"Hymn" is a 1982 hit single from Ultravox's sixth studio album Quartet (the third studio album recorded with vocalist Midge Ure) that reached #11 on the UK Top 40 singles chart and #6 in Switzerland.
The song was written by Warren Cann, Chris Cross, Billy Currie and Midge Ure and produced by George Martin. The cover art depicts certain symbols of Freemasonry, most notably the compass and the square.
Lyrically, the song is more of a sermon than a hymn (or, at the very least, a psalm), with Midge Ure taking his lesson broadly from the Bible.

Thank you for uploading. I love it. Ultravox, and later Midge Ure .. that was extrodinary music back than... still is today. Back than (well, I was around in the 80ties) it was pure joy and amazement to listen to those guys. Those guys are legend. You turned on the radio back in the day ... and good music came out. And today...? 80ties was great all over!!

One of the most under rated bands of all time, when Midge Ure joined he brought a dynamic to the band that was different to any of that time, only Gary Numan, Tubeway Army and Visage came close, I was lucky to have seen Ultravox twice, professional and perfect, not like the shite that's squeezed out like pus from a boil that fills the airwaves these days, auto tuning and miming is the norm, talentless pretty boys and girls, it's insulting to the real bands that work their way round the circuits building a fan base and doing it real, I've done it myself, enjoyable but tough, here's to the real acts out there, keep on keeping it real, good luck to all of you.
