Wow! Sorin your garage door opener and mine died the same day. We had a bad thunderstorm here and lightning struck nearby - took out my garage door opener, TV, internet modem, a circuit breaker in my panel box, and an alarm clock. I found a new control board for my garage door opener on ebay and waiting for it to arrive. My transformer was very hot too but mine is built onto the main circuit board. I found an EEPROM that had 56 ohms from the VCC pin to ground. Not sure if I can just replace the chip because it may have code in it, or it could be the EEPROM that stores the program info for the remote controls. Thanks for sharing how you got yours working again!
The triac is an electronic component composed of two thyristors mounted head to tail, the two thyristors share a common terminal called the G trigger. The triac allows current to flow in both directions (each thyristor allows current to flow in only one direction) when a predetermined control current is applied to its trigger.
BT152 is an Silicon Controlled Rectifier (SCR). From what I can see in the circuit, the two burnt diodes provided power to the low voltage power section for the logic circuits. The SCR is turned on via the logic circuits and provides full DC unregulated power to the + side of the relays and probably the lamp too. When you shorted (calibrated fused) the two burnt diodes, it provided power to the anode of the larger diode which then provided power to the + side of the relays. At least that is my best guess from what I could see of the circuit in the video. Great job.
I think in this case the BT152 Thyristor is used as switch to put the positive voltage to the motor. In this case it will also help to prevent sparks in the relays. Relays are used to switch the polarity to the motor and also for switching the light bulb. The same priciples were used in my own project for double wing doors, but instead of thyristor i have used power mosfet n-channel transistors.
@@ChupoCro And If I remember correctly bridge allows to connect DC on any polarity. It's common for 24V systems to be both AC and DC so it could be this option was even specified in this garage opener documentation.

What I have to think is for door opening signaling (lights and acoustic signal used on doors in community areas or on the street to warn of door opening) is optional. Or for a emergency battery system (optional to) can open doors in powers loss. Is difficult to say without studying the board and without having the connection manual.
Maybe y lost something but the transformer have (for put simply) L1 ground L2 he only connected L1 and ground and the triac is in L2 so how can work the motor with no power in. And you don't need two of them to control the two options forward and backward. Is it connected Maybe Is a delay, is activated from the relays so you don't get a short circuit when change polarity.

@@ChupoCro Brate iskreno i meni nije jasno, sta triac radi, kad Sorinu nije jasno sve govori! Ja koliko sam provalio na vodenim pumpama sluzi za to da izdrzi inicijalno pokretanje motora dok logicko kolo pokrene relej i onda ja tricu ne vidim nikakvu svrhu poslije okidanja releja, ali je logicko kolo sigurno napojeneo preko njega na startu, naravni grec pa onda kolo, okidanjem releja sve to sjedini u jedan vod! Tzv gate na triacu je spojen na 330 oma otporniku koji je odmah u funkciji kad se napoji iz utikaca... Ja imam problem na elktronikama vodenih pumpi jer su zaljevene nekim katranom i nemam bas kopletan uvid u shemu, rovim katran do komponenti i kad vidim koja nije u redu nju zamjenim i tu zavrsavam sa istragom! Pokusat cu naci koju sliku pa mi mozda pomognes jer mi se desi nakon zamjene trica(naravno u BiH nikad ne mozes naci isti) da nekad kasni gasenje pumpe 3 minute nakon sto senzor pritiska kaze da sve treba ugasiti!
Ι fix some like that... Its garage and take over 80 car open and cose at list 10 times per our... People come and live ol time... The power its 24v. 5A and burn in 4 months... I change to 24v 15A ... 3 power supply in parallels mode its work 1 year and its fine... The motor its 12v ant take very amps in the start after that its not problems.... The Triac is probably for controlling the light separately from the motor. The light should turn on and remain on for a short while after the motor stops working.
I am thinking the same. The light is the only thing that wasnt tested due to the bulb burned out. Also the volt meter checks at the end of the repair showed insuffient voltage at the bulb socket.

It is not enough to analyze in your circuit why this was working in more info to understand but I guess BT152 it is definitely thyristor becuase of you can replace two didoe It means gate to provide voltage signal that Ac to half rectified DC into gate pin ,and then diode made potential Vf but you can change diode dead to wire and it made gate voltage more before then about 0.7V It means gate resistor and diode can make voltage divider more voltage growing up to gate Becuase of thyristor derating heatting a long time so it can need more gate threshold voltage you can make wire it is maded gate voltage more growing up well. Gate voltage it is low it make definitely not turn on thyristor but your thyristor definite in initial state in off state it means anode it is not different a lot anode -gate voltage So it is always off because your thyristor gate it is not turn on leveling it is ambiguous reaching ,so you can need More current into relay and relay can provide other diode in rectified source from anode to cathode And then if it is triac , maybe diac it is needed to your circuits but I can not find out. So it is definitely thyristor BT152-xxxB

Yup. I too replaced the transformers with SMPSs to reduce power consumption in just about every device around the house where possible/practical.

To open the garage door pull down on the emergency release cord and then lift the door and drive out.
Triac might be a soft starter.
Maybe it’s a scr. This would allow the motor to continue to run opening the door until it gets a signal to which opens the scr
