The crested lark (Galerida cristata) used to be a widespread lowland bird. Due to habitat loss, it has become an endangered bird species across Europe. Today's agricultural landscape does not suit the needs of the crested larks and many other birds and insects. Therefore seeing a crested lark's ground nest with little chicks is a very rare sight.
