I was very impressed when in Beijing & Shanghai that they were all properly bedded with no displacement due to on-going root & tree growth, basically not presenting any trip hazard.

In the UK, these (where they exist) are often displaced via the growth (expansion) of roots which then leads to pronounced trips, whereas in China, these seem to be absent.
