 30. Obviously owners may experience different numbers, but I only had the vehicle for 3 hours. The brake stuff isn’t irrelevant to a car enthusiast or someone who wants to drive spiritedly, and my point was that the M-Sport brakes were more responsive than the standard brakes the other BMW X5 I reviewed had. In regards to MPG differences, you can’t possibly see a difference on a 20 minute test drive, that’s something you can only be precise with if you have the X5 for an entire day if not week

      actually, if you go at highway speeds, have larger than stock 19' tires or a variety of other factors, most reviews in the US say 30 miles on the battery alone.

      EPA rates the X5 PHEV at 31 miles of range.
      If people are getting 40-50 miles that's fantastic. Do you want me to consult with every owner and conduct a survey on how much range they're getting before putting together every video?

      Thanks Mark! Hybrid technology still has a ways to go, but the X5 is probably the best option on the market right now for a plug in hybrid crossover at the $65k - $70k range. I think BMW’s done enough in the short term to make it more appealing than last generation.

      I get 43-5 Miles in my BMW X5 M 45e UK model on the pure electric 2020 model.At 50 mile an hour doing a shopping run of 20 miles round trip.

    • @marknixon8366

      mark foster 30 electric miles is super conservative. I’m averaging 38-42. Northwest Pennsylvania. I’m learning how to conserve EV range by coasting to stops and not accelerating hard, etc. It makes a huge difference in your electric range. There’s also a $7,500 federal income tax credit that (if you can claim it) makes the cost less than a comparably equipped standard X5. I have 918 miles on my car and still have more than half of the original tank of fuel remaining. Car will be 6 weeks old on 8/27. What’s not to love? It’s a fantastic car. Two axle air suspension and locking rear diff are also standard on the 45e, not on the 40i.

    • @leedavid1175

      Wasn’t too much up charges. It also comes with few upgrades over the gas model that makes up most of the upcharge.

    • @wleacock76
      @wleacock76 3 роки тому

      In the US, the $7500 tax rebate actually makes the hybrid 45e cheaper than the 40i. Plus there are a few things, like the height adjustment, standard on the hybrid only.

    Note that the battery was depleted when the vehicle was started and the reviewer drove it in Sport mode, where the internal combustion engine is always running. He never drove the car in electric only mode. How can you give a full review and not drive the car in the mode that most differentiates it from the 40i? It's nice of the dealer to give a car for review. But not charging the battery first really just has the reviewer driving around a vehicle with an extra 800 pounds of weight and diminished performance. Also the M Sport brakes are a stand alone option and are not part of the M Sport package, as the reviewer misstates a few times. I'm giving this car strong consideration, but this review did not help me much.

      The usable battery capacity is different between the european versions and the us versions. The net usable battery capacity for the euro versions is about 21 kwh while the net usable battery capacity for the us versions is about 17.5 kwh...dont know why the battery efficiency is different for the two. Thats why the euro versions have electric range of about 50 miles while the us versions have an electric range of about 31 miles.

    On 23 September, BMW decided to conduct a voluntary safety recall. According to the NHTSA report, there are some 4,509 recalled PHEVs in the US, including 2,441 X3 xDrive30e (2020-2021), 1,228 X5 xDrive 45e (2021), and 33 Mini Cooper Countryman All4 SE (2020-2021). BMW is currently working on a solution to the fault. Until a remedy is available, drivers will be instructed to not charge their vehicle, not to drive in manual or sport mode, and to not use the shift paddles.

      I’ve been assured by multiple salesmen at my local BMW dealership that all current new build submittals going forward - not necessarily those already on the lot - are unaffected by the recall and the battery pack can be safely charged. Dealers are not permitted to sell a new car which has an open recall on it. So if it’s already on the lot and is affected by a recall, it’s not legal to sell.

    Hybrid MPG of 20mpg has got to be the lowest of all brand. Even the BMW site has the full range of 400 miles (30 EV+ 370 with 18.2 gal of fuel in hybrid), much lower than 600 miles for RAV 4 Prime and lower range and mpg than the regular X5. It's only good for 30 miles or less round trip...and RAV 4 Prime has the pano roof and superior audio (1000+W) at 30K less sticker price.
