      Very underrated film. Of course it's very silly and bizarre, but still a fun watch. Lincoln killing vampires was less of a stretch than lincoln's wife being hot. Seriously, look her up, she looked the spitting image of john goodman, but in the film she was hot

      Sam Blankenship With your field of study being concentrated on US Presidents shouldn't you already know all of this, at least a majority of it? Why would this video make you feel further educated on this subject matter..? I don't see how one feels educated watching something they've already learned/knew prior to this video. Maybe you should have said that feel you're feeling refreshed on this subject. That's a dumb ass field to be putting the majority of your time into, what job do you plan on getting with you majoring in the history of US Presidents lmao.

      The 10th President of the United States, John Tyler, was born in 1790 and still has two living grandchildren. And one of them is 84-year-old Harrison Tyler, born 138 years after his grandfather.

    • @Matthew_Troll
      @Matthew_Troll 4 роки тому +63

      Yep, that's true both John Tyler (born in 1790) and his son Lyon were married twice. Both having children with their first wives and then after their first wives died they remarried and had children with their second wives. John Tyler actually had the most children of any president at 15, 8 with his first wife and 7 with his second (who was 30 years his junior). He was 63 when he had his 5th child with his second wife Lyon. Lyon (born in 1853) had 6 children of his own, 3 with his first wife and 3 with his second wife. Lyons second wife gave birth to Lyon Jr. in 1924 (when he was 71) and she then gave birth to Harrison in 1928 (when he was 75).
      Its pretty crazy when you think about it but men having children at an old age is not unheard of. 1790 was "only" 229 years ago so the fact that Lyon Jr. is 95 (god bless his soul) and Lyon Sr. was 71 when he had him and President Tyler was 63 when Lyon was born spans that gap in just three generations.
      President Tyler lived to be 71 with 19th century medicine and Lyon Sr. Lived to be 81 with early 20th century medicine so there are obviously some good genetics at play with Lyon Jr. still alive at 95 and Harrison is also still kicking at 91 with 21st century medicine.
      One really cool way to look at it is the George Washington (the first president) was president when John Tyler was born and FDR (the 32nd president) was president when Lyon Sr. died. That father and son got to experience everything from George Washington's FIRST term to the great depression. The invention of electricity , photography, trains, cars, and airplanes, the War of 1812, Civil War, and WWI just to name a few key points. Both Lyon Jr. and Harrison have gotten to see men step foot on the moon and the invention of the internet since then. It's pretty amazing when you frame it that way.

    • @KOakaKO
      @KOakaKO 7 років тому +15

      Politicians, as a whole, have to social creatures... interacting with people all day, every day, is sort of their job description. But to be a president, you have to be the sort of person who will throw themselves in front of an entire stadium full of sports fans - shouting and dancing and chanting... until that entire stadium loves to watch what you do. A popular and successful cheerleader is the BEST choice of person to run for president.
      People say that actors have a "special gift" of convincing the people watching that what they do is "real", rather than being filmed on a stage at a studio. Top-level politicians absolutely have to learn a similar skill, to stand in front of a large crowd of people and use words, passion, antics, etc., to convince that large group of people to like who they are.
      THAT is how you become president. Not through any knowledge, or skill, regarding the actual job you have to eventually do. You get elected by making people LIKE you. I've seen countless interviews of people who disagreed with Bill Clinton politically, and they all say to the camera/interviewer that (in personal conversations) Bill could make you really LIKE him, as an individual, even if you severely disagreed with him on some political topic.

    Growing up in the same town as Reagan you find that a certain generation remembers him and will tell stories. One of my grandmothers favorites is one she tells whenever we walked past the plaque saying how many people Reagan saved as a lifeguard. Short version is that the single ladies really wanted an excuse to talk to "that handsome devil". I guess pretending to be drowning was easier than doing whatever courtship ritual people did back then. So did he save people, probably. Was it 111 like the plague's say, not even close.

    It was unknown at the time of his birth whether Chester A. Arthur had been born in Northern Vermont, or in Canada. Apparently, his birthplace was so close to Canada many people accused him of being Canadian. His wife also died shortly before he was chosen as Vice-President.
    He also hid the fact that he was ill with Bright's Disease his last year in office. He died soon after Grover Cleveland took office.

      Agreed, we get some education about the U.S., but nothing that really details all the presidents. Like, obviously our own Canadian history and leadership gets prioritized, which is totally logical and fair, but it is nice to learn about other countries, especially fun facts like this! It actually makes me miss Heritage Minutes XD Because they were regularly repeated, you really got the info memorized. It's like a short documentary clip from a UA-cam video, but as a commercial, for those reading this and wondering what Heritage Minutes were, lol! Considering how many presidents there were for the U.S., I think that same format would be good to help teach the public as it is a very effective yet super passive learning format. : )

      They leave out a lot on this channel. If you haven’t already I’d check out lindybeige’s channel he is very unbiased and a well of knowledge. Plus his channel of 1 mill subs has very little advertisement.

      What video suggestions we see is based on our viewing history. *You* yourself are the reason UA-cam is "promoting" this channel to you.
