    In this video I'll show you the basic workflow I use to design, simulate and model basic Mechanisms in Fusion 360.
    The workflow is simple and extremely efficient. The workflow is flexible and can be used to work iteratively between developing the mechanism and updated your model in Fusion 360. You can use the same principles for any other CAD software as well.

    Your pacing is really good--I believe this is the only 20+ minute video about CAD I've seen where I *didn't* feel like I had to skip ahead. Thanks for sharing your workflow!

    great video, is the big advantage in the gim software, that you can just draw out the links without having to extrude, then point joints, just to check motion. I find that very cumbersome in fusion. I am no expert please forgive me if I'm wrong. I am always having to figure out goofy hinges for mechanisms I build. Thank you

    nice video, can you design mechanisms that have "intermittent motion" like a Geneva wheel for example. Motion where parts move at different times but interact with each other ?

    Ok, this video was TREMENDOUSLY IMPORTANT for my workflow!!! I use Shapr3D on iPad Pro and I realized that with the proper constraints and the correct use of Transform tools, I can do the same Kinematic four bar linkages that you're doing in Fusion360, with realtime dynamic interaction. (I also had not realized that I could do that in Fusion360.)
    Having that capability, and having it portable on the iPad means that I can quickly play with linkage concepts from anywhere.
    Thank you SO MUCH for sharing your insights. All of your mechanical engineering videos are exceptionally well done and informative.
    I certainly hope you can find the time to share more of your mechanical design insights and experience with us.

      Oh wow, Gregg. I have actually moved away from Mechanical Engineering to Software engineering for almost a year now! 😅

      thanks Mahmoud, shortly after posting my comment, I found and purchased your Udemy course; Designing Mechanisms using Fusion 360.
      It taught me Exactly what I needed to know, in order to design precise four bar linkages.
      When I think of the time I have spent searching Google and UA-cam videos for this info, your Udemy course is like finding treasure. Thank you for putting it all together so clearly and concisely for your audience.

    Thank you for this! I'm wondering why you need GIM as it seems that fusion can do the same type of simulation. Is there something that you can do in GIM that fusion can't do?

      What he explained in some courses that I took with him was that it can't simulate 2d animation. Also it won't help you figure out kinematics for you either. Fusion 360 haves multibody dynamics but not kinematics.

    loved your courses in udemy. So I do not have any background in mechanical engineering and wanted to ask you what would I have to learn to be able to design a mechanism and ultimately a working kinetic machine?

    I do not like how Udemy uses "Scare Sales" or "Uregency Marketing" tactics and would rather not give them any of my $$. Do you or can you offer your course on another platform? I would be happy to purchase it through a provider with better morals when it comes to sales. If not I understand however I will not purchase through Udemy. Feels too much like dealing with a dirty car salesman... =\

    I am a newbie to fusion360 so excuse me if I didn't understand the purpose of using a separate program to change your dimensions. Couldn't you just do it with the parameters command in fusion360 similar to the example below?

      Hi John,
      Thanks for your comment. The separate software is very very powerful. It can help you simulate and design many many mechanisms. This is just and introduction to the workflow. Next I will show you how to use this workflow to make coupler curves mechanism. I'm taking this step by step. You can check my Udemy course on making a kinetic sculpture intro video. You can see how I managed to use this workflow to design Sisyphus and animate him. Then things would make more sense. In short it's not only about changing the dimensions, It's about designing a specific output
