Oh man you guys need to keep this going. Such a sweet series. With these videos and your maps, more people are gonna be accessing the public lands and going on these awesome hunts!
Thanks for all the videos guys, because of it more January hunts no longer exist in Arizona this year because of the influx of people. You're spoiling it for everyone man.
Great stuff as always from you guys and Steven Drake. I'm looking forward to this series as this is a hunt I've wanted to do for some time. Thanks for sharing!
Such a great idea for video series. Thank you so much OnX. Out of ate hunting can be so confusing at times and daunting. Keep these videos coming for us! Gonna upgrade my state account to all state account.
Excellent series! More please. I live in SC and am always looking for OTC opportunities out west. Thanks for breaking it down with cost, location tips, equipment, etc.. Used onXHunt for OTC in CO earlier this year. Extremely helpful! Love the off grid option. Had a Garmin GPS, but the app with the off grid function was so useful I never even pulled it out of my pack. iPhone with onXhunt app w/off grid mode in otter box waterproof case was far superior. iPhone in airplane mode ran 5 days without recharge. Great tool...thanks
Wow, didn't know there was an OTC mule deer opportunity. Looks like I have to start really doing some research. Looking forward to the rest of this series.
on my wifes account today. This man does not waste any money on apartment furnishing LOL!! Saves it all for hunting. I love it. Gotta do it while your young and single
Good point by those who have made it that the OTC Archery Deer TAG is only good for the calendar year, and you need a new one on January first. But one good thing is that the hunting LICENSE you also have to buy expires 365 days from the purchase date, so if you buy it online before you start a hunt that overlaps from December into January, your LICENSE will be good for both of those months.
There is a way to get the OTC tags mailed to you also so you don’t have to stop and buy them when you get there. If you’d like more info on that send me a message.
Aaron Wilder you can buy the tag over the counter once you get to AZ. You don’t need to apply for it or get ahead of time. Refer to hunting regulations but the tag is good for most of the state.
Deer regs start on page 34. Go down to page 39 for OTC deer regs. It’s a tough hunt but lots of fun. s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/azgfd-portal-wordpress-pantheon/wp-content/uploads/archive/2019-20-Arizona-Hunting-Reguations_WEB_190514.pdf
However ive been drawn 4 years in a row with only one point for rifle deer in az desert deer in 45 abc. Its a hard hunt but there are monsters out there
Thanks for telling everyone in the world about how our G and F over sells tags. Well, at least some of the info was wrong and people will be lost when they get here.
Ryan Roe lmao!! Just cause they have the info doesn’t mean they’ll shoot any deer🤣 It’s tougher than most people think. You’re not huntin out of a box blind over your corn field here in AZ.
Umm I'm not a huge hunter but i like to go every year. Here in Idaho I can draw out for 36 bucks for Mule deer and have a license for 16 and the draw fee of 24. $76. I'm sorry but ONLY $900 is not even remotely inexpensive. I do appreciate the information but not everyone can throw down a grand for an OTC hunt.
Roger U if you didn’t live in a western state, or one with much public land, you’d start looking other places and start shelling out cash just for the opportunity. This information is for those that need it. If you don’t need it that’s cool but don’t bag on it like it’s not good info. I’d give my right nut to live and hunt in Idaho. Just be grateful for what you have.
I live in MT, but I go down to AZ every year to deer and javelina hunt because it’s fun, it’s really not too expensive compared to other out of state hunts, and it’s nice to get out of winter for a few days.
This series is getting us amped for our January hunt!

AZ OTC tags and AZ Draw tags are One deer per Calendar year, ie for OTC dec2018 and jan2019 are two different tags. Plan ahead

Keep in mind dec and jan are 2 different tags (different years). If you plan both, you'll need one for each year.
great point!
Thanks for the info.

The tag is only good until the end of December. You’ll have to buy a new tag Jan 1st.
yep. once the year ends you'll need one for the next year. Same OTC tag though!
To get a OTC tag did you have to apply for the limited draw ahead of time?
Is the tag good for any unit in the state?

Stop advertising the fact that anyone can come to my great state to make this hunt. The backroads are crowded enough for us locals.
Is there an over the counter rifle tags too?
Jeff Carroll nope

Not anymore!! The otc tag is now limited, thank goodness. You out of staters are ruining our hunts.
Haha I’m a resident youth. 50 for the tag 5 for the lisence.
Is it only for archer or is there rifle opportunities too?
The OTC tag is archery only.
Rifle is lottery...
What unit is that
What unit were you in ?
Stay out!!!!! ;)
