MrGridPixel true but it's so dam common now not really unique like 80% of 86s at meets (in Seattle at least) and I feel like it's more form over function. This looks nice and clean imo
I'm all for it if it's functional. Unlike the ricers that demenish it by putting on a hard park car. Then they use massive spacers instead of wider wheels and never do any performance driving to justify the body kit lol. By ricers I mean R.I.C.E. = Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements. I.e. this car now is a straightliner, so you can have less fun with it unlike the stock one on canyon roads where it can put a smile on your face 99% of the time.
Kendall Young Personally I think it's way too much power for the car and now it's pretty much a drag car but it's still really cool and a damn impressive build. 300whp is probably the most I'd want in an FRS/BRZ.
You say that but you would get used to it lol. My focus st was cool at 300whp... but then it became 370, then 450 lool. Still has great drivability and not much lag at allwith the EFR turbo
Ben Oliver Yeah but you are comparing relatively low hp at 450 to a car in the 1000's. I have driven high HP road cars are they are not so fun on the twisting roads of NZ. But maybe in the States there are mostly just long straights?
Thats a myth. Probably went that way because he had an expensive ported/polished 1jz head laying around from a 1jz engine. Lots of 1jz guys keep it if they already had headwork done on their previous 1jzgte engine, but want more displacement so they go 2jz block.
rtcmanga It'll practically be a sleeper when others think it's only 200HP and underestimate it for looking stock af, but then they'll get eaten alive lol
Looking around and I havent found very many reasons for the 1J head on the 2J block, apart from if you already have a 1J and go for the larger bore block. Any reasoning behind his head choice? Some are saying it may flow better but no actual evidence
I have also see some controversial evidence. Some say it does flow better, some say it doesn't. However, from personal experience, it's very very hard to find a "virgin" 2JZGTE head on the market, so this could be a reason is that it is easier to find a 1J head in case he hurts this one (stuff happens when you make big power).
Glad to see tuners actually getting boosted and swaps instead of ppl aiming for RB or LB Kits and big wings...once I supercharged my 3.0L I never looked back to n/a motor...
My BRZ only has full exaust catless header back and drop in air filter and i cant get traction... I dont see how your going to get traction will 1200 horse power, solid axle swap?
But how does the engine swap affect the performance, I wonder. As in the steering and holding. The way the FA20 was designed was with performance in mind, that the energy kept the car feeling planted to the road thanks to the boxer engine. So how does the 2JZ feel? Does it change the over all feel of the car? I'd expect so but would love to hear thoughts and feelings.
s70driver2005 I would think that you watched the whole video.... they don't have the right set up to hit on the gas like that....maybe he needs more time or money...in the mean time, where's your car?

sick setup. makes me miss my 1j mk3 supra. my only gripe, is that the second he hits full boost, hes already at the top of the rev range. unless he is just shifting early.. too big of a turbo?
No, the more rubber you have the better. Usually people go for large rims just for the looks, or to fit bigger brakes but low profile tyres actually perform worst

For a decent shape 2JZ (block and head) you're looking at about 6 grand for the engine alone. Then you need fuel system, subframe, wiring harness, and a million other things! I'd say you could pull a swap like this off for about 50 grand
Don't let this distract you from the fact that Hector is going to be running 3 Honda Civics with spoon engines. And on top of that, he just went into Harry's, and he ordered 3 T66 turbos, with NOS. And a Motec exhaust.
How much does it cost to do that. I have no clue how to install an entire new engine so cost of engine plus installing it plus nee clutch and whatever else ?
Yeah, alot of car companies do that, they take one car and just remodel it and slap their logo on it and sell it. Make a couple changes so they dont copy write other companies, some companies even sell the blueprints to other companies. But all three are almost the same car, but i think the subaru make a little more hp not sure tho
Just think if u had the 2jz head that flows better on there. I am doing the same thing minus the getrag, and the 1jz head and the e85. I am doing c16, 2jzgte head and cd009. Nice set up
I'd put that engine in an ae86, mx5 or supra. Brz/86s are supposed to have super low centre of gravity, hence the boxer engine, the top of the actual block is lower than the top of the wheels, making it a beast at cornering at high speed. Yeah it's still got that cornering chassis but inlines are so top heavy
Look how fucking simple this looks. No cosmetics whatsoever. Just rims and that beautiful 2JZ engine. Top 10 cars I've seen on here.
1:35 damn, that line's so smooth... tuner level: God
The best thing about this car is that it's not on the rocket bunny band wagon.
With rocket bunny, tbh he could probably get better grip with his tires because he can buy wider wheels

Why use a 1JZ head? Is there an advantage over using a complete 2JZ?

Some forum said 1JZ head have higher flow , some forum said 2JZ head flows more air per minutes ... really don't know who's right & who's wrong .
Compression reasons? People used to put 305 heads on a 350 sbc back in the day for more compression. Seems counterintuitive for a turbo build.
