- "The Sweet" CO-Founder and bassist Steve Priest sadly passed away on 04.06.2020.
On 23.02.2022, which would have been Steve's 74th birthday, a 'Memorial bench unveiling ceremony' was held at the church where Steve sang as as a young boy in their choir the 'St Mary the Virgin Parish Church' in Hayes, England, UK.
It was a beautiful celebration for Steve on his birthday. Friends,fans and family we’re all there too celebrate this beautiful,talented man on his Birthday
It was a really nice celebration of Steve's life and his legancy. His memorial bench is really nice 😊
Thank you to Cheryl and Paul for organizing this. Steve deserved a memorial, held privately with people who loved him in a place that was part of him, and which was truly about him and his life, dreams and achievements. This ticked off all the boxes. Very well done, dears.
Yes, the organisers did a great job and organised a very respectful service to celebrate Steve's life and the bench is very beautiful 😊 Hope to read you on the premiere date of the video 😊

My favorite member of the band. Watching this made me choke up. Been binge watching for wks now on UA-cam of The Sweet and to catch this makes me so sad for time has done to all of us. This was very kind of you to share this and post this for all the thousands of fans to see. RIP Mr.Priest. You were greatly loved and always will be.

What a beautiful memorial for Steve. Sweet is a great band and Steve was such a stand out. His music from Steve’s Precious Poems is also great. You are missed but never forgotten.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

lovingly created by his daughter Lisa here, pity some relatives could not have attended via America, Andy could not attend as he was having a 'procedure' but he would have been there if he could. I am sure he will leave a tribute on the bench. Lisa has done her Dad proud on his birthday. When I visit from Canada I will certainly visit the bench. A lovely Church, and a great tribute. x I am sure Pat was there, Lisa's Mom...It's so lovely Lisa..When I saw the US version it was outside..lovely in it's own way but I could not hear a thing (cos of the wind)...and then it was 'Back to Maureen's??? anyways it is what it is..you did a fabulous job xxx

Yes, definetly a really lovely church, I always love those windows, which nowadays you can only find in older churches.
The bench is just outside of London,UK. So it is not to far from the main capital city 😊
