Can you adjust difficulty setting in the arcade versions?
Are you going to do a video on the Split Pad Compact Hori put out? I like how it can actually fit in the dock. And I HOPE the sticks don't have the same drift issue the ones on the Split Pad Pro have (Seriously frustrated THAT is the thing they have in common with the Joy-Cons)

I am no Strictly Limited fanboy, but I have to state that they are working HARD to change their reputation. I have my copy of Turrican in hand (it's great BTW) and it seems like they are making a serious effort to improve. With all the BS of Super Rare, Premium Edition, Red Art Games, and Limited Run lately, it is really nice to see a company improving. The aforementioned companies seem happy to say that we are lucky they exist, while SLG is working hard to listen to their customers.
I recently made an order with them and they sent me a mini book showing all their releases. 165 pages so it was a pretty nice little free gift to receive.
Are you insinuating that there is something wrong with those other companies? Because I've bought numerous games from Limited Run for over 4 years now, and not once have they done me wrong.
@@JMFSpike I'm not insinuating anything, rather directly stating. Red Art Games and Premium Edition have both lied about the 'pre-order only' exclusivity of their products (Nongunz and A Robot Named Fight respectively)thus perpetuating the problems around FOMO in the collectors community. SuperRare is in some hot water with their 'Physical Only' series (again FOMO). Limited Run is more complicated, and I will always have a soft spot after the Wii U Axiom Verge solution, however, the issues surrounding holding product back to sell in their Brick and Mortar store cannot be ignored. Add to that the recent 'cancel culture' controversy (not my place to get into it) and there are definitely some concerns. For what it's worth, I've spent well over $10,000 at Limited Run Games, so yes, I do feel that I can offer a relevant opinion.
I thought Limited Run and Strictly Limited are the same company?
@@richardfan7157 Strictly limited is a European company who specialises in releasing classic games on newer systems. They have some good stuff that was originally Japan exclusive etc.
I think fan gamer might be the same as limited run.
The Wonder Boy series is like The Fast and the Furious franchise, many iterations and most likely more to come.

I have been on the fence on picking up this collection, as I already own each of these games in some shape or form, but it would cool to have all the variations and all in one spot.

But since I got an OLED Switch with that Fixture stand, it would be neat to see what the games look like. I'll wait for a sale, though.

What? I'm a person who's built many PCs and I don't remember there being an engine so can you explain? I know about graphics cards and CPUs and hard disk drives and stuff but I've never heard of an engine before. Unless you're talking about like a rendering engine for video game or something ya hope I g this collection is on Steam so I can play it on my Deck.
I'll buy the PS4 digital version when the price lowers.
I really like this video. The Wonder Boy/Monster World series is one of the most confusing series in gaming, and this video with the side by side comparisons helps get around some of that confusion.
that is understandable but they altered the games over time for difference so the series wouldn't get stale and lose sales. The Original was the best but repeating the same thing over and over wasnt the best way to go. Tom-Tom and his female counterpart had to evolve to keep player's interest at the time
I did order the Wonder Boy Anniversary collection from Strictly Limited. I'll also be picking this up digitally, once it has a decent discount.

Seriously agree. For those who don't know how much of a different beast Adventure Island could get compared to its Wonder Boy roots. Super Adventure Island 2 has things in common with Zelda 2 on the NES (Like an overworld map. But thankfully. It doesn't have things like a life system)
I think this is pretty cool.
It's funny to see adventure island here as well as wonder boy like these games don't even play that similar. One is a side scrolling rpg and the other is an auto runner where you collect fruit to extend your play time.

If I buy this one do I need to get monster boy and the cursed kingdom and wonder boy the dragon trap I’ve been confused with wonder boy collection.
After the botched original release for PS4, I was over the moon to find out they had fixed the controls for the first two games in this version of the collection and immediately downloaded this version for my PS5. A fantastic collection and well worth the money.
Are both wonder boy remix versions on this collection? Both Nintendo switch and PS4 have 2 different versions of wonder boy remix if I'm not mistaken

Thank you but being honest this didn't make my decision to buy or not any easier, hahaha. Especially since I have a working Master System and Dragon's Trap complete in box. Not sure if I still have OG Wonderboy. I could always get the Monster World games for Genesis that I didn't want to buy for like $50 in 1990 ... I dunno, what does that run nowadays loose? Hahaha.
Lets hope Sega license out all their arcade and console ports and have more of these compilation packs. Seeing as they can't be bothered doing it themselves..

No. Just the Nintendo games are adventure island. There’s still wonder boy on Sega consoles
on one hand i am miffed bc my copy i ordered all the way back in may 2022 from strictly limited hasnt even SHIPPED yet and they have audacity to release digital versions (shouldn't the people who supported the physical release first be served first?)
but on the other hand i am glad this collection is no longer locked away behind exploitative fomo tactics and can serve a much wider and accessible audience.

I know this is an impressive collection. But for 50 bucks on the eshop? NO! It's not the worst collection in recent years pricewise (The Turrican Anthologies both together cost 70 bucks. And. The bundle for the Battle Network collections will be 60 dollars despite not having the DS version of 5. Which they could've added. I mean they made a DS emulator for the Zero/ZX Legacy Collection. But I digress) But I'm still going to wait for a sale. I mean I already have the remake of 3 Lizard cube & Dotemu put out on Switch & PC (PC version was from when it was free on the Epic store) As well as Wonder Boy in Monster World and Monster World IV on the first Genesis Mini. So. I can wait.
It's good to hear you had a good experience with Strictly limited games. For me personally , it's left a bad taste of my mouth, it took them two years to ship the special edition Wonder Boy 4 to me.
Never ordered from them, so no never had a good experience with them as a customer. But as someone who has been critical of them and they choose to still be friendly and work with me, yes thats been good.
Dang, I didn’t know there was a Monster Boy collection exist. Too bad that they didn’t include any other versions that were released outside of Sega Consoles like Dragon’s Curse on TurboGrafx-16 for example since that was one of the successful Wonder Boy games outside of Sega Consoles.
Also, I might be not getting them on full price since I do have the last two Monster Boy games on Sega Genesis Mini 1 and got the Monster Boy in Monster Lair as Sega Ages.
I remember Wonder boy 3 Monster Lair on the Arcade was the Dymatic hero on PC engine and it had a kicking soundtrack along with beefed up gameplay on CD which was 1 of the best arcade ports but sadly Japan only. The Genesis version was decent but they altered the levels mid way into the game from the arcade. Points for being Original but not the same as the arcade port on PC engine. Also the ending music kinda sounded haunting on the Genesis whereas on the PC Engine it sounds like music you hear on your holiday. Both awesome and the game sold me on the Genesis at the time
That's because those versions were developed by Hudson Soft. Meaning they would have to get Konami's permission to make a collection for them. And heck. Adventure Island which started off as one of those became its own franchise. So. It can get its own collection (Or two)
Hey MLP. No Xbox or PC version? What a shame as I would have bought this. Fortunately I own most of these games both physical and digital but it would have been nice for a full collection of this.

Unfortunately for me, I'm not that interested in Wonder boy, but to each it's own, I just never really cared about the games as a child, and even no more so as an adult.
