Well thought and well fought... Wavesplitter gets a boost to damage on picking up orbs if i remembered a very unique way to snowball post rampage meta... Now i regret dismantling a kill clip roll of lonesome.

Paulo is a really, really good pvp player. Like absolutely terrifying scary good. Will definitely be Crucible Handler when Shaxx retires.
This guy knows how to make a build. I remember playing against a top tree Nightstalker using Rat King. They were the only enemy guardian in the entire match I kept a sharp eye out for. It was like fighting Predator.

I'm a huge fan of the Lonesome sidearm and regularly use one that has swashbuckler and full auto. Most aren't ready for how hard it hits and it has 67 range Stat and 75 stability stat with ricochet rounds. I think a lot of people forget how effective running a double primary can be. Would love to see a video of what you could come up with for a Titan sidearm build.
So lonesome is from drifter if im remembering right? Other then kill clip what else would be some great synergized perks?

I love content like this where content creators feature other plays who have “become legend”. I’ve noticed other creators like Cammy talking about that ethos being the best way to play the game and experience the best of Destiny.

I actually ran this build mainly during shadowkeep era. It’s insane and extremely slept on. However, higher skilled players with hand cannons will almost always win as they carefully place their headshots so trials and 5500 survival will make this load out trivial. Have fun in 6v6 game modes though hehe. Easy 3.0 kd every game.
Rat King + Frozen Orbit on Tether was all I ran this past weekend of Trials, people just weren't expecting the heals + invis! Tried it in Comp and almost won a 1v3 match where my team quite out, not especially lethal but a surprising gem of a build
I run a Lonesome/Traveler's Chosen Top Tree NS build with Contingency Plan, Graviton, and dbl utility kick start. I enter most engagements invis which helps to compensate for my 63yo reflexes...plus a little radar spoofing with the smoke bomb.
It feels so good to see the good ole off meta builds in the spotlight

Adjustment to the ratking loadout: use graviton forfeit for insane ability uptime and better overall play, even though the trick sleeves give you much better damage output, they're much higher risk. So if you want a perma invis setup to *really* make the other team cry, use that pretty purple exotic helmet.
As someone who has 20k pvp kills with my rat king and runs a very similar build to this I have some extra tips.
1. Graviton is honestly better if you are going for more invis time and the abllity to radar manipulate with smoke more often.
2. Best options for energy with rat king are scouts like trustee or the reissued viest Dead orbit scout Or a bow like point of the stag. I would not recommend snipers as you don't want the possibility to put more special on the field while flanking.
3. Recovery stat with the RK cat matters. Faster recovery equals more survivability.
4. Always run double loaders for RK. Don't want to lose the fight because you couldn't heal in time.
5. Don't forget top tree smoke pings enemy radar. Most people relay heavily on radar, take advantage of this with smoke to lure them to where you want them to go.

I've tried this before with my Lonesome. Absolutely hilarious when the stars align and you steamroll someone.
I run a similar build, with Rat King and Graviton Forfeit on top tree void hunter. You have near 100% uptime on invis and smoke bombs. Double outreach, double melee kickstart, powerful friends invigoration and surprise attack. Recovery becomes an irrelevant stat as graviton bumps it up to 9.5 while invis, and rat king kills heal you as well. Bait people into your smoke bombs while invis, kill them with Rat King, repeat.
I’d be so interested how this aged with Void 3.0 and the current sidearm meta. You should talk with this guy again and see if he is still rocking this loadout and how it’s changed in recent months.
I use Rat king, Contingency plan w/ maxed stability, Omnioculus and smoke bomb invis- good at all ranges and due to staying off the radar, I nick’d it the “Psychological warfare” build. Soooo many people crutch the radar that you can end up in places they don’t expect, or just drop out of the shadows and snatch them up.)

Could you run a different sidearm, low recovery, and just prefire a Tommy's Matchbook to drive your health down, go invisible, and literally surprise attack someone with the boosted damage from Tricksleeves or is that too much effort for the reward?

I’ve been saying this for a year now. Rat King > Traveler’s Chosen. That being said I do have a build recommendation. Bottom tree void warlock, mantle of battle harmony, Traveler’s Chosen w/ catalyst. Eating your nade for devour activates Osmosis on TC, now that it’s void it benefits from the +20% damage buff from battle harmony plus it stacks with surprise attack. I don’t even consume the TC stacks for ability energy. Devour keeps you alive and returns grenade energy on kills, TC pretty much always has a damage buff, and you have that nova bomb there if you need to shut a super down.

Double utility kickstart
Heal + cover every 7ish seconds.
Very aggressive tower barricade plays, usually pair it with a dynamic sway range finder Death Adder and Sturm.
Very fun playstyle and also counters snipers very easily, can switch out crest for Citans if you want to snipe.
Or peacekeepers double SMG if you wanna get more risk/reward.
For another niche/mastery build I’d recommend using heart of inmost light with middle tree solar, and fusion grenades. Use your barrier to give you better ability damage, and if you stick the fusion made it one-shots the enemy. The exotic not only gives you the one shot nades, but greatly increased ability regen, and middle tree solar obviously allows for roaring flames and OHKO melees
I mean thats not really a niche build with a high skill ceiling, it just an unfair and broken one in really specific scenarios. If a player just happens to find himself turning a corner while youre popping your barricade, theres basically nothing they can do as long as you dont have potato aim with your melee or sticky nade. With this build yea youve got a .2 ttk, but you have to do it while critically wounded so you HAVE to either get the first shot off or be slick as fuck with your movement while also hitting only headshots with a sidearm. If youre bobbing and weaving, good luck trying to hit all crits with a sidearm bro its so difficult

@@spicysnowman8886 its way easier to stuff someone with it in the body at slug shotgun range than it is to actually hit a slug shotgun shot. Yes there is travel time but its quite fast and the projectile size is pretty generous. There is very little arc over distance as well. Ive mapped people with those things so many times. Especially if youre flanking and either you catch someone off guard hardscoping another lane or sprinting around a corner theres nothing they can do, and if someone does notice just a little too late or youre flanking in a route with tight corners or otherwise generally close quartered, if they try to barrel stuff you you can outrange them, and if they try to backpedal you just need to not choke the throw and you will obviously out ttk them with a one it ability that has fast travel time. It doesnt even have a long windup like the hunter throwing knife. Theres a reason they put such a long charge up time on the weighted knife, its really hard to use just on reaction, and its even harder to use as a shit the bed option. The hammer comes out so quick it can be used to instantly win a situation that goes south on offense or defense, without any foresight or timing.

This is an awesome showcase of how many diverse builds that are out there in the Destiny PvP space & highlights personal creativity. I would love to see this as a series @Fallout to illuminate the slept on builds. Really been using the Lumina/Frozen Orbit (H.I.R.) with boots of the assembler on HealLock for a while, teammates using high DPS weapons(Lorentz) must say it is criminally slept on and with the upcoming changes it likely to rise in the skill tier. Also shout-outs to trace rifles!
There's a ton of these kinds of fun niche builds in the game but it's like everyone feels pressure to just run the meta 24/7

Until special weapon economy and fly-in apes get a real check against them, you'll never see incentive buildcraft like this take hold. It's too easy to run over teams shotguns, and it's going to get worse with the ability nerfs.
It’s mainly because actually getting a fun niche build is awful in Destiny. Grinding armor with the specific stats and specific elements you need is a pain, then grinding the gun can be even worse if it isn’t umbra available, then if you don’t have a specific CWL mod you’re basically fucked

I was thinking perhaps Tommy's matchbook could be good for mechaneer's tricksleeves since it self damages you allowing you to be critically wounded almost all the time since it also has infinite ammo due to it being a primary. Also gives you that added bonus of having a weapon for mid range fights. Just a thought though
I’m not nearly a great or even a good PvPer but I love running silly fun/strategic builds.
One I was having fun with until I couldn’t stay awake anymore last night was Ratking/bombardiers top tree arc hunter.
There’s a channel called TDT that does unique builds like these on the regular, super good stuff. I’ve been using a Rat King + Graviton Forfeit build that I got from them in all PvP, for about 6 months and it’s really powerful. Sidearms are generally underrated and I think people need to give other weapon types a chance, rather than staying in the comfort zone of Hand Cannon/Shotgun

For an off meta loadout, a while ago I used Chromatic fire paired with arbalest. Since the nerf to arbalest, I ran it again the other day with jade rabbit, basically any precision weapon in kinetic.
Get double and sometimes triple kills in 6v6 is funny, especially when you had no right to. Give it a try, I think the explosion is 206 so one shotting any guardian within 3 metres of the kill. Just watching them die straight after your first kill leaves yourself and definitely them, baffled 😂
Oh ya, TDT made a video on this, went into full depth on this build. Give it a watch guys, it's a great build.
I literally never comment on these types of videos but I really gotta day how much I love the "super weirdly effective builds" videos. Please do more like this and you'll always have my like guaranteed.
One of my fav builds that I’ve been using for the longest time is getaway artist with a bow and Smg, shotgun, a sidearm (two round burst are my fav), or LW (if I’m feeling spicy). I really enjoy it cause it allows for aggressive play with a bow, which is really fun

I love this kind if video, the build craft potential is always my favorite part rather than absolute meta. Keeps it fun and entertaining and if you play it right. It can beat out meta because it's unfamiliar or something people don't expect all together, while also having fun while doing so
Last Iron Banner some 2 friends and I all ran Rat King and it was the most fun I've had in iron banana in a long time. (I was also using top tree nightstalker and graviton to be extra annoying)
One thing that I find is really slept on is mechaneers tricksleeves with a double reload buff on devils ruin with probably unflinching and targeting to go overkill
another sidearm build for you, using an off meta titan exotic and one of your favourite sidearms:
-Devils ruin
-Sun spot titan
-surprise attack cwl mod set up
-path of the burning steps boots
what makes this nuts right now is how often burning steps, sun warrior and surprise attack are active and also that devils ruin has infinte ammo meaning that you're no longer going to run out of ammo for spamming the laser beam mode :) :) :) this is very fun in 6v6 but is not bad in 3v3 as one ability kill or 2 solar kills is enough to melt things faster than fast. just gotta remember that devli's ruin has a long charge up
In terms of specialist style builds... Area denial specialist. Top tree voidwalker, vortex nades, Contraverse hold. Max discipline, max recov, bolstering detonation and fastball on Contraverse, double bomber or double utility Kickstart on bond. Now you have all the nades to flush people out, and all the rifts to endure whatever they throw back hopefully. But... Infinite vortexes aren't enough to be a *true* specialist. Enter: Witherhoard. If you land both a vortex and witherhoard right next to someone, they're dead. In addition, the ability to lock out 2 areas with extremely lethal tick damage enables you to completely control the gunfight. Primary: AR or long range SMG. force them out of cover then melt them down while they're exposed with weapons that need an exposed gunfight. You're basically forcing the win condition for an AR or SMG in a duel. Works great in trials, often snagging a pick or even double kill early in the round
I’ve been maining a bow hotswap build for a long time, but with the release of wolftone draw, it got severely buffed.
I rock crimson, wolftone with harmony, and canis major with vorpal. Armor is hunter with either bottom tree gunslinger or top tree nightstalker. Respectively, exotics of choice are athrys’s or dragon’s shadow. With the build, essentially as soon as you get your first kill, swap back to your bow, and it hits for 182 in the head. With charged with light, that’ll grant a 7-second one hit kill bow after swapping to it at any time. I tend to enjoy the gunslinger build with thermoclastic blooming since one hit knife kills will always grant an orb of power, and the synergy with crimson and the rest of the tree just slaps. I highly recommend trying this out, @Fallout 😊👍🏿 you will not be disappointed! Hit me up if you want to use my account for it!
Punching out with rangefinder and high impact absolutely melts. Destroys shotguns especially with trick sleeves and high resilience
I used a similar build in the season’s first iron banner, but I had a peacebond with harmony paired with devils ruin. Takes some decent skill and a fair amount of luck but getting weak while getting a laser kill with devils ruin is incredibly easy, giving you a proc on both harmony and tricksleeves. If you get lucky enough to get a charge harvester proc from that devils ruin kill, it actually lets peacebond get a 1 burst kill on all resiliences. Rare of course, but the build easily lets you go for 2 burst body kills at 97 total damage on a full body burst without charged with light. Somehow some of the most fun I’ve had in pvp lately is not only with double primary, but double sidearm too

I’ve used a similar Rat King build to solo flawless in Trials since the changes.
Bottom tree void, graviton forfeit, 100 str, 66 mob res and rec, 50 int and 20 dis. Making myself or allies invis gives a chunk of grenade energy so that’s no issue. Everything feeds into giving back my melee so it’s always available, and Rat Kings invis/health combo let’s you engage back to back to back opponents for as long as you can.
A build I use in Crucible is a Off-Meta Build.. Sorta.
Class: Top-Tree Nightstalker
Weapons: Mida-Multi Tool, Last Dance{Or any energy Adaptive Sidearm}, and a Heavy weapon of your Choice. I usually go Grenade Launcher.
Exotic Armor: Wormhusk Crown
Stats to go for: 100 Mobility, and 100 Recovery.
Having 2 weapons that can deal with anything at any range is REALLY nice, and Wormhusk giving a 33% Health/Shield recover on a somewhat quick dodge can be a turning point in a Firefight, or a quick boost to go into another fight. The Invis can help break tracking on some weapons{*Coughs*Jotunn*Coughs*}, and help you move around the map safer to find your next Prey. MIDA is meant for the Medium to Long range fights, while the Adaptive Frame Sidearm is meant for a Close to Medium Range fight. If you have a Sidearm with Kill Clip, then it can down a Guardian in 2-Bursts, which is downright insane.
Potential Bonuses to add/change, but I personally never got them to work properly: 1. Add High Energy Fire, because it's HEF.
2. Swap MIDA out for Crimson for a more CQB Playstyle, but Crimson adds to feeling almost unkillable.
I know it doesn't seem over the top, but a build like this has made Crucible VERY fun for me to play in, and I normally don't like playing Crucible either. Lol. Open to Thoughts/Opinions on this build too!
Wanted to point out that this build is EXTREMELY similar to a bow sidearm build that TDT did in early october. His build was mainly a Le Monarque build with the lonesome combo (using the tricksleeves, killclip, and high energy fire/surprise attack) and both builds use top tree nightstalker

Why hunter's gotta snitch. Kill clip lonesome has been my main for so long. And a fun build was lonesome vow. Lonesome, eriana and an empowering rift with occasional charge with light buffs.
I have been having GREAT success in Trials with a bottom-tree nightstalker build that uses Graviton Forfeit for longer invis on smokes and Ager's Scepter with the catalyst. The game plan is to flank using nearly unlimited smokebombs (x2 melee kickstart + graviton melee regen + 100str), get a pick, and then run away or collapse on the remaining enemies.
Flanking with Ager's allows you to get a reasonably fast pick if you are accurate, which then slows the nearby enemies. This gives you a window to switch to your Shayura's wrath to cleanup, or get away and wait for your team to move in. This becomes even more dangerous once your super is charged, because now you can eat a normally useless PvP super (multi-tether) and turn it into an invisible chaos reach.
Essentially you have the phenomenal neutral game of bottom tree tether and none of the downsides. Additionally, you don't want or need high intellect to run this and your recovery can be a bit lower due to the Graviton recovery buff while invis. You'll also have a grenade up most of the time due to the smokebomb/heart of the pack interaction that gives nade energy.
I cannot overstate how incredibly effective this is.
Fallout Plays, consider this: A Swift Verdict (void precision sidearm) with Tunnel Vision/Kill Clip and Ager's Scepter. You get the same power as Lonesome with even more lethality when you activate both kill perks, and Ager's Scepter turns the top tree Nightstalker's lackluster super into a beam of icy death that also creates orbs for the rest of your build.
i met one of these specialist 2 weeks ago in trials, he was a stasis titan with witherhoard and an disruption break ikelos smg (peacekeepers). this guy was insane and his loadout was surprising too. we went flawless relatively easily and i checked his stats and he had a 4 or 5 kd in trials. his proficiency with the loadout was incredible
I used true vanguards build with a peacebond but I pair it with an auto loading deafening whisper and it changes gun fights for me. It's another underrated weapon that can still do good until the enemy figures out they should be jumping more to avoid the blast. Plus it does great damage on supers
I love playing with sleeper builds like this. I have one that uses Rat King and a Stars in Shadow with Headseeker on bottom tree ArcStrider. I use it with Dragon's Shadow so that I can easily chain kills together. One of my clanmates uses a crazy build too: TTD, Ophidian's, Eye of Sol, Devil's Ruin, Fusion nades, and Strafe Glide. He currently sits at a 2.0+ average in Trials in the top 0.3%. He hasn't taken off that build all season.
100 Mobility + 2x Utility Kickstart + Absolution & Recuperation + Powerful Friends, Radiant Light, High-Energy Fire + Rat King & Graviton Forfeit on Way of Trapper
Invis Marksman's Dodge has a ~5 sec cooldown, while Invisible basically have Outlaw on all guns and Recovery is max. Rat King kill Invisibility lasts about as long as my Dodge cooldown and every reload after kill heals. Pick up Orb- healed, Dodge cooldown reduced, High-Energy helps me get next kill which at worst is me succeeding and at best is me succeeding + feeding my Invisibility and healing me. You're missing Swift Charge on an Arc armour piece. Super easy to proc double kills with sidearms (especially rat king with its invis and healing properties, which I main btw)

One of my fav off meta builds is my burning gemini one. I use Gemini Jesters on middle tree gunslinger with Monte Carlo. The entire point is to be a walking blinding nade, constantly blinding people, and getting dodges back with my burning knives and incendiary nade. Monte Carlo helps me get my knives back quicker. The pants can also be swapped out for Bombadiers for an almost entirely self-looping 'burn-dodge' combo.
I love meeting people like this. Got picked up by a clan when I dropped a 40 bomb on my now long time fireteam with cerberus+1 , Martyr's retribution and khepri's horn 👌🏾
A under rated exotic is the arthur embrace gauntlets on hunter. When put together with the darkest before and a kinetic shotgun of your choice it’s really good. The bouncing knifes take some time getting used to but man are they powerful. Not to mention that they can one shot any super in the game. Once mastered you can kill people before they even see you.
This man plays similarly to me! Sidearm + Trace is one my absolute favorite. Rat King is my #1 favorite sidearm, so now that we have a legendary Trace, I can run the exact build I want too. It was always sad to not run Rat w/ trace because they were all locked to the exotic slot
TDT did a an almost identical video about a month ago.
There's a pretty vicious PVE variant of this build that runs a Void sidearm (I like Seventh Seraph SI-2, though A Swift Verdict is also a good option) along with:
Reaping Wellmaker (Void well on dodge after a kill) + Elemental Charge (2 stacks of CwL per void well) + Surprise Attack (Sidearm +DMG), and Font of Might (Void +DMG)
Uptime is pretty much constant, and you can throw in Kill Clip, or Surrounded, or even Power of Rasputin (with SS SI-2) if you wanna get fancy
The coolest part of this build that you pointed was the stat priorities. The sidearm invis build is cool, but recovery so often being The Stat to have alongside Intellect regardless of Class, Subclass, gear etc makes this particularly interesting because it doesn't much care about Intellect since the super is underwhelming and it can actually excuse low Recovery as a deliberate build choice for the sake of the Tricksleeve bonus.
A fun one I’ve been enjoying is middle tree striker titan with eriana’s vow and a snapshot QuickDraw handcannon of your choice (I happen to have a steady hand but if it’s 140 or 120 it should work).
Thanks to sliding over ammo bricks giving you a one shot headshot with middle tree eriana’s is basically a pocket sniper on steroids, with the backup handcannon being a nice way to clean up kills.
For a more passive design you can go for empowering rifts, which is effectively the same concept, but to be honest the strongest way to take advantage of eriana’s is to pair it with a team for team shooting. If you get a headshot with eriana’s and either of your teammates puts in basically any damage whatsoever you get a kill.
Mods to run: every handcannon buff. I haven’t tested high energy fire for one shot potential but if it does that might be a nice perk to add. In any case making your handcannons have double targeting, dex, reload speed, double unflinching and scavenger is pretty nice.
I wouldn’t say this loadout is ridiculously good, but on a good team that is capable of consistent team shooting it holds its own in trials, and is quite the peculiar pick. A good mixture between meta and fun, just don’t crutch the primary handcannon.
What i run is a biting winds with a quick access sling on it, with an igneous that has Quickdraw, this allows instant swap without use of any armor mods. The optimal ttk i get with this is probably around .1 seconds. For the armor I run graviton forfeit on bottom tree nighstalker, with max strength and double melee Kickstart, as well as double outreach on the cloak. This allows me to actually be perma invis, as well as getting crazy stat buffs from both the graviton and the heart of the pack. An added bonus is that because of bottom tree, I can give my teammates both invis and the +30 to mobility, res, and recov. With the recovery buff while invis from graviton, and the +30 recovery from heart of the pack, I start regen the moment I go invis. Another aspect is that with the frequency I get my smoke, I can stack the heart of the pack buff to 3 very easily, I'm sure it has diminishing returns but the stats are still crazy high.
I doubt he gave the aggressive frames a try. Smuggler's Word was my baby before it was sunset. The only non sunset aggressive frame at the moment is Brass Attacks and I imagine that it has some 1 tap potential with all those combos mentioned in the video.
My main pvp hunter build lately is bottom tree nightstalker with omnioculis and ratking. With omnioculis and the invisible smoke melee you can be invisible for a very long time because of the two smoke melee's provided by the exotic armor. If you have two allies with you you can be invisible literally forever since if you make yourself invisible plus one teammate you get halve your melee back, two teammates and yourself you get the full charge back, three and a full charge and a half and so on, all while having damage resistance from the exotic armor. Along with this since your using bottom tree nightstalker you get heart of the pack, which gives weapon hast and a plus 1 to your mobility, recovery, and resilience for each stack of heart of the pack, which with this build can hit X3 pretty quickly for yourself and teammates. Paired with the ratking with the catalyst you have even more invisibility, and when you get the kill and turn invisible you gain the health regeneration from the catalyst and the damage resistance from the chest exotic piece while invisible. All this with just the class, armor, and weapons without even going into armor mods which makes things even stronger. This is the build I'll run in trials when i join a team that talks, and i can happily say that turning your whole team invisible before a gunfight can really throw off the other team.
I’m 99% sure surprise attack got a nerf and isnt giving you that 35% increase anymore.

It used to do 100% extra damage but only in PVE. The nerf was reducing it from 100% to 35% but it applies in PVP.

It went from 100% down to 35% and that is in both pvp AND pvE.
AND it no longer stacks with other buffs in the game.
the even more important thing about surprise attack is that those 5 stacks are only decaying if you hit your target, meaning that once you got it all next 5 connevting shots are amped no matter how many bullets you miss in between

Been preaching the lonesome for ages. Particularly the gunsmith god roll max range, high cal, zen moment, kc, range MW one. I used to think the last dance was the best sidearm in the game untill i tried out that lonesome and was shocked!
Its so forgiving its unreal. Salute this guy for making it even better. Wish i could get the ratking catalyst but it just wont drop for me. People say it only drops in nightfalls but they also say thats bs too. If The merciless catalyst dropped for me from the normal strike playlists the other day, i dont see why the rat king one is so difficult to get.
Can confirm that rat king is very slept on. Used it one day to meme around expecting it to be awful. Turns out it's good and I actually love pairing it with a sniper. It's nice for 1v2 situations or someone attacking you immediately after your last fight.
My favorite off-meta build is low impact shotgun, top tree arcstaff, and liar’s handshake. Jumping into a group, shotty melee the first guy (rapid fires almost never kill) and follow up with a synthocep range one shot on his buddy, plus full health for any more follow ups. Tons of fun, and gets even better with the new changes considering the melee cooldown, and that its main counter is shatterdive.
You found one of us in the wild! There's like a dozen of us who use Tricksleeves! Been a big fan of them since Breachlight got introduced (I hope it gets reissued soon). Currently, I really like using them with Devil's Ruin and a kinetic sniper. It's crazy how fast you can spam high powered lasers back-to-back and melt supers.
Went looking in my app and i actually have a rapid hit/kill clip lonesome in my vault... as my favorite non-stasis hunter build is top tree nightstalker i think i might have to try this sometime :)
I love specialists btw. Ran across a guy in an IB match myself running biting winds and eriana's vow. Had 10k+ kills on both weapons and absolutely DESTROYED my lobby. Tried the build myself after that but i was horrible with it lol.

I LOVE Aeger's scepter with a hand cannon. Similar concept. Except I like to use Aeger's scepter while using a stasis subclass. You freeze them, kill them with Aeger's scepter, use the fragment that causes a trail of stasis that freezes other enemies, then kill them and keep doing that. Also, with the catalyst, you can do a ton of extra damage by consuming some of your super, and basically have a hand held stasis chaos reach lol
Glad I found this video. I have a Lonesome with full auto, kill clip, and range master work. Knew it might be worth keeping one day.
I think a really slept on GL is actually deafening whisper, especially with a quick access sling. Pairs nicely with Peacebond, Fatebringer, and even your pulse of choice.
I came back to mechaneers when S of Haunted dropped and honestly the best part about the exotic isnt even the damage buff(which is also great, don't get me wrong). It's the handling increase. It means you aren't wasting precious time lugging out your gun with a shotgun ape barreling towards you.
Also, pro tip: if that ape *almost* kills you, you can swap away and back again to your sidearm before your shields regen for an auto-reload *and* that damage buff proc. Saved me more than once.

A whack build a friend introduced me to which is a lot of fun is: top tree dawn, with wings of sacred dawn and strafe glide.
Run max recov, really high resil, and really high discipline and double bomber.
Pair it with a kill clip/rampage transfig and telesto or a slug shotgun….ok hear me out. I hate telesto is much as the next guy but he doesn’t use primarily to kill people, but make them move where he wants them to or to flush them out of cover. It’s purpose is to zone and be a backup cqc option.
Basically with wings you get bonus armor (with 100 resil it’s 264 health) and perfect in air accuracy. Paired with heat rises you can float off reaaallllly whack angles and catch people off guard.
(A time that stands out in memory when I tried it was on Pacifica. I spawned C side and instantly ran past the point, popped heat rises so I can icarus dash at Mach 5 with strafe glide and hovered way off the map and started shooting them on A. You get the damage perks up and I killed most of the team which didn’t have range to combat me as I was flitting in and out of their sight line.
The game doesn’t understand this build in context of spawn locations either. As I almost wiped the team they started spawning in my sight line with kill clip and rampage up. So I was two tapping them as they spawned.)
You can shoot over a lot of people’s cover if you float right or use telesto to spray the area - making them panic or have to run away to not get blown up. You then take that opportunity to politely remove them of their head and now you can two tap from across the map with transfig.
You don’t always have to play the float gimmick either if you just push at crazy speeds from strafe glide/heat rises icarus dash with a shotgun and smg. You can still float in cqc in really weird spots with damage reduction and confuse the shit outta people.
Basically the idea is to be the annoying mosquito of death in the skybox that you poke people to death with until they get pissed off and break cover or try and challenge and they either have to play really far with snipes and scouts or push the shit out of you and you can run away or hover high and close and kill them with a slug.
(Other configurations I’ve used is kill clip servant leader/contingency plan/ep night watch/ep vouchsafe which flinches people to the moon and then just chappy/duality people from above when they get too bold.)
The first sidearm I used in pvp was devil's ruin, with mechaneer's. I almost reached 5500 that season just with that build alone in comp, having not lost games for quite a while. It'll literally carry you. No special ammo needed, just Devil's Ruin. Actually good to run with double primaries since you'll be using the "Trace Rifle" version of the gun almost 100% of the game anyways so you need something to swap to for cleanup if you whiff.
I really think you should cover Skyburners Oath. The hipfire’s not the best but fun to play with, but the ADS can 1 tap in the head with 2 body shots from when I was testing. It fell off around 80 meters.

Elastic string, draw time mw, impulse amp harmony wolftone, lucky pants, last word. It just feels so good. I legitimately can't use le monarque or point of stag because they feel so sluggish in comparison to this roll of wolftone
Wish Ender with Knucklehead radar is a disgusting combo for elimination/limited life modes. I run this setup with a friend of mine so that we can see through walls and instantly kill anyone that walks around a corner. Knucklehead radar prevents the usual flanking issues that occur when using Wish Ender.
If you want to I have a build I use myself every now and then: bottom tree arc with bombardiers and a sidearm or smg with swashbuckler. (In which case I use Punching Out) This can be paired with any long(er) range weapon of choise. (Or use a shotgun if youre really ballsy.)
Bottom tree arc for the damage resistance when dodging and disorienting blow if you ever get in a melee battle.
Fallout I recommend you try to get a good Friction Fire SMG. The zoom makes it very nice.
Oh yea. I used to rock Rat King with all of the damage buffing mods and it absolutely wrecked. I would materialize behind someone, shred them in half a second, and before anyone else could react I was already invisible and regenerating to full hp. It was nuts.

I distinctly remember topping Rumble games during Warmind with Rat King and Mechaneers lol, glad to see two of the most slept on Exotics get the love they deserve
hipfire FILO with assassins cowl and top tree arc allows for some wacky shit with invis running up punching into invis dodging increasing combination blow stacks and becoming a titan on hunter. or sunshot young ahamkaras spine allows for some insane multikills.
Oh I use this build - kinda. The whole sidearm loadout w/ top tree void hunter (my preferred class & subclass) with a kill clip Lonesome and Mechaneers. Usually paired with Bow, I haven't used it with a Trace Rifle tho!
Team mate is required but for a game mode like trials Le Monarch pairs with Lumina. The bow shot gets your target low enough to one shot with Lumina which gives you a remnant (2 w/ catalyst) and the damage buff from that makes Monarch a one-to-the-head type of gun. Even better if you have two friends running it so they both can cry a buff…

I’ve been playing a middle tree arc strider this past trials with shinobu’s vow. Then I have bolstering detonation and bomber on my armor. Along with ashes to assets. It allows ability spam and super regen fast. Adding gamblers dodge allows for the arc upper cut really clutch in situations. Add a adrenaline junkie weapon and you have a damage buff most often then none.
My son and I love lonesome. It was the first weapon that we farmed after figuring out what we wanted on it. Glad to see it get some love!
