Everyone is talking about how Daisy and Tom screwed over Gatsby. Gatsby was not screwed over by anyone. He was blinded by love and forgot that Daisy was a married women with a child. If he opened his eyes a little bit, he would have seen that Daisy still loves Tom. But the reality of it is that everyone in this story screwed over Nick Carraway. He was just a pawn they used as it pleased them. No one cared about him or his opinions. Gatsby befriended him to get closer to Daisy; Daisy was close to him because he knew Gatsby; Tom befriended him so he can have someone he can go out and party with and show his superiority. Nick was the true gentleman that put others before himself. He was the only man that worried about others even after their death. I guess it goes to show that true kindness goes unnoticed more often than not. P.S. Great movie and acting by the way.

everyone complaining about the music choice is proving exactly why it was used. when we today hear jazz, we think of an old fashioned smoky jazz club, which is a nice bit of nostalgia but not the "feel" the movie or book was going for. try to remember that the great gatsby was written in the 1920s, it was a reflection of modern times, not a look back in the past, which makes it NOT a period piece. Fitzgerald wasn't trying to evoke a "this is the 1920s" feeling, he was evoking a "this is the crazy, modern, fast paced, party obsessed world today's rich are living in" feeling. when people of the 1920s heard jazz, it was provocative and risqué. it inspired young people to dance and go a little crazy. it pissed off the older people, the majority of whom thought it was annoying and nonsensical and vapid, which is exactly the reactions people have to today's pop and hip hop. the creators of the movie wanted to capture THAT feeling, the one that played a much larger role in the story than jazz's "the 1920s really sounded like this!" would have
Well they mixed “can’t stop,” which is a horrible song in any era, with an off beat jazz trumpet in the wrong key so I can see why people hate it. Plus, the the hip hop evokes a sense of digital age modernism and not 1920s modernism, so I think it failed there too
Haven´t seen the movie yet but planning to do so soon. From the novel I didn´t really got the impression that Daisy was a bitch per se... but more the general feel that fate always seems to work devious that in the end true soulmates never really get the opportunity to end up happy together. But everyone that saw the movie seems to have gotten the feeling that Daisy is a bitch... interesting...
I genuinely love this film, it introduced me to the book when I was in fifth grade when it first came out and I haven’t gone a year without rereading the book or rewatching the movie since-the book is superior, but this film will always hold a special place in my heart, right next to its source material.
I'm looking through my notes that i have on you @Sameer Kumar and it says right here, that you didn't reread the book or rewatch the movie in 2015 or 2016. I've been watching you... So, i guess that makes you a liar in your comment, here, don't it?
Did anyone read The Great Gatsby by choice? I'm seeing comments from people that have to read it in school and talking about it like it's a chore. I love books and reading and wish there were more people that actually enjoyed the book instead of talking about it like some kind of project that they want rid of.
+CastleFlameGal I am neither American nor English. I am not even an English native yet I read this in English and in my mother tongue by my own choice, twice. I do not know how people spend their time without getting bored if they do not read books and they think reading books is a boring chore-like duty to do. Spending time only on Facebook? On Twitter? Too bad for them.
I'm like the Person above me. I am from Germany and it is one of my favourite books, I read it by Choice 3 or 4 times in English now and also decided to dedicate my High School term paper too it. Even though that meant I had to analyse it to the core i still love and worship it, and I can't Imagine that anyone, who actually likes to read wouldnt. However, it really is sad to see, how many people think reading is a torment and boring. It's all about the Internet nowadays, which makes so many People really ignorant and dull, and me pretty sad
johane xo Leo doesn't NEED an Oscar. It's marketing BS, and Leo is #1 even without the "award." You don't have to put "Best Actor" next to Leo's name to sell a movie, it's completely superfluous, you just need Leo's name.
I finally realized why I love this movie so much. Its not about the story, its the visuals, the colors, the image of the film. They are just so perfect. What an enjoyable 2 hours I have had. If you love movies you must watch this one. Movies are not books, they are meant to be watched.
Just read the book, the trailer seems like a fair enough representation of what I read. Glad to see the actress got Daisy's voice right, since it was such a huge part of her description.
New drinking game: 1. Make some friends watch Great Gatsby with you. 2. Whenever Gatsby says "old sport", you all drink a shot of whiskey. 3. The one who wins will be the one who survives without alcohol poisoning.
This is one of the best movies , I've seen. Mainly because Gatsby represents THAT hope for love in each one of us. When I was listening to his words about Daisy, it was like hearing my thoughts..Not to mention that all the soundtracks were huge hits..

Mohamed Abousserhane this movie was horrible. Did you listen to the music?! The movie is based in the past and it comes out with music from 3 years ago!
I studied the novel by F.Scott Fitzgerald in Grade 11 English and then watched the movie and it makes so much more sense and has such a more deeper meaning to it. Don’t just say you hate parts of it without realizing the amazing ness to EVERY.SINGLE.MOMENT in this movie.
I just can't get over with this trailer, I've been watching it every year since its release. "Love is Blindness" fits perfectly and the editing is beyond amazing. I love this film, even though it got too much hate. I wish people could see it's worth.
The Ugly Truth About Being Someone’s Second Choice When They Were Always Your First. Like Gatsby, I was someone's second choice while he was always my priority. He had the perfect ability of making you feel important while he acted otherwise. And It hurt like hell. You don’t seem to be enough for them no matter how much you try. You are always available and you think that’s the problem. They take you for granted because you can’t say ‘No’ to them. They always expect you to understand because you say it’s okay all the time. Sometimes you wish you were tougher. Like if one day they came running to you again and you’re suddenly no longer there for them. You wish you can turn your back. But you can’t. Because you know exactly how it feels to be rejected. You know how it feels to be set aside. You know how it feels to be left out for something MORE than you. You know how it feels to be in that situation and if anything, you don’t want anyone to experience the pain of it. I'm 6 years in this pain. I had enough. Love is action, not words. I want someone to know how to love.
Omg thank you all for your support!!! HAPPY update: yes, I ended the toxic relationship and it was the best decision. Never looked back, even when he wanted me back. Now I'm with someone that I can't believe how lucky I'm to met him. He is the one! So my message is, never settle for less, look for someone exactly as you imagine him/her to be. Better be happy alone, than miserable with someone. Take care everyone! I hope you all find love by start giving it to yourselves first. That's what I did, and that's why it worked. ♡
Im with you there. All the kids at my school constantly whine and complain about how boring everything is while I can get interested in just about anything as long as it isn't math which is generally boring to most.
YES THANK YOU! I read this book 2 years ago by choice and although I found the first half a bit dull the second half was brilliant. I wish people would appreciate a good book instead of thinking they are cool for saying they are being forced to read.
+CastleFlameGal Exactly. I don't care if you don't like it, I just think if a lot of students would spend their time trying to understand the book and the meaning/message behind it and what Fitzgerald was getting at rather than complaining about reading, maybe they would actually appreciate it and learn more.
Only unintelligent small minded losers didn’t enjoy this film ! A bunch of idi0ts who can’t comprehend these types of films and just like explosions, guns, cars, etc. Basically any film that makes them “think” to use their brains is no good ! 😂..
I have a huge place in my heart for this film, I saw it in the cinema with my parents upon release. I was 18 and absolutely captivated by the presentation and soundtrack/score. I remember being thrown into this world and then gut struck by the ending and the huge lesson the story teaches the audience. That lesson being is that a dream can lead you to your grave and love can blind you from the truth.
+Pinksparklees I responded politely to your other comment, but considering you said that the book wasn't even good, and only the movie was, just doesn't feel like you have a real, deep appreciation for classic, meaningful, literature. This person probably read the book and loved it(like just about everyone else, apparently not kids because they don't know great writing when they see it yet) Movies are hardly never better than the books. This one certainly wasn't. It was awesome. But the book was way better. I'm sorry that you (a high schooler most likely) need predictable action packed 21 century books that, honestly, compared to f. Scott Fitzgeralds writing skills, is horrible. No disrespect towards the newer books. Doesn't mean I would never give them a try, but the great Gatsby and many other older books have something that the newer books don't have; character. Even though many of the kids think they have character, they seriously lack in that category. No disrespect to you either!
Jane Doe Now that I think about it your right, F. Scott Fitzgerald was a genius to come up with such a compelling plot and I do appreciate the meaningful literature. It's just that the book lacks the glitz and the glam of what people expect in the 21st century but the movie incorporates that factor.
I LOVE Baz Lurhmann's directing style, and the way he can depict any period in time on-screen with brilliance and somehow modernise it so it is more appealing to contemporary audience, whilst simultaneously making a bold and artistic statement. I saw this movie with my Mum when it came out in theatres, who was skeptical about the use of modern music and the casting choice of Leonardo DiCaprio (my absolute favourite actor). By the end, she was in tears, in love with the film. We ended up seeing it again another two times. Anyone who has never seen this should definitely give it a chance. Lurhmann took a risk with this magnificent piece of American literature, but that risk sure paid off. :)
Not exactly a trophy wife. His love turned into an obsession and he wanted to go back in time to how they were before he left. However, he didn't realize that it was impossible and that time couldn't wait for him.
***** Not sure what book you read. Gatsby could have had any woman he wanted by the time he settled to a life of luxury, and an unmarried woman would have certainly suited much better if all he wanted was a trophy wife, but those weren't his motivations.
If my grandmother's still alive, she'd be cursing Daisy to death. Yeah, that's how my grandma reacts to every villain that she sees if she's still alive.
I really could feel how intense Daisy's love for Gatsby was. The actress did her character much justice. It's a shame though, that Daisy Buchanan couldn't overcome her self loathing relationship, and her materialistic view on the world.
The funny thing is in real life ppl would've done exactly the same as daisy did..... Reality is tragedy but we always predict happy endings as if its guaranteed. 2020 who's here ✨
Yeah... it’s Human nature, never changed since 3000 years ago! Guys should have known from the start what Daisy was gonna do. Tom had it under control and he was the real winner
@@RandomAwesomeism no, Tom's mistress died, and his wife had cheated on him. Daisy was the real winner, she got to keep her wealth, her family, her status, her freedom and name clear after killing a human being, getting rid of the mistress she so detested. She got to enjoy the thrill of being with another man without giving him ANYTHING in return. And, most of all, she got to carry on with her pretentious life without the slightest guilt on her conscience about the THREE deaths she had caused or any other of her misdeeds. She's a horrible person, but nevertheless the true winner.
Beautiful representation of human reality. We laugh and enjoy the company of people or a friend when everything's OK. But when his/her life is socially challenged or questioned because of a single-malicious-rumour; we forget everything about him/her, to the point that attending his/her funeral becomes a curse to us.
This movie made me go from someone who was disinterested reading the book in English class... ...to someone that just fell full blown in love with the story of Gatsby. This movie...and many select people will agree with me....was amazing. And changed everything I ever knew or thought about the Great Gatsby.
"He hadn't once ceased looking at Daisy and I think he revalued everything in his house according to the measure of response it drew from her well-loved eyes. Sometimes, too, he stared around at his possessions in a dazed way as though in her actual and astounding presence none of it was any longer real." - The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald.
Honestly, this movie is a cinematic masterpiece. Anyone who doesn't appreciate Baz Luhrmann's work is narrow-minded because THIS is to the beauty of filmmaking. Give that man an Oscar already!!!!
I'm tired of the bad comments about this movie, especially pertaining to the music. If you don't understand why this music was used, then you do not understand film styles. It is used many times in movies intentionally.. Look at Quentin Tarantino's Django. It was the same exact concept. It adds something to the film and is a certain style that actually works very well with this film.
such a captivating movie . with an elegance of it's own . I sure hope to experience another film like "the great Gatsby" again . because I was drown to this world of wonderful charms and different kinds of people who live to be surfaced again to realty of the touching End
Lots of people seem to say that the movie wasn't very good but I enjoyed it a lot. The acting was overall great in my opinion and the setting was very intriguing. There were changes but nothing major enough change the story itself. Overall good interpretation of the book.
Psychological assessment: daisy is narcissist, Gatsby a people pleaser (codependent), and finally Daisy's husband has borderline personality disorder. Daisy was attracted to the BPD because narcissist love the challenge and drama of the BPD, Gatsby was the self sacrificial people pleaser so they typically love narcissists.
SPOILER ALERT: I'm surprised they didn't put in Gatsby's funeral. It was a major part, since no-one turned up for his funeral except from Nick, the servants, Gatsby's Dad and Owl Eyes. It really does illustrate the destruction of the american dream, how nobody even cared for him apart from those who attended and the materialistic upper class society in the 1920's. To be honest, i didn't find the movie that good- it wasn't good, nor was it bad. It was one of those o.k movies. :l The best bit about it was Leo's acting.
If I remember the book correctly near the end Gatsby's father I believe it was gave Nick a possession of Gatsby, I think it was a notebook or something in where one could see how Gatsby at an early age strives to be a better man, it was a great revelation to me in the book and I don't think it made it to the film which was a big downer for me. But I'm not too sure, I don't remember this movie very well.
Lpedraja2002 Are you talking about the bit which has Gatsby's routine down? I'm not sure if he gave it to Nick, I think he was trying to portray his sons 'admirable' qualities.
I had to read this novel the summer before my junior year in high school. I hated it and barely finished. But my teacher absolutely LOVED this book, so we (and I am not exaggerating) spent the first nine weeks of school analyzing this short novel. We looked into all this novel's different themes, symbols, allusions, etc. But we also researched F. Scott Fitzgerald's life and the culture of the 1920s. By the time we took that final test over The Great Gatsby, I could truly appreciate why this novel is so highly regarded. Now, years later, I find all new things to appreciate about The Great Gatsby. For instance, now that I have read more, I can see how truly brilliant and superior Fitzgerald's prose is compared to almost every other author I have read. That man could write. I guess what I am trying to say is that this is a brilliant book, but it could seem boring if you are too young to appreciate it, not an avid book reader, or do not have a teacher that can spend the time needed to show you how outstanding this novel is. Sadly, many high schoolers fit all three of these criteria, so this masterpiece is seen as another boring book that school forces them to read, and that is sad.
One of the most amazing books every written, especially in the 1920s. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad are some of my favorite books ever written in the early 20th century.
Seeing this trailer in 2012 in IMAX 3D was surreal, especially that first shot of Leo through the window.... genuinely one of the most memorable 'movies are reaching a new visual tier' moments since the first trailers for Spider-Man or Lord Of The Rings. Can't wait to rewatch the film in 4K this summer for the 100th anniversary of the summer of '22.
This is why people always says that, you should put yourself first before others. Love can be blinding, it could lead you to your destruction. Even when somebody said that they loved you, it’s not guaranteed that they’d never hurt you. Because at the end, people will always choose whatever is best for them and their wellbeing, even when they cost you your life.
Sally Hope she chose tom because tom promised her the “escape” from her crimes, and she got child with him. While gatsby, was her past.. although she seemed to love him, but she was always quite unsure if a life with gatsby was what she really wanted. So at the end, she chose her own happy endings, even when it cost other people’s misery.
All of the party he gave to ppl. All of excitement enjoyment pleasure etc. No one trully cared for gatsby except nick. I really really hated the scene where no one came on his funeral. Even daisy didnt show up. Imagine if that will happen to you too.
I loved the movie, it creates a time bridge that constantly takes us back and forth in time, inward and outward of ourselves. Constantly reminding us of the mistakes, misfortunes, the troubles, the madness we put ourselves through to find that green light.. It brings out the weakness of human character, how we just stand there when things fall apart. How we amazingly adapt and fail to adapt, relive our errors and make egregious ones countlessly in our lives and never learn or probably are never meant to learn.... Classic tragedy.. Baz is great, Leo is amazing.. He is now above and beyond an Oscar..
Some Jordan Baker/Elizabeth Debicki appreciation here. I remember being captivated by Jordan Baker character the first time I saw this trailer/movie and I didn't even know who Debicki was back then. She looked immensely captivating, statuesque, and authentic, like a postcard, she feels like the embodiment of 1920s aesthetics and spirit in my eyes. Mysterious, aloof, confident, cynical and intriguing. She stole every scene she was in. Great actress, great movie.
This movie was beautifully done. I've always wondered what Fitzgerald would think if he saw this. He died thinking that his book was a flop.

One of the best movies I've ever seen! Seriously, it's just so beautiful even though I didn't like the end!
xElysian17 the end just completely diverted from the book
Brayden Procter the 1979 version was better in my opinion. Pretty much everything in the book was in the movie.
V hahhaha
Indeed
@@natelastname5472 lol I agree
I genuinely love this film, it introduced me to the book when I was in fifth grade when it first came out and I haven’t gone a year without rereading the book or rewatching the movie since-the book is superior, but this film will always hold a special place in my heart, right next to its source material.
What??? I haven’t read the book, thank u!! I’ll have to read it now!
@@db4695 Did you not know it was a book? Lmao
So You like crap. This book was a chore to read. I've read better comics then this
I'm looking through my notes that i have on you @Sameer Kumar and it says right here, that you didn't reread the book or rewatch the movie in 2015 or 2016. I've been watching you... So, i guess that makes you a liar in your comment, here, don't it?
I actually like the movie more than the book. The book is painfully slow but of course the advantage is that it will give more insight
Did anyone read The Great Gatsby by choice? I'm seeing comments from people that have to read it in school and talking about it like it's a chore.
I love books and reading and wish there were more people that actually enjoyed the book instead of talking about it like some kind of project that they want rid of.
+CastleFlameGal I read it by choice 2 days ago :)
+CastleFlameGal I read it the other day, I thought it was pretty good. It was never part of my school's reading list.
Same i read it a week before we had to in class because it looked very intresting and it was
Best movie EVER. Leonardo should have win many oscars for this.
I know right.I just don't get why he never won an Oscar I mean have they seen Titanic?
johane xo Leo doesn't NEED an Oscar. It's marketing BS, and Leo is #1 even without the "award." You don't have to put "Best Actor" next to Leo's name to sell a movie, it's completely superfluous, you just need Leo's name.
WestCoastSwinger yeah i know but an Oscar would have been a little thing to highlight his talent
nabihah hj jamil i bet they didn't
but rightfully he did not
That was the most captivating film I've ever seen! This trailer doesn't do justice!
I thought the trailer was amazing, so...will the movie be mindblowing? 😱 I'm so excited to see the movie
+Heeii Du absolutely!
true
One of my favorite movies...
Watch Great Gatsby trailer 3, it's much much better!
Yet the absolute best thing was that he was dying thinking daisy was calling him🖤😢
I really hate Daisy more than Tom.
Honestly, they deserve each other.
Lane Regencia
Yea
She's stupid af :)
I love nick tho.
Daisy was just a fickle, egocentric, and irresponsible gold digger.
Firefox_GamingXD only because of Tom!
Read the book because I wanted to, and I loved it!

It was totally straight 😏
okay buddy
I finally realized why I love this movie so much. Its not about the story, its the visuals, the colors, the image of the film. They are just so perfect. What an enjoyable 2 hours I have had. If you love movies you must watch this one. Movies are not books, they are meant to be watched.
Am I the only one obsessed with the story of jay Gatsby

Usually remade movies don't beat the originals, but this one did!
+Cinematic Top 10 yes of course! I watched both the old and new movie. Trust me.
+Angelita Numzz What? This movie isn't a remake. Its based off of a book...
+The Veneficus The first movie version of "The Great Gatsby" was made in the 1970's. I think that's what she's talking about
+Leah Street yes exactly Leah!!!
Angelita Numzz Oh okay. *Phew* That makes sense.
I'm happy to see Spiderman and Jack Dawson in a movie. I heard they're best friends in real life.
Yeah, Tobey McGuire (not sure if I spelt that right- :/) and Leo DiCaprio are childhood friends. They're such cuties. :)

Yes very good friends
They are ^w^
i heard ur mom doesnt love you
Just read the book, the trailer seems like a fair enough representation of what I read. Glad to see the actress got Daisy's voice right, since it was such a huge part of her description.
The most amazing actors in this:
- Tobey Miguire (Spider-Man)
- Leonardo DiCaprio (one of the most iconic actors ever)
and also Amitabh Bachhan ♥
Can someone pls tell me where is this movie available to watch? Thanks much!

You sir, are a genius. Now why didn't I think of that? #DontSayIt
This is one of the best movies , I've seen. Mainly because Gatsby represents THAT hope for love in each one of us. When I was listening to his words about Daisy, it was like hearing my thoughts..Not to mention that all the soundtracks were huge hits..
watched movie yesterday. i was impressed! i was sorry for leo tho :/
SORRY for not winning (oscar) again....also!!!
William Favero The book has been out for some time you know?
rbz0 it came out in 1925, so you can say it's been out for a while :D
This trailer makes you want to see the movie, right? Why don't you watch the whole movie online? It's possible without cost at this web site I stumbled upon. You can see if the movie is decent for you to purchase later if you want. They have created it secure and convenient to watch all types of movies, even the movie for this trailer. Mandolin L. No Gatsby did love her... but Daisy I guess you could say didn't really LOVE him, that's why she left at the end and never bothered to call or answer the phone... the Daisy and Tom were assholes...
Instead of reading the book for school I watched this movie. I got the highest grade in my class.
i bet good money that you're the most mature one in that class.
Weird flex but ok
Terrible idea tbh
Another martini, Paul?

Mohamed Abousserhane this movie was horrible. Did you listen to the music?! The movie is based in the past and it comes out with music from 3 years ago!
Danilo Figueroa Baz Luhrman explained that he used popular songs from today to mirror the popularity of 20s music
Ash Alonzo and it was not a good call it completely threw it off balance.
This movie, is incredible. Does the book justice. The soundtrack is something I still listen to even in 2019
Even 2022 lol

Hope you've gone all through those hardships and find someone who can love you more than you can love them back.
I know that feeling. It breaks something in you, it takes something from you. It changes you in a melancholic and rough way. Forever
Bro you've legit went through a lot, I hope you're doing better now
I feel you
Omg thank you all for your support!!! ♡
"I wish I'd done everything on earth with you"
Boo hoo, you were made to read it.
Grow up kids, it's a really good book and you'll have to do way worse things you hate to do in your life.
+jordan w i dont live in the US and gonna read this :3 the movie is this good, bet the book is better :3

This film is underrated. The performances by the cast were amazing. Especially Leo & Joel’s performances.
I was surprised by Joel. Woah.
Should i watch it?
And from Daisy not even a flower 😭
i think this is one of the best movies i have ever seen!
One of the RARE movies where the story and flow of a book is actually respected.
And Leo did it again on the water.
Leo always dies in the water but atleast rose said goodbye and daisy didn’t even visit his funeral

I have a huge place in my heart for this film, I saw it in the cinema with my parents upon release. I was 18 and absolutely captivated by the presentation and soundtrack/score.
I remember being thrown into this world and then gut struck by the ending and the huge lesson the story teaches the audience.
That lesson being is that a dream can lead you to your grave and love can blind you from the truth.
the film was ok not great but Leos performance is brilliant and the soundtrack is also the best thing about the film
if you think this movie is just ok i'd like to know what movies you think are actually good
+Pinksparklees I responded politely to your other comment, but considering you said that the book wasn't even good, and only the movie was, just doesn't feel like you have a real, deep appreciation for classic, meaningful, literature.
Jane Doe i meant about the film, the book is really good
Jane Doe Now that I think about it your right, F. Scott Fitzgerald was a genius to come up with such a compelling plot and I do appreciate the meaningful literature. It's just that the book lacks the glitz and the glam of what people expect in the 21st century but the movie incorporates that factor.
after 6 yrs, still my favorite movie.
Alfayeed Salik same
I LOVE Baz Lurhmann's directing style, and the way he can depict any period in time on-screen with brilliance and somehow modernise it so it is more appealing to contemporary audience, whilst simultaneously making a bold and artistic statement.
Can u believe everything he did was for her.. just amazing but all crashed down to him die ing in the end
***** Is that true? Because then I'm really disappointed in the love story :(

OMG WHY DOES LEO ALWAYS FREAKING DIE IN ROMEO AND JULIET THE TITANIC AND NOW HERE I AM HOPING HE MAKES IT IN THIS ONE AND IM JUST LIKE

@@RandomAwesomeism Unfortunately he was, unfortunately he was.
@@RandomAwesomeism no, Tom's mistress died, and his wife had cheated on him. Daisy was the real winner, she got to keep her wealth, her family, her status, her freedom and name clear after killing a human being, getting rid of the mistress she so detested. And, most of all, she got to carry on with her pretentious life without the slightest guilt on her conscience about the THREE deaths she had caused or any other of her misdeeds.

SPIDERMAN DID GREAT THIS MOVIE
I agree Sakuragi-kun.
What a man, what a movie. Di Caprio deserves multiple Oscars for his performances so far.
Just finished the film ... And jesus this masterpiece is so painful and worth for thinking deeply about to watch....
such a captivating movie . with an elegance of it's own . I sure hope to experience another film like "the great Gatsby" again . because I was drown to this world of wonderful charms and different kinds of people who live to be surfaced again to realty of the touching End
This film taught us a really important message, you can't re-live the past.
Lots of people seem to say that the movie wasn't very good but I enjoyed it a lot. The acting was overall great in my opinion and the setting was very intriguing. There were changes but nothing major enough change the story itself. Overall good interpretation of the book.
Even in 2020 is one my favorite movies.
Psychological assessment: daisy is narcissist, Gatsby a people pleaser (codependent), and finally Daisy's husband has borderline personality disorder. Daisy was attracted to the BPD because narcissist love the challenge and drama of the BPD, Gatsby was the self sacrificial people pleaser so they typically love narcissists.
daisy is more like stupid
SPOILER ALERT:
I'm surprised they didn't put in Gatsby's funeral.
The best bit about it was Leo's acting.
They actually mentioned it that no one came to his funeral and that it sickened Nick.
but i was expecting a scene :l
***** Oh, thanks.
Honestly, this was a good anime but I prefer the manga way more.

„Old sport“, such a legendary phrase.

*in 1938 daisy dies, actually she gets burned to death* Ohk now umm feeling a lot better
She pissed me off in the book. She is the definition of gold digger. Feel bad for Tom too
The strange thing is that’s the way that the author, F. Scott Fitzgerald’s, wife passed away.
Sally hope
She doesn't have more money than Gatsby
Sally Hope she chose tom because tom promised her the “escape” from her crimes, and she got child with him. While gatsby, was her past.. although she seemed to love him, but she was always quite unsure if a life with gatsby was what she really wanted. So at the end, she chose her own happy endings, even when it cost other people’s misery.
This is EXACTLY how I imagined Gatsby to be like while reading the book... just like this.
Perfect casting
I would have liked scarlett johansson as Jordan, Christian bale as Gatsby, and Matt Damon as Nick
Luxury Images nah, ScarJo's a pretty bland actress.... I could get behind the others tho (I still think Leo was near perfect as Jay)
One of my all time favorite trailers. Who's watching in 2021?
He is now above and beyond an Oscar..
leo deserved an oscar for this movie
Some Jordan Baker/Elizabeth Debicki appreciation here. I remember being captivated by Jordan Baker character the first time I saw this trailer/movie and I didn't even know who Debicki was back then. She looked immensely captivating, statuesque, and authentic, like a postcard, she feels like the embodiment of 1920s aesthetics and spirit in my eyes. Mysterious, aloof, confident, cynical and intriguing. She stole every scene she was in. Great actress, great movie.
