    the transparent part used for the headlights is actually a few years old, its 38799 (Minifigure, Utensil Tea Saucer with Hollow Stud on Top). it only appears in 2 "sets", proffesor trelawny from the HP CMF series 1 (with a floral print) and waldorf from the Muppets CMF according to Bricklink, although i could've sworn that i've seen it in a few other sets

    Inaccuracies aside just really happy Lego got the proportions of the car right. This IMO was the biggest miss with the Aston Marten as no matter how you look at it the car is either to long or no wide enough. Interesting how the Corvette uses the a similar solution for the opening hood. Also really like they were able to get the functional steering to work on a slightly smaller scale as well as the pop up trunk feature to keep it seamless. Nice to see the roof optional with no rebuilding required. I'm also of the opinion it looks better in person as the same I think could be said for the Camaro last year which looked awful on box but in person looks great and is probably the most authentic car to date. Next year would be great to see an 80s era Ferrari in this scale.

    • @arghjayem
      @arghjayem 11 місяців тому

      Yeah I agree. Wasn’t sure about the corvette from the photos. Saw it in person at my local LEGO store and I actually quite like it. Not a must grab for me though, still too expensive, so will be waiting for either a discount from zavvi or a double VIP weekend. I think I will probably end up using it for an alternative build. Has the potential to become a nice Triumph Stag or an MGB I think, will have to see…
      I think LEGO needs to think some more about what cars it adapts to sets. It needs to think more about what’s gonna work. Curvier cars aren’t gonna work without alot of new parts as this and the DB5 have proved. The Land Rover defender is a great example of picking the right car to adapt to LEGO- boxy car=perfect for Lego! (I’ve turned my Land Rover 90 set from a 90 to a 110!).

    I think this one looks much blockier than anything before it, unfortunately. Especially the roof. And the front is very crudely shaped. Maybe if those gray parts were chromed and the headlight pieces were a bit bigger, it would look alright, but like this it is not so pleasing

    It's good to see Lego separating the windows from the other pieces. Especially with windows that big, wish they would've done that with the Ghostbusters car🤦‍♂️. Hopefully they continue to do so. Other than that, I like it, it'll make a good collection to the Mustang and Camaro. As always, your builds and opinions are greatly appreciated.

    Hey Balazs! This is not related to the video but I think it would be a really cool idea for you to do detailed building reviews on some older technic sets 1990s - 2018.
    Many of those older sets don’t have in depth reviews, even with sets like the rough terrain crane which you never featured in a full review video. I think a lot of the sets in the 2010s deserve a proper look and a lot of fans of those sets don’t have good videos on UA-cam covering those sets.
    I love your current style of detailed building reviews and would love to see this video format implemented for those older sets! I think a lot of other viewers would appreciate it as well. Love your videos and keep up the awesome work!

    So... Lego finally caught up to cobi for the tile inverted. Also really few unnecessary colors. And I like the black technic bricks. For me the proportions look somewhat strange- and the rear wheel well and the headlight section are disturbing even. New slopes for the door... but no matching slope for the rear wheel well? Strange strategy.

    I personally really wish this was the 1950's C1 with the single headlights and tailfin brakelights, though I'm still holding hope they may make that a set one day.
    I don't know why but I just think the earlier C1 Vette was a very good looking car compared to the 61 C1 the set is based on.
    I think the front of the 50's Vette also has fewer curved surfaces to replicate unlike the 61 model, and since it's a rather big.. design issue(?) with the set I think the 50's would've looked a bit better in comparison.
    My last issue is while it's not a terrible set overall I can't help but feel a little dissatisfied with the lack of accessories or alt builds the icons cars have been known to feature recently.
    The only add on is the hard top roof yet with previous icons/creator cars we've had accessories, alt versions to build and swappable parts while in this one the most we get is like 3 license plates and a hard top.

    Being the most expensive lego car at 12.4 cents a piece, one would think lego could do a more accurate job at designing the front (at least add in some chrome). Creating new pieces costs money but would add overall value to the car and can be reusable later when designing new builds. The roof isnt appealing either. Sadly this car needs to be displayed from the rear. IMO the speed champions corvette looks better.

    • @solarwalkman
      @solarwalkman 11 місяців тому

    • @brickphisto2321
      @brickphisto2321 11 місяців тому

      @@solarwalkman It's mainly the Lego Camaro's edgy sideline towards the rear. I know most people do not care about that. But for me that is a no-go. The roof section including the wrongly shaped windscreen is the other part which looks not good at all. Plus the proportions are slightly off: The Camaro should have been one stud wider. The remaining parts look good or at least decent. Maybe I am a bit harsh. I just feel they could have done better with the Camaro given that most of the other vehicles are really good sets.

    Again, I think TLG picked the wrong car to turn into a set. Really needed new pieces to create the curves to match the cars shape, I mean it’s great the did it for the side panels with those pieces but when the overall curves of the car aren’t there? 🤔🤷 Still this is better than the DB5. Will pick it up, but not right away (especially at the rrp).
    I think there are cars out there that are much better suited to being recreated in Lego. The Land Rover was a perfect example of the right car to choose (even though I which they’d done a new windshield piece to better match the look rather than printing on an existing one) it’s a pretty close to a perfect LEGO car model.
    It’s funny because looking at this set from certain angles, it looks more like a Sunbeam Alpine than it does a corvette, could be a good alternative build for this set perhaps?
